"He didn't marry me, he didn't commit to me forever. I owe him NOTHING" amennnnnnnnnnn girl. PREEEACH! I tell my friends and teens I mentor this- every day.
Hey 👋🏽 I hate to be the grammar and punctuation police but I’m an English tutor and I can’t help it 😂 I only say this to help you in school or whatever you may do. Periods go inside the quotations. That’s all 😂
Modesty is required in all religions. No exception.just read the Bible and you know. Look at the Nuns all are wearing (hijab) . But this mosesty of the Nuns is not only for them but for all Kristian women. I've read the Bible many times and was surprised how this part is neglected. Even attending the church, woman should wear a scarf and be modest. And they should sit in the back rows to listen to the speach and should not raise their voices......and other religions say the same. Just read the Bible and reflect on it.
@@brenna5118 thanks for your comment.. Just curious to ask do Nuns go against what the Bible says. And I think it's against the instinct to be not modest why Adam and eve cover them selves after eating the fruit Why as human civilized he covered himself more Why woman in Europe 50 years back wore modest clothes??? Why Mary covers her head??? I suggest reading the whole holy book again and again to make sure of that And also reading the 10th commandments you will see there are other things not applied too.
Brenna wow, what a coincidence that you ask me of all people that love crop tops. Before I was saved, I was obsessed with fashion and because of that I overspent on clothes, shoes, jewelry etc. My style was never concrete so I had different variations of outfits. A few days after I was saved, I realized there was one combination of outfits that repeated itself in my closet. Which was my ultimate favorite: crop tops combined with pencil skirts. So I forgave myself for my years of folly and donated everything else...any other clothing combination that didn’t fit the crop top pencil skirt or plain business dress style, bags and jewelry new and old. I’m not sure where you are in your journey in faith but if you’ve ever stumbled so badly in your path, you will see what I mean. I was in Jesus Christ’s presence during a rough patch in my life and nothing feels like His presence. It’s a peaceful presence that makes you realize you are more than just a robot paying bills, going to work, parties or friends on the weekend. I felt this wholeness and completeness for about a good solid day, I thought of nothing but Him. I only realized later when my mom asked me why I stopped wearing makeup all of a sudden that I changed not just internally but externally. The answer to her question was simple, I just didn’t feel like I needed it anymore. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t forget to take a shower or iron my clothes, I still took care of what He gave me body and possessions. I just forgot about any extra piece. It shocked my mom because I’m very artistic and have always felt this need to express myself artistically. Now I just channel that creative energy in the things I do for Christ. I put all my focus on Jesus first. No, I don’t think it’s a bad thing to wear crop tops if you know how to style it and still maintain your dignity. I didn’t throw away any of my crops tops, I always wear loose crop t-shirts with pencil skirts or if you like the opposite why not fitted crop top (but not tight!) with a loose pencil skirt? Or any other bottom piece that you like and is comfortable. The idea is to pick one area you’d like to dress up (your best feature). After you’ve done that and know your style, you will be so busy with other things in your life that “what should I wear?” Won’t consume your time anymore. You won’t care much about style as much because you know you were made in God’s image and rest your confidence in Him. See Matthew 6:25 and Proverbs 31 as I said before you embody modesty as a result of maturity in faith, it’s effortless... I hope that helps
@@suegreenland5989 Well women in history were expected to be "modest" but modesty changes thru culture. Mary covered her head because of her culture...she was jewish, not Christian. In the 1800's, women in puritanical Europe would, like Caitlin said, wear things showing their boobs. Yes, people thru out culture wore clothes most of the time, but that is cultural. In Greece, rome, and many other cultures, loincloths were the norm. bikinis were also a thing throughout history. and yes, even in Israel they did(and do) habibi dancing, famous for its elaborate and revealing costumes. (belly dancing). In some tribes, they wear no clothes at all. In the French rivera, its common to go without shirts. Modesty is very subjective in our time, and now crop tops and all aren't shocking or surprising, but typical. also, a big reason people thru history wore clothes was mainly weather. People in tropical or Mediterranean enviroments always tended to wear lighter clothes, or less clothes in general. Would you say that crop tops, or things that emphasize the waist like mermaid style dresses are sinful? really, as a petite girl who has a small frame, they give me much more confidence than looser clothes, and make me feel feminine. Like, its not really about attracting guys. They make me feel free because of how new and special it feels to wear it. Why's that bad? (btw this is my other account :)
Brenna g idk who you replied to but seems from the content it pertains to what I said. Culture and religion are two different things. If you feel more drawn to submit to the culture around you then do so, we have free will. Trends are fleeting anyway they change every year depending on political, sociological , environmental factors etc. Religion also varies by denominations but it is either seen as mundane practice like any hobby out there in the weekend or taken as the relationship we have with God in which the spiritual essence has always remained the same, regardless of the time or place you live in. Modesty is subjective but it isn’t the same as a decision to dress preppy or street. It is rather a state of mind that comes with religious maturity. God isn’t looking at your mermaid dress... or the emphasis you try to put on your waist or your femininity, He already made you a woman and knows you possess the qualities of being feminine, so why emphasize what is evidently there? You said not for men... if then for yourself then what do you gain out of it? I tell you, I am not one to judge on fashion, as I’ve said before, I was a crazy fashionista years ago and I can tell you what I gained from that. I gained my social media and my friends’ approval, I had attention from dressing “uniquely” it boosted my ego and made me feel more confident about my artistic ability. Once you know what you’re capable of in fashion or whatever else you choose, you start to see passed that and God made you beautiful just as you are and you will forget of the desire of needing anything extra. Again this could escalate into something else, so rather than talking about there are many people that wear revealing clothes and this is the reality of the world, why not ask as a teen Christian what is the reality of God in your life? Are you more focused on approving of what to wear because this is how everyone is dressed or on trying to live righteously through the Word? Anyway try to focus and reflect on those verses above without coming into them already thinking of defending what you already have set in mind. God bless ❤️
I personally am a more liberal minded girl, but I just wanted to say the way you present yourself and your opinions is respectable. I appreciate the fact that you never put down any other type of living while expressing your own thoughts. It was a great video!
