Yep. You don't need translations to know how this song makes you feel. When the music is this powerful, translations are unnecessary. It hits that hard.
The guitar solo is the very cry of a sorrowful soul.
Don't be surprised about the lump in the throat, it still does it to me after counless listens. It won't be the last time they do this to you either. Kanami is always on the right (lead guitar, genius composer), Miku on the left, wearing the red rose (rhythm guitar, dual and backing vocals and lyricist, the genius that came up with the idea of this band and as there is some magic about her she conjured up four amazing musicians to make it happen)

My favorite number one song by them. Not even batting an eyelash ! It's a masterpiece, pure and simple !
She, Kanami, has so many impressive and technically advanced solos in their playlist but this one, this one to me is arguably the best. Perhaps not the most difficult of hers, but it has soul. It is its own little song within an already beautifully composed and performed song
Band-Maid has an astonishing ability to pack emotion into the music as well as the lyrics. So no matter which languages we speak, we all get the same feelings when we watch and listen to these women play. [Miku has the red rose on her head; Kanami is the one shredding up the birds on her fretboard.]
It's almost unfair that one band can simply perfect whatever they put their mind to. Straight rock? Puzzle. Late 90's rock? Non-fiction days. Late 90's punk rock? Don't Let Me Down. Early 2000's pop punk? DICE. 2000's Power pop rock? Choose Me. Epic rock instrumental? Onset. Rainy day rock ballad? Perfected here with Daydreaming. Happy rock ballad? Endless Story. This list can go on and on. Hell, of all the songs listed above, only Puzzle on that list is a top 5 Band-Maid song IMHO. You haven't even reacted to any of my favorites yet. That's just how damn good they are.

Perfect from beginning to end = BAND-MAID
I've written for years that I thought Daydreaming was not only a Band-Maid classic, but maybe their best composed song, if you had to choose one. It's accessible, beautifully written (thank you Kanami) and performed by five incredibly gifted musicians. And the video is exquisite! Too bad relatively few people even know about it. Thx, Didy!
There's a ridiculously long list of songs that could rightfully claim to be Band-Maid's best composed song and you can't really argue with most of those opinions, but this song deserves credit as the best rainy day ballad ever by any band. That much is certain. 😊

To work out the guitarists: If she has a red rose in her headband it is Miku (Miku Kobato, rythym guitar - silver fronted Zemaitis guitars, backing vocals, band founder, main lyricist, 'little pigeon' - heart and soul of the band). Stands on left between MISA and Saiki, guitar in left ear.
No rose is Kanami (Kanami Tono, Lead guitar, main song composer, shy genius, PRS guitars with bird inlays). Stands far right, guitar in right ear.
You’ll find that Band Maid are quite adept, geniuses really, at composing and arranging in such a way to affect you emotionally, even viscerally. It’s real!💪🏻🤘🏻
Thank you for the great reaction to their masterpiece song! They are very talented musicians, each with different personalities, but they are close friends like sisters, and usually unpretentious and adorable people like comedians. And they always have an altruistic devotion to fans, band members, and everyone. I think it's reflected in what makes their music feel happy. And the "Maidiacs" who loves them also reflects it, and they are all interesting and fun people. These things are even more important factors in my love for Band-Maid. I think I've said before I also only recently found Band-Maid, and this is the first time I've heard this song. It is quieter than some of the others, but I like it. For me Akane and Misa's solid beats set a good tempo for the songs, maybe that's the thread that goes through their music.
It's a fantastic ballad. Many people think this is one of their best songs. I actually like Endless Story even more as a ballad. If you haven't listened to that yet, give it a shot (has a music video on their channel).
Misa & Akane are a phenomenal rhythm section, it must be a comfort for Kanami too know that she can go to those two with a riff, concept, idea.......and they will make magic ! ❤🎙🎸🥁😎👌

