Don’t swap the armax snorkel for a staino. The safari one has better suction, airflow, water separation and also doesn’t drone next to your ear. For a tourer a staino is a bad decision. For a bush rig yeah sounds cool adds sound to it but the biggest problem be sides how loud it is next to your ear they also create a low air pressure pocket where it can suck in water vapour and sucks that into the engine. I have touched nearly everything on my rig and have toyed with a fair amount of different mods and this is one to avoid IMO
I'm thinking of the guy who went viral from SA Riverland who drove over to WA with the intention his wife with 5 other kids to another man was going to join him and she ditched him after he spend all his money to get over there and didn't have enough to go back.
Mate Ive done some wicked ks with my pooch that’s part husky. And strongly recommend decent neoprene seat covers. Great for bush , beach mess and with the old fur easy to clean up. Not to mention if the doggo has a drink on the seat.
Im here for the link in description for the 4.8 stroker kit! And the comments discussing the 4.8 😂Stoked for you mate gonna be an unreal trip keen to watch the adventures!
Agree, I can say that a brake booster upgrade on my 76 series was the best or second best upgrade (No 1 if the perspective is on basic safety). Thanks for the content. Cheers
Phone and Net? Starlink or Celfi R41? Wondering how or what going to communicate with when go remote? Got to be able to upload all your edited content on here somehow Make sure connect your DCDC ignition wire with Enerdrive setup plus add in a switch in cab and can turn off DCDC from in the cab. Will kill your crank battery otherwise. If got the DCDC set at 50amps, make sure your Alternator can handle a constant 50amp draw plus run all other lights and gear being used, especially at night. The Alternator on the 79 is expensive and awkward location to replace out bush RTT can be great for 1 or 2 night stays but if planning 2 or 3 night stays or longer than a 4man tent can save the morning and evening ritual of packing and setting up bedding each time, especially if want early start. Make sure have wedges or chokes to level the 79 so when sleeping not sliding about all night
I don't mind the old safari snorkel with a ram head, still looks tuff, I feel like the stainless are a bit of a cop magnet might need to keep this one a bit more stealth on a few things
All the best Sam. 👍. I know a lot of people are going on about “another” 79 build, but at least your doing it for the right reasons. I would highly recommend getting some cordless fans for when you are sleeping or just sitting around. The air flow helps with flies and mossies a bit and def keeps you cooler. If you go thru Mt Isa after the red center then give us some notice. A lot of guys out here watch your stuff 👍. Cheers bloke
Who doesn't love a 79. My dream rig is the new 2.8 auto 79 dual cab, with pre rego portals, rear coil flexi conversion and no lift on 33's so the gearing is still good. No lift because they are so tippy off camber.
You will hate yourself if you swap that snorkel out for a stainless one. The noise and the drone is horrendous. Keen to see the end result. I'm not a fan of 79s in general but keen to see the build regardless. As for taking the dogs you might need some sort of water supply we run 2 boxes that go in the foot well. They have a hole for the food bowl and 1 for the water bowl so they can eat and drink as they please and then they alert us when they need out.
maybe see if you can swap the canopy for a lift off still retaining the setup inside just incase you set a base camp and if you wanna do some of the harder tracks seeing as the rig is top heavy to make things more comfortable and not feel as sketchy
This is a wild one but at least there a solid reason to it, my suggestion is to swap out the rear seats to be drawers left and right side, doggies can still chill on top all comfy while utilising space for storage (…..providing you ain’t taking mates with ya in your misses rig on those show trips).
Love the 79 but that is not a budget build lol, half that stuff doesn't need replacing, give the old parts away to people who can use them, no need for a stainless snorkel
I like the 79 but the average person could only dream of owning one so when you say budget friendly I had to laugh but go for still love what you do 🇦🇺👍
It would be neat to really keep this thing budget, keep the 33 inch tyres and see what tracks; if any, you actually get stuck on. & keep a tally of the cost to show how budget it can be. Also, someone must have a TB48 in their shed getting 4.8 and 4.5 confused ;)
Also don’t waste your time putting light force spotties on the front, yes I know you have them as a sponsor but the stedi type x pros will flog any lightforce products
“We gonna build a tourer”. No mate, you, are gonna take it to your sponsors, or pay at a workshop. So u should say, “We are gonna drop this off to get sumthin done, n in the meantime, I’m gonna make lots of my way cool content, sprayed with innuendo, n primary school humour, with a small mix of cool kids phrases. Then I’ll go n pick up my missus Ute, n drop it off at another place to get something else done” So “our new build” doesn’t really make sense. On the flip side, at least you won’t have to take any spares or tools on your trip, cos I’m pretty sure u don’t know how to use em. 👍🍻🇦🇺
What’s the tipping point where there are more TH-camrs driving around Australia in a land cruiser than there are people actually watching? My algorithm is an absolute mess, just thousands of couples driving around.

@@danielpitsios683 yeah I can agree to that so many of them done up but used like a road princess. Don't get me wrong they are a good car but tbh it's a work car, besides the motor everything else is 30 years old or non existent. You put a tune on them and they eat the gearbox and clutch

Pretty confident you can't run coils and portals any more.

Are you going to do a rear track correction.
For the dogs they have those seat covers like the navigator dog seat buddy to protect the seats
Will you be looking at installing the electronic park brake kit?
2 or 4 bolts and remove the back seat and you’ve got a good flat platform for the dogs plus some storage. Maybe some sort of rear track correction

Parabolic leaf springs and some xr6 seats will do you very nicely

100% comfy scheelman buckets for the front. Or at least some falcon seats 😂
Water sealed alternator is a must on a 79
I’d hit up PVS to get their in-car gear with an upgraded head unit and steering wheel controls
Going to have a look at the bendix 4 pot rear brake upgrade kit?
Need to see a coil conversion
Reckon she could do with a bit of window tint for the red centre
I like the 79 but the average person could only dream of owning one so when you say budget friendly I had to laugh but go for still love what you do 🇦🇺👍
I’ve owned one and wouldn’t own another one 👍🏻

If you want it to be cool, you need only one Mod and that’s a for sale sign in the window
35s will be illigal right? I didn't think any state allowed them post rego now?
Biggest mod to put in are cup holders
Don't forget the console fridge
TRUEEEE!
Can't wait for this series Sam!

No insane power gains, no coil conversions, no insane interior mods, pretty budget compared to what it could be 🫡

Portal Axle it, ditch the rear leafs, track correction all in one! MaintaIn stock geo, wider track over stock which will be great with the 35s!
Portlal axles are useless, track corrections I agree with and rear coil conversion. Like sam said, it's a tourer, so no need for portals.