Zeina Katabi I completely agree! I came into this video thinking I would be angry at the end, but I ended up really respecting your opinions and your viewpoint on modesty
Men dress modestly without thinking about it because they’re not taught to find their value in being sexually attractive. Me, I’d rather people feel peace in my presence rather than lust or frustrated sexual longing.
The Men who are “modest” are mainly insecure. I see plenty of men running outside only wearing shorts and exposing their whole upper body. And plenty of men with low cut V-necks. Or low button downs. Tanks that reveal the pectorals . Speedos on the beach. Sexy , confident men love to show their bodies and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that . My point is don’t make it seem one-sided when that’s not true. All humans who are self secure and confident have no issue with feeling comfortable in their skin. It is usually other people who have the issues and reflect them upon the other person.
Bam I disagree 100%. I am handsome and fit and don't feel the need to show off my bulge or go shirtless or wear speedos. So no, modest men are not insecure and if you are a female it's not surprising that you would have that opinion.
@TallDark Handsome I was talking to a young Muslim woman, and she said she’s often asked why she wears the hijab. Her response was “My beauty isn’t for just anyone to see. It’s mine. I will share it with my husband.” And there is nothing wrong with men holding back a little something for their loved one.
TallDark Handsome I said mainly. Not all of course. No one cares if you want to show your “bulge “ or not . The point was in reference to the original comment which stated that men naturally dress “modest “ , which isn’t true. That’s my point. And many people men and women tend to cover up because of insecurities. You always hear them making statements like “if I had a body like that too , I’d show it off” so many times.
"I don't believe that every single person out there has earned the right to view my body." THIS! I think that a lot of people view modesty as something that shames women and our bodies. I don't dress modestly because I'm ashamed of the way that I look or because I think that my body is a 'dirty' thing that needs to be hidden away. I dress the way that I do because I am fearfully and wonderfully made, but I want to save my body for my husband cause the people around me don't have that same 'privileges' I guess, that my husband will ❤
AwkwardlyAdorable Yes! I love how she said this as well. We need to adorn ourselves we respect and save our bodies for the man who has laid down his life for us by taking vows to honor, cherish, and protect us.
@Ann. Yes! The best thing my husband ever said to me was when we discussing a situation in which I had very strong feelings at odds with another family member’s (regarding my safety). He said, “Well, my first obligation is to my wife, so I’ll go with what you want.”
I was like you when I was in high school but in university I move to a big city, and it caused a big impact cause I thought I was too prude, so I changed, i hooked up with guys, drink, smoke, trying to match, I felt in love but i was the other girl, the first time i saw a video of you, i laughed and thought you were too prude. But i subscribed, Why? Maybe in my heart i knew I missed the old me. the boy left me whitout saying a thing and that broke my heart, I continued talking to boys, and drinking a lot. A good friend said he was worried about my behave and in that moment it really hit me, I am happy, but I feel lost, I think maybe is that I was a good girl, the kind and sweet, and I really miss that part of me, I miss god, so I am watching your videos, because I want to grow in to a good spiritual woman. Pray for me. Thanks for making this videos.
I'll pray for you! I'm sorry you went through that, often the world sells us these terrible messages that promise women happiness, but in the end it only hurts us. God is still with you.
This has been my exact journey over the past few months, I was very promiscuous and did risky things... I thought I was empowering myself, but now that I am returning to the old me, the me from early high school, I realize that I was devaluing myself and my body. I feel so much more pride and contentment now that I am trying to live modestly and piously. You’re in my prayers!
As I get more mature, I realized not all attention is good attention. Sometimes, not being noticed is a blessing. I wanna go about my day without being hollered at. I'm not available, not looking to mingle, not trying to find a sexual partner. I'm happy that my clothes convey that message, even when I still look very beautiful, attractive or well put together.