Possibly this is the 150th time I've listened to this song. And if so, it's the 150th time I've had head-to-toe goosebumps.
They are from Heaven or something aren't they? 2 years now and I listen to them everyday. in the car, a work. and haven't gotten bored....not even close. I'm 57 yrs , guitar/bass player....... maiden, Metallica., Dragon force ,...the usual list of favorite bands, all the iconic metal / hard Rock bands. These 5 exceptional young women are to me currently uneaqualed in composition , but also ability and creativiey. Their connectivity playing. ...its like together, they bring a musical entity to life. You are songs 5 deep in a list of over 100 songs Didy. LOL its beyond a journey. you'll love it and they are such humble, loving people who adore their fans. I appreciate your calmness as well....it need it after every day work insanity . Band-Maid changed my musical life. keep going, see you on the next one lol
Misa, Bass Player: I played piano till 6th grade, then started playing guitar from 1st year junior high, and I was a vocal/guitar when I was 1st year high school. At 2nd year high school, a senior student asked me to join their band as a bassist. I was interested in playing bass, so I decided to join the band as a bassist.

This song and Puzzle are always swapping placed as my favorite song. I do hope you get the chance to listen to Puzzle. Another one that will make you tear up is About Us. That song is a love letter to the fans during the pandemic. Also, Miku is the one singing backing vocals and has the red flower.

G'day Didy. Glad you ventured further into Band Maid videos. Daydreaming is one that especially benefits from no pauses, for the build up and impact. Maidiacs have many favourite songs, but this song appears to be in most fans top tier. Beautiful bass tones, perfect drum accents, wonderful vocals, and arguably the most fitting solo Kanami ever composed. A Masterpiece.

Yep this one is very emotional for sure if you read the lyrics it hit you even more. That solo by Kanami is just out of this world and hit you like truck full of emotions! This song is magical and easily one of their best (a lot of fans rank it as #1). Even Kanami said in an interview that this song was the composition she is the most proud of (she is the composer of the band). Easy way to recognize Miku: she is the one with a red rose on her head and plays guitars with metal fronts (Zemaitis guitars, she even have her own signature model from that brand: the flappy pigeon), Kanami plays all the guitar solos and use PRS guitars with different colors (she have a purple one, a green one, a red one... but no signature model yet). You are yet to see how wide their range is, for another side of them you need to watch Rinne MV and Manners/Blackhole (this one will be a rollercoaster to say the least) then Blooming, Warning, Bubble, No God, Yolo, Different... well all of their MV actually since they don't have a bad songs and they don't sound the same. Looking forward for your next reaction PO!
Too many never check the lyrics. Miku is one of the best lyricist I have ever heard/read.
Didy, if no one already told you: Generally, the harmonies and other supporting vocals are Miku (rhythm guitarist). On acoustic live performances, and occasionally when it's all hands on deck shouting into their mics, Kanami joins in. She has a sweet voice and harmonizes beautifully with Saiki when she does those acoustic numbers.

For more emotional tracks you should listen to 'About Us' it is a letter to the fans from the band about how they miss us due to the pandemic.
My favorite song by BM.. Saikis emotional voice, backed by Miku is magic..Misa putting the feeling and backbone in the song..Only Akane can add an unusual drum pattern(jazz style) and absolutely make it fit perfectly..And Kanami did on guitar what Saiki was doing with her voice, pure emotion solo....fantastic !
Daydreaming is a masterpiece. Kanami's creation is absolutely beautiful and her solo absolutely heartbreaking. Saiki's vocals are sublime. As BAND MAID says in Manners "Our rock never dies ever.Forever"!!!

Probably my fav "ballad" of all time, one very special song from Band-Maid, as many fav songs I have of Band-Maid, "Daydreaming" is always high up on any list.
Recently I have been "digging" in SCANDAL's discography and found a few supreme ballads ( "Bright", "One Piece", "Burn" or even the cover for "Secret Base") but no matter how strong these songs hit me, there is nothing I can put on top of Band-Maid's "Daydreaming" and Kanami just slashes my heart into pieces with that piercing solo. Wonderful stuff... oh yeah, and Saiki is pure perfection!

