This scene from my childhood was truly touching to how Raiden is willing to do anything to protect the mortals even if sacrificing his immortality. I still have this movie on VHS tape since I was 8 years old even though this was the worst movie, but the action was cool and worth watching nonetheless. I didn't care what anyone said about the second one as a kid I loved both Mortal Kombat movies which I can say the new one is no better than the other one.
Raiden meets with the Elder Gods and is allowed to ask them three questions. He asks why Shao Kahn was allowed to break tournament rules and force his way into Earthrealm, and how Shao Kahn can be stopped. The answers he receives are sparse and ambiguous; one of the Elder Gods, named Shinnok, says that reuniting Kitana with her mother, Sindel, is the key to breaking Shao Kahn's hold on Earthrealm, but another insists that the defeat of Shao Kahn himself is what is needed. Raiden is then asked by the Elder Gods about his feelings and obligations towards the mortals, and what he would be willing to do to ensure their survival. ◾ Reference to Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of The Realms (2021) Raiden and Shao Kahn appear in front of the Elder Gods and ask to declare a new tournament. Raiden also asks to be allowed to participate in the tournament as a contestant, in exchange for his immortality. The Elder Gods granted their wishes.
I find it funny that the voice of the fire elder god changed from his elemental form here to his physical form in the final fight when fire and water stopped shinok
To be fair, they're the Elder Gods. Their rules of Mortal Kombat are clear. They cannot interfere with the affairs or mortals and their realms. The Mortal Kombat tournament's sole purpose was to give all the realms a fighting chance against their enemies. Losing the tournament is not without its consequences and yeah you're right. But if they intervene, they too will suffer the consequences. They will become just as mortal as we are or suffer the same fate as Shinnok
What they also said that we have the ability to change our own fate please connect to your true higherself and you will also find your way back to the elder Gods
This depiction of the Elder Gods always stumps me. Later we learn that the smokey one is Shinnok himself, and Shinnok is in league with Shao Khan to destroy Earthrealm. Are the other two Elder Gods just too dumb to realize that?
1:18 I think this is the key line here. Supposing that the gods know everything, then they also know that Shinnok is planning to break the rules of the tournament. The fire god might have been speaking this line not just in response to Raiden's question, but to Shinnok as well, as perhaps a final warning. That connects at the end with the emotionless expression of the other two gods when Shinnok is imprisoned, as if to say: "We told you so. Weve told you since the world was created and you didnt listen." ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@sonic1135 yeah but in this scene none of them are materialized . We know the ones on the left and right are the women and the older guy eldar god so the one in the middle has to be Shinnok . If you notice it's also the middle one that tells Raiden the lie that Kitana is the key to closing Kahn's portals .

On Earth as it is in heaven all praise due to the most high.
Water Wind and Fire
The valley of the Crescent Moon! Don't take the cup across the seal, Raiden!
LOL and the funny thing is that behind all of those intricate external carvings, the inside of all those buildings are ridiculously simple.
What's the song that starts at 0:09?
The original raiden would have made this movie much better. The original guys voice made that role.