@Amanda Charlebois I have never been harassed by a man in my life. I have never given an ounce of attention to a man who has not approached me in a respectful manner and I have zero problem to assert myself and that has kept all my interactions from getting to a level I am uncomfortable with. Dressing with some level of modesty is a great way to communicate a lack of sexual availability and most men seeking only that will walk on by to someone looking sexually available as to not waste their time. We are not responsible for policing men's behaviour but we are responsible for policing our own individual behaviour! It is also not a man's fault if a woman sends every signal that she is looking for sexual attention and offers her some and she does not know how to conduct herself or express that she is not interested in him. Men are not mind readers.
@@iamirish7226 so you think a woman in a bikini means she wants sex? maybe she just feels cute in it, like the majority of women. and it is the mans fault if he harasses her. It's fine for him to hit on her, but no means no and that's it. why do you say we are "responsible for policing our behavior" in regards to not make men hit on you? that's their behavior, right? btw, do you live in a conservative town, or the burbs'? women in those places are much less likely to be harassed, than say, a bar in downtown new york
I love how you always say “if you choose to...” It’s wonderful. You have a non judgmental attitude; more of a “this is what I do, but you don’t have to do the same..” I think that in itself is very feminine 🌸
Yes, yes, yes!! Modesty is not something to be forced on anyone... It has to be a decision you make for yourself . Otherwise you wont stick with it. I did that a couple of times.. and tried to be modest bc I was told I should.. I did it for a while then went back to being even MORE immodest.. terrible.. But now, I know I am doing it bc I know and believe it is right and what the Lord wants me to do, as His daughter .. Praise Jesus!!
Yes, plus modesty just means not being overt, and that can be subjective often. For example a plain decent looking dress can be considered "overt" by someone else when the woman is naturally just attractive, and more an issue with the thoughts of the people looking at her and not that she is trying to draw attention to herself necessarily
I’ve been a Christian my whole life and this is the best advice I have ever heard on Modesty! I love how you consider non-Christians too and said it in a respectful way that wasn’t bashing them. Even as a Christian some modesty videos are way to extreme for me. I believe staying up to the culture fashion trends but doing it in a modest way vs dressing like we live in the early 1900s
My Mom tried to teach me this when I was a teenager but I just couldn’t understand the idea that I could look pretty without showing a lot of skin. Now that I’m in my early 20s I’m just now understanding and appreciating the importance of modesty. This video has helped! I’m definitely transitioning my attire to a more modest trend. I love your channel thank you for representing true femininity ♥️
Thank you for sharing I feel the same way when I was a teen and regret a lot of outfits I wore. Lol. Thankfully my husband has always looked past my clothes and hair and makeup. Now that we have a daughter I want to teach her about modesty through example.
As a 16 year old I have to say that you are a great example to younger (and older off course) people. You are truly an inspiration and seem over very well spoken. Keep on doing what you are doing, you really reach a lot more people you might think! ♥
Thank you for the encouragement Tasha! It means a lot to read these kind words. I’m so happy that women of any age feel comfortable on my channel. Blessings!
it doesnt have to be a pervert on the beach, for me to not want to flaunt my flesh in frount of children, old folks,+ other people's husbands! I just have to want to have respect for other people's feelings+ weaknesses,+ set a good example for those coming up behind me, (the children). yes my body is not sinful, but it's private+ holy, because it is the TEMPLE OF"THE LORD". NOT TO BE PUT ON DISPLAY.
Ok so I'm not practicing modesty in any way nor do I plan to, but I clicked on this video because I was curious what this was all about. You present yourself so well and you should be proud of that. And I almost spit out my coffee when you said you don't have to look like a Duggar. Cracked me the heck up
Yes because modesty seem as negative that there’s shaming girls for there certain clothes they wear I believe it negative or something u have to look frumpy
I have no idea why TH-cam recommended this video to me but I'm glad it was. It is very inspirational, I had been playing with the idea of dressing in a more feminine, grown up, and elegant way. You presented it in a nice and non judgemental way, thank you.
I am 14 year old muslim girl and I agree with you 100%. For me, modesty is about self respect and gaining others as well, it practices self discipline and not only does it make you look well put together, it affects the way you carry yourself out to others. Well done and keep going girl! New sub💞
I love the fact that different believes can find similarities. I personally am not religious but I'm also watching this video. I think we can all learn from eachother 😊
I'm Muslim too and i completely agree, well said! Also @CeceVera you're so right and this comment section proves exactly what you said, it's honestly so wholesome
“Be respectful of other people trying to exist in the world!” YESSSS! My husband and I avoid certain places, events, movies, etc because we know it will be uncomfortable for us both. I wish everyone cared about this as well. I LOVED this video! 💛
I subscribed IMMEDIATELY. I can feel the love of Christ in you. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL INSIDE AND OUT. I love this video.... your not trying to force anybody into anything. Just as our FATHER IN HEAVEN doesn't force anything on us. I LOVE THE WAY THAT YOU APPROACH THE SUBJECT AS WELL. GREAT JOB SIS!!!♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Ufff finally someone said it right! When I am modest, I attract the right people. When you are modest people and men focus on your elegancy and personality. The way you dress really sends a message of how you want to be perceived by others .
I’ve been committed to dressing modestly since I was a twelve year old and never wore something I later super regretted. Growing up, feminist would bash me for not being more “comfortable with my body” and really needed to have a “better self image.” I totally have seen in my personal life that as I respect men with my modesty they in turn have always respected me! One of my brothers once told me that a friend of his told him that he watches his language and discussion topics when I’m around because of how much of a lady he sees me as! I’m personally very passionate about modesty and glad you made a video on this subject! :)
I agree with everything you said. Modesty IS cultural and depends on the social context, but some people forget that-- they want to impose what they believe is modest which turns out to be so out of context 🙄 Thanks for sharing this message beautiful 💕 I ❤ your channel.
This is beautifully thought through and articulated. Such an important topic! As a young woman in an environment that celebrates immodesty, this was genuinely practical and helpful to me. Keep it up! :)
I love your open mind - You always recognize the other way of thinking instead of demonizing it beforehand ! I also LOVE LOVE LOVE that you don`t involve politics and that you simply focus on femininity - JUST FEMININITY ! So your message hopefully will reach ALL GIRLS with ALL mindsets..
When I first started watching I got very defensive like, "I should be able to wear what I want & men shouldn't purposely only look at me for sex" Now this is sort of true, but listening to you talk I feel like there is a lot that I was just missing. Thank you for this video, it really made me take a step back and re-examine my clothing choice. (in a good way) Edit: for spelling mistake
Men are designed to naturally desire for sex more than women. So it’s normal that men will look at women. We human beings are the only ones where the female has fully grown breasts even before having a child. Which is why we wear clothes to cover them. The men who are only there for sex will only be attracted to skin revealing breasts while the men who are looking for love and long term relationships are able to be attracted to women simply by the shape of their breast showing through the clothes. That’s the difference. Covering up is all about respect for the man who loves you because you keep the intimate parts of your body away from others and will only show it to your man in the bedroom.
Thank you for this, being 17 & ‘slim thick’ but not showing it off with super tight fitting and revealing clothes my friends always judge me and say if they were me they probably would try to become a Instagram model and post pictures in a bikini and get all the guys they want. Idk I just don’t see myself that way. I know I have a nice body but I don’t feel the need to get approval from men by dressing in revealing clothes, I feel like I’m the only teenager that would say that😂
Hey, I'm 17 too! Hang in there. They can judge you all they want, but at the end of the day it's your preference, your values, your rules. Don't be afraid to set boundaries!
I’m a muslim and i can completely relate to thissssss! Thankyouuu. Omg. People always think that we muslim girls are forced to dress modestly or wear the hijab. We aren’t forced. I love being modest. :)
I honestly love this as a 21 year old college girl I always get the comments you look like a prude or a librarian and everyone wears these short skirts and low tops and they look cheap to me I don’t feel comfortable sending those messages so I really appreciate you stating that being modest makes up even not objects thank you 😊
Gosh !! Soo well put. As a Muslims modest women , are forever trying to explain that covering what we want is our choice and not because we think we’re dirty, it’s in-fact the opposite!! hence the choice to cover and not draw attention, simples ☺️💕
Hey, thanks for sharing this! I am a Muslim, and although I disagree on some points, I find it really refreshing to find a woman who appreciates the beauty and elegance behind veiling ourselves. It is really rare nowadays to hear such pure words. My fav analogy about this would be how women's bodies are beautiful pearls that were gifted to to them to be shielded and protected, rather than shown off for anyone to steal.
You are reminding me of so many crucial moral values that I was raised with, but forgot about once I inevitably conformed to a more conventional mindset in college. I am so grateful that you are reintroducing these topics with their inherent truths, because I had honestly forgotten about this kind of self respect that we rarely, if ever, see anymore in this generation.
I love your point that dressing modestly actually puts you on a more level playing field with men. I know I’m taken more seriously and I even take other women more seriously when they’re dressed modestly. It does feel empowering to keep that to myself rather than display myself for the world to see
You are soo beautiful! This is exactly what my Mom has taught me. I always dress the way I want to be seen as . I want people to see me as intelligent and kind person and not any other way. I am from India and I am Hindu and this is exactly we are taught ! Loads of love!
❤ just ❤ We share the same mindset! Modesty is not thinking backwards. Muslim, Christian, and Jewish women should know and understand what you are thinking about, and I'm not talking about the veil but about modesty as a concept.
I am 18 yo and I am grateful beyond words for finding such a beautiful mind on this platform. I can feel how little by little we are changing something. Lots of love and keep up the good work, you re doing amazing!!
I don’t personally practice modesty or any religion but this is one of the first videos i’ve seen of people presenting their faith or practices in a way that is not offensive or pushy or shamed other women! good for you for being so respectful of others
Like I feel like modesty can so often be attached to the negative stigma against "being a prude", or be confused with "she just doesn't have the body to wear fewer clothes". This is seriously a breath of fresh air to hear you talk about this!!
Mrs. Midwest. You are awesome. I am a liberal, spiritual/atheist, feminist... but I have always valued modesty and keeping my body private. I love watching your videos because despite differences in our views, I agree with a lot of the things you say about femininity and how to present ourselves and take care of ourselves. I’m also super monogamous. So thank you for sharing your videos!
Nice take on modesty Caitlin ^_^ "Elegant" is definitely also a guiding principle for my style, which mostly also lead to more modest outfits. Showing too much is very "pushy" and thus not feminine which is more of a "pull" energy. The mystic of just showing just a bit is more feminine :)
I love this video so much, God knows I needed it. It’s so easy to fall back into the trap of the way the “world” dresses, which is a more sexual sensual way when it feels like everyone around you dresses that way-even Christians. As someone who aims to dress modestly and always has, it’s always reassuring to see people like you and watch videos like this. I love the way you expressed and explained your opinion on this topic. I can’t wait for future videos of yours. So glad I found you girl!
I have never seen a more accuarte description of what modesty should be like than this. This is so on point and I LOVE the way you think of it, specially the “it’s all about context” idea!
My modesty is about "not causing others to sin". I see it as a kindness and service. I don't see it as what I do for myself as you do. I have found that interesting albeit 'internet safe'. I really believe your message had merit for those of the world to understand and that has its place.
Hi all the way from Windhoek, Namibia. I've been dressing modestly for the past 2 years almost and I love it. It's comfortable and it makes me feel more beautiful contrary to what most people think.
Modesty starts in the heart and is reflected in your words, actions, and dress. Many Christian women disregard this topic that it's so clearly taught in the Bible simply because of self complacency. But it's not about us it's about God and bringing glory to Him in everything we do. Beautiful video from a beautiful woman, inside and out!! God bless you!!
As a devout Catholic I approach it the same way and completely agree with pretty much everything. Thank you for putting it into words, as you have so well in this video. As a teenager I never wanted to give off the wrong signals to guys, I understood this even if on a subconcious level (as well as my family keeping me in check). I've never wanted guys to think sex is available, because it is not (that is reserved only for my future husband, my body is exclusive and only one man will ever see me and be with me naked, and that is my future husband). Dress appropriately. I am also glad you mentioned modesty online as I have always had a similar position. I do love skirts but where I am it is very rare, as everyone likes dressing like they're a homeless junkie -_- So I do avoid that look (even if modest(ish)) but to dress as I'd love too (i.e. as a lady from Christendom) would be maybe too far, unfortunately. How lovely would it be to dress like ladies did 100 to 150 years ago? ...until then, I am finding middle ground ;) I have been making moves in that direction. I got a lovely pink flowing skirt I've been searching for ages, it looks like from Christendom and so elegant and feminine. Need to build up confidence though in being able to not care what people think, if you truly like a particular classic style, you should wear it. I also got a lace veil for latin mass (as I go to latin now when I can) and it arrived last week, so I have been very happy with it. It looks so feminine and modest too :) Keep up the good work, blessings x
Thank you very much this really taught me how to value myself as a woman (well teenager, but blossoming woman), I've had negative experiences with guys gawking at me and sexual harassment and the truth was that I wasn't treasuring myself enough to dress like a modest lady. I also grew up in the Pentecostal church ever since I was 10 which really taught me a lot about modesty but my parents always told me that I didn't "have to" dress and act like them, so I didn't. However, I've found through your videos and through TH-cam how to truly embrace my femininity and to be empowered in that, and thank you Mrs. Midwest for introducing me to start the journey of discovering my femininity and embracing who God's made me to be and introducing me to the homemaker lifestyle as well because I am truly considering doing that for the rest of my life. I can't tell you how much your videos have impacted my life, but they have in such a drastic way. Thank you Mrs. Midwest for all you do. Much love.
I loved what you said about modesty makes your body exclusive, i never saw it that way and i think its actually super sexy for men to imagine it but not seeing it and also for ous husband knowing that we are exclusively for them not any other man 💯
i love your channel because you genuinely seem down to earth and up to date with recent trends, you dont seem stuck up or stuck in time and you arent shaming anyone for their personal choices.. keep up the good work!
Thank you! I was raised this way too as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Bodies & sex are sacred. I love your point on how it puts us on equal ground w/ men. The young men I'm around say "modest is hottest."
I am an atheist/career oriented/(wannabe) "baddass" 27 y.o woman but I appreciate you very much. You are a very articulate, sweet, smart, compassionate and inspirational young lady. I myself dress quite modestly for all the reasons (but the religious ones) you give but I still make sure that my silhouette is visible in a non provocative way, because I am proud of my body and I don't want to hide it under thick layers. But I still make sure that I am not showing off anything. Less is more, as they say ;) Thank you for creating such content.
I wish someone had told me this when I was a bit younger. My mom did her best but I think the dominant "feminist" narrative drowned it out and honestly, my heart aches for my younger self dressing provocatively because she felt like it was the only way to get positive attention. I think your channel, and especially this video, will do more good for women this day and age than any "feminist" agenda could. Your point about modesty being an equalizer was brilliant. I agree, men don't walk around in short shorts and low cut shirts and I think if we want equality, then everyone should dress modestly. I agree it is not empowering to give creepy strange men exactly what they want. Thank you so much for this.
Wow, wonderfully said! I love that you pointed out that we don't control other people's thoughts but what we do control is the message we send to the world. I love your video! Very thought provoking
Yes girl! I'm not religious, but I share your perspective on modesty 100%. I also laughed at the Duggar reference, every time I wear a long braid I feel like I am paying homage to their style haha. Keep it up with the great content!
I just wanted to say this is such a beautiful and respectful video! I love the way you present this hard topic with no judgement and so much love. I am not religious, but I love the way you talk about your faith, but also give the perspective of someone who doesn’t prescribe to any particular religion. I’m 16 and mostly accidentally dress modestly but I have recently been questioning my style as most girls my age dress a lot less modestly than I do. I don’t know why TH-cam suggested this for me, but I’m so glad that it did. This has really given me confidence in my choice to dress modestly. Thank you so much!
Love this 💕 and I’ve been saying these same things for decades. The more attractive you are the more attention you’re getting anyway. I noticed early that I preferred being respected to being desired. I love being treated as a mother, daughter or sister, rather than as a sex object.
So I have fallen in love with your channel!! I am not religious and I absolutely love that you do not hate on that. Your channel is very welcoming ❤ I wish you and your family the best! Thank you for talking about things like these. No matter if you are religious or not your body is still a temple of love and should be treated as one.
Modesty actually is liberating to me. It makes me feel like I am not trying to look like anyone else or compete with anyone else and that I have such confidence in my God given value as a woman - that I can portray to others that I have something more to offer than just what my body looks like.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this, you're so kind and wholesome. That said, there's nothing wrong with appreciating your own beauty and blessing the world with it now and then. The key is to always keep it classy.
The thing with modesty that I have struggled with accepting as someone who grew up in a conservative muslim community is the fact no matter how much I cover, and I REALLY covered, it doesn’t deter men because women are always viewed as sex objects so I’ll just wear whatever I’m comfortable with. A man’s point of view of a woman will always be wrong and lustful even when he’s “respecting” her modesty it’s a patriarchal society and a patriarchal context. Thank you for the video and I love how connecting with your feminine side empowers you, unfortunately I live in a society that doesn’t give the freedom to enjoy that.
My husband once told me one of the main reasons he was attracted to me and married me is because I didn’t let it all show. I still do because it’s special to my husband. I also don’t feel comfortable showing it all. My mother taught me how to dress pretty without being all out. I’m teaching the same things to my daughter.
@Kayla Renee Every good man would not like their wife to be sharing her body both physically and visually to other men. Because when a man and a woman is united in a marriage relationship, their bodies are only reserved for each other and no one else.
I'm new to your channel and I LOVE it !!! The messages you are sending are very beautiful. as a Muslim girl who wears the hijab with modest clothes ,this accurately reflects the concept behind my attire 💜💜💜💜✨✨
I just love your channel. I’m a lot older than you but wish I heard this message when I was younger, but I can teach my teenage daughter these principles. You are beautiful and keep up the good work
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!! I have been trying to teach on modesty with the our youth at church and I have definitely gotten a little push back from some of the girls but then their are some girls who God has been working on and the Holy Spirit has been convicting them to pursue modesty. I love your video and am going to share it with our girls to encourage them. Thank you for being beautiful and bold and sharing this kind of encouragement with women!!!!!
You just put everything in my head into words!! You express yourself so eloquently, keep it up with the videos, you are a flower in the darkness of the internet!! Love from Saint-Malo, France!!
Wow, Its really interesting to see someone from France embracing anything remotely religious . In the media, French people are always furiously anti-religion . I remember there backlash against the #PrayForParis hashtag, because apparently some French people found the word 'pray' offensive
@@samahelhassan5351 I am actually an American that was living in France for a year. You are correct, France is very socialized, liberal, anti family, anti tradition etc. Overall, french people tend to be loser-ish and not give a damn about life, typically very pretentious too. So glad that I left that crappy country
"He didn't marry me, he didn't commit to me forever. I owe him NOTHING" amennnnnnnnnnn girl. PREEEACH! I tell my friends and teens I mentor this- every day.
I loved it!!!
Modesty is “more about discretion” and “not about rules”. Perfectly said.
Zoe Nicole amen it is so much in your character and demeanor
Hey 👋🏽 I hate to be the grammar and punctuation police but I’m an English tutor and I can’t help it 😂 I only say this to help you in school or whatever you may do. Periods go inside the quotations. That’s all 😂
True💕
im a Muslim and modesty is a major part of my religon. to hear this from another faith / person is truly amazing
And I think it's against the instinct to be not modest why Adam and eve cover them selves after eating the fruit
Why as human civilized he covered himself more
Why woman in Europe 50 years back wore modest clothes???
Why Mary covers her head??? I suggest reading the whole holy book again and again to make sure of that
And also reading the 10th commandments you will see there are other things not applied too.
Thank you for watching and for this comment! I always try to make room for all different thoughts and opinions :)
Zeina I think much like you :D
Zeina Katabi I completely agree! I came into this video thinking I would be angry at the end, but I ended up really respecting your opinions and your viewpoint on modesty
"modesty isn't about hiding your body, it's about revealing your dignity"
So good!:)
Exactly
Bam and assuming you're female nobody cares what you think about 'modest' men being insecure.
I dress the way that I do because I am fearfully and wonderfully made, but I want to save my body for my husband cause the people around me don't have that same 'privileges' I guess, that my husband will ❤
Your body doesnt belong to a man first of all...
AwkwardlyAdorable Yes! I love how she said this as well. We need to adorn ourselves we respect and save our bodies for the man who has laid down his life for us by taking vows to honor, cherish, and protect us.
@@npjm.99 Did you even read what she said?
It's about knowing your worth. And yes you do belong to your husband just as he belongs to you. Two become one.
@Ann. Yes! The best thing my husband ever said to me was when we discussing a situation in which I had very strong feelings at odds with another family member’s (regarding my safety). He said, “Well, my first obligation is to my wife, so I’ll go with what you want.”
One of the best modesty vids out there hands down. Christian or not I think everyone will appreciate this video. God bless.
I hope your doing better *hugs*
Thanks for sharing. Don't give up on yourself. God won't give up on you either!
I'll pray for you! I'm sorry you went through that, often the world sells us these terrible messages that promise women happiness, but in the end it only hurts us. God is still with you.
Praying for you. God is in the redemption business!
@Amanda Charlebois that is true. I think op was just saying that dressing more modestly helps them personally.
@Amanda Charlebois The comments here show how brainwashed these women are I hope they cover their faces too
@@abigailowusu4866 How are they brainwashed?
You did a great job articulating a touchy subject in a wonderful way that doesn't shame women, but instead empowers them.
Unicorn Tears Yes, I really appreciate how Caitlin has that attitude as well. 🙂🌸
Yes, plus modesty just means not being overt, and that can be subjective often. For example a plain decent looking dress can be considered "overt" by someone else when the woman is naturally just attractive, and more an issue with the thoughts of the people looking at her and not that she is trying to draw attention to herself necessarily
"I am a women. Not a sex object"
Thanks for these words pretty Katelyn.. 😘
Yes!:)
Yes 😤
I agree
I’ve been a Christian my whole life and this is the best advice I have ever heard on Modesty! I love how you consider non-Christians too and said it in a respectful way that wasn’t bashing them. Even as a Christian some modesty videos are way to extreme for me. I believe staying up to the culture fashion trends but doing it in a modest way vs dressing like we live in the early 1900s
Yes! Finally a balanced view on modesty, sooo rare to find this!:)
Me too, I take the modestly to an “extreme” I guess, I wear skirts, dresses, hair scarves. 😊
Isn’t it crazy that the new “alternative lifestyle” is modesty!!? Lol I love it!
Yes, very sad! Also crazy that new "alternative lifestyle"is being a Christian and saying it openly
I love it too! 🕊💕
Look up the straight edge lifestyle also, the punk movement that promotes abstaining from drinking and other unhealthy practices.
NaturallyFeminine That’s great!
NaturallyFeminine I was exactly the same. I thought my mother was old fashioned. Now I am even more 'old fashioned' than she was! Lol.
Thank you for sharing I feel the same way when I was a teen and regret a lot of outfits I wore. Lol. Thankfully my husband has always looked past my clothes and hair and makeup. Now that we have a daughter I want to teach her about modesty through example.

Same here!!!

You presented it in a nice and non judgemental way, thank you.

how is not dressing "modest" bad?
Yes!!!:) she is fabulous!:)
Ufff finally someone said it right! When I am modest, I attract the right people. When you are modest people and men focus on your elegancy and personality. The way you dress really sends a message of how you want to be perceived by others .
Yes!:) that is so good!:)
I love this.. just beautiful!! Thank you and Jesus bless you
Awesome. Men definitely take notice of ladies over the women and act accordingly.

As a Muslim Hijabi woman, I find your approach to modesty, femininity, and elegance very inspiring.
I agree with everything you said. Modesty IS cultural and depends on the social context, but some people forget that-- they want to impose what they believe is modest which turns out to be so out of context 🙄
Thanks for sharing this message beautiful 💕 I ❤ your channel.
My mind is blown; I can tell how well-thought out this video is, and I admire your respect for others' opinions while expressing your own!
This is beautifully thought through and articulated. Such an important topic! As a young woman in an environment that celebrates immodesty, this was genuinely practical and helpful to me. Keep it up! :)

@@strawberryvagablonde7926 so true
When I first started watching I got very defensive like, "I should be able to wear what I want & men shouldn't purposely only look at me for sex"
Now this is sort of true, but listening to you talk I feel like there is a lot that I was just missing. Thank you for this video, it really made me take a step back and re-examine my clothing choice. (in a good way)
Edit: for spelling mistake
God bless you girls! Keep living for the Lord.
This comment resonates with me. I have that curvy kind of shape too. Proud of you for valuing yourself so much! 💓

Dressing in revealing clothes does not equal wanting approval from whoever your attracted to

I’m a muslim and i can completely relate to thissssss! Thankyouuu. Omg. People always think that we muslim girls are forced to dress modestly or wear the hijab. We aren’t forced. I love being modest. :)
If you show your top cover your legs.

Could you do a video about saving virginity till marriage as a believer and how society/peer pressure affects your way of thinking towards it?
This video is absolutely necessary, especially for the youngins these days.

I am so grateful that you are reintroducing these topics with their inherent truths, because I had honestly forgotten about this kind of self respect that we rarely, if ever, see anymore in this generation.
this can be a hard pill to swallow but your delivery was smooth & compassionate. Thank you for this ♥️
I love your point that dressing modestly actually puts you on a more level playing field with men. I know I’m taken more seriously and I even take other women more seriously when they’re dressed modestly. It does feel empowering to keep that to myself rather than display myself for the world to see
God is using you 100%. I appreciate your video and it changed my perspective.

What an amazing way to explain it. This is a great video for women who don't really understand God's version of modesty.

We share the same mindset! Modesty is not thinking backwards. Muslim, Christian, and Jewish women should know and understand what you are thinking about, and I'm not talking about the veil but about modesty as a concept.

Thank you for sharing your wisdom. You have been so helpful to me in the journey to embrace my femininity. May God bless you.
Going on a Mrs. Midwest binge right now! Thank you for inspiring me!
I adore your channel it feels so good to finally watch a youtuber you can relate to in an honest way.
I have never seen a more accuarte description of what modesty should be like than this. This is so on point and I LOVE the way you think of it, specially the “it’s all about context” idea!
Yes!!!:)
Thank you for such a beautiful video. I especially loved how you proudly said your a Christian. God bless you 😊❤️
As a practicing Muslim woman, I appreciate this video. You’re an inspiration. Thank you.
My modesty is about "not causing others to sin". I see it as a kindness and service. I don't see it as what I do for myself as you do. I have found that interesting albeit 'internet safe'. I really believe your message had merit for those of the world to understand and that has its place.
Spot on. Very wisely, maturely and well said! I couldn't agree more. Bravo for this important and timely message.
💕💕
How lovely would it be to dress like ladies did 100 to 150 years ago? ...until then, I am finding middle ground ;)
I have been making moves in that direction. It looks so feminine and modest too :)
Keep up the good work, blessings x
Much love.
I loved what you said about modesty makes your body exclusive, i never saw it that way and i think its actually super sexy for men to imagine it but not seeing it and also for ous husband knowing that we are exclusively for them not any other man 💯
dead on!
i love your channel because you genuinely seem down to earth and up to date with recent trends, you dont seem stuck up or stuck in time and you arent shaming anyone for their personal choices.. keep up the good work!
Thank you! I was raised this way too as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Bodies & sex are sacred. I love your point on how it puts us on equal ground w/ men. The young men I'm around say "modest is hottest."
Ohmygosh THANK YOU. You presented modesty in such a refreshing and honest way that so many people need to hear. I'm so happy I've found your channel!
I am a Muslim and wearing modest clothing and covering my hair liberates me and gives me joy, FYI it’s never been forced 😊
Less is more, as they say ;)
Thank you for creating such content.
Check my playlist for more modest videos.
This video has all the information I was looking for. God Bless you.
I’m binging all of your videos, they’re so empowering. I’m so grateful to have it found you! Your videos are so refreshing 😊
Yes exactly Kelli! I am so happy you are here. Thank you for the sweet encouragement 💓
Modesty actually is liberating to me. It makes me feel like I am not trying to look like anyone else or compete with anyone else and that I have such confidence in my God given value as a woman - that I can portray to others that I have something more to offer than just what my body looks like.
Amen! Same here 😊🙏💝
what a respectable person. I'm 15 and I really got a good reminder about modesty
Please, never stop making videos, they are amazing and very inspiring! :)
💕💕
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this, you're so kind and wholesome.
That said, there's nothing wrong with appreciating your own beauty and blessing the world with it now and then. The key is to always keep it classy.
“Modesty is all about context” very important. Thanks for this video!
Very good!:)
The comment section on your videos are so supportive. You bring out the best even in other people :)
Please Repent Jesus is Godm
The best life lesson I've watched in the internet! Every woman must watch this. 💗💗💗💗
This is beautiful. I've never had any kind of logical explanation like this in my upbringing, your way of telling it makes it so much easier to accept
Ah merci! 😊