Everyone has a "sweet spot," a place where music sits just perfect for their ears. Everyone's sweet spot is different, and that's good, we're all unique people! But my goodness, BAND-MAID just own that place, they're just perfect. Even songs that wouldn't normally excite me because of their genre - Black Hole is way out of my comfort zone - they find a way to do things which make me love the songs anyway.
Daydreaming has everything a song needs (and more) to be an instant classic po. Band-maid magic, as for emotion no matter how many times i see and hear this song, Mincho's dbl. slide into her solo grabs me by the throat everytime. But i can say that to the opening of Acoustic "anemone" also oh and puzzle plus acoustic smile lol you get the idea.
They have come a long way as a band, after starting as a pop/punk/rock band.
Where they were quite heavily directed by the record label.
With the latest 2 albums they've moved into something closer to bands as Maximum The Hormone, which is a japanese extreme-metal band.
According to lead guitar Kanami it was one of the hardest songs to compose.
I've heard it was kind of "ordered" by Saiki, which might tell a deal about why she put so much effort into it, and why it suits her voice so good. As you've said: it has been hard to place them sound-vice, since they've been all over the place.
One of their most beloved songs is "About us", and a love letter to their fans. In the beginning of the COVID they saw their fans struggling, so Miku wanted to make a song of hope. Quite sure she made Kanami compose it while herself taking care of the lyrics. About the song... Very jazz influenced but still "them".
The song was meant to be played at their concert at the legendary Budokan. Numbers were falling and there was a chance for making it. Sadly infections did rise again, and it had to be cancelled, so they had to make it an online concert.. Which has become a tradition for them to have at least 3 concerts a year. Great reaction video to the great Band-Maid power ballad "Daydreaming". Kanami's soaring solo in this song which erupts from nowhere is incredible. Every member is at the top of their game in contributing to this masterpiece. A tip to quickly identify Miku Kobato is that she always wears a red rose (think fiery) in her hair and Kanami Tono always wears a white flat bonnet style hair covering (think white hot). Saiki Atsumi always wears a blue rose (think blue ice queen) and Misa always has very long hair and goes barefoot (think barefoot assassin) during lives. Akani Hirose, of course, is the beastly gorilla behind the drums of tiny hat (sadly retired) fame.
Yeah, I can feel your soul Saiki. Band-Maid makes it too easy to LOVE them. With 5 superior talents, the emotions and magic just pour out. Another reason why BAND-MAID is Awesome. Peace.

I have a pavlovian response to this song; the allergies seem to act up as soon as I hear Saiki's quick breath at the beginning. Love Akane's toms in the second verse, along with MISA's bass, and Saiki's plaintive regrets about lost love - and then Kanami shows us how it >feels< and, dammit this pollen is getting to me again.
"I have no idea to this day what those two Japanese ladies were singing about. Truth is...I don't wanna know. Some things are best left unsaid. I like to think they were singing about something so beautiful it can't be expressed in words...and makes your heart ache because of it. You are actually missing a major part of why they are successful. Miku's lyrics, even in translation, are some of best being written this days. Miku is highly respected for her lyrics in Japan, especially in the music industry.

I've come to realise that Miku totally brings a standard of lyric writing that is fitting for the quality of composition and musicianship this band produces. Not just the writing...her and Saiki's delivery. An exceptional bunch of maids in every way 👍❤
The only Band Maid reaction videos I know of that have been blocked were when reactors showed videos posted by people who ripped them off of Blue Rays and posted them. If you react to anything on their official channel, I don't think you'll have any issues. Anyways, great reaction!

Most stuff from BM official lives or MVs wont tend to get blocked except a few new ones like 'sense'- it used to get blocked a lot when it was new- dunno if thats still true- theres plenty of reactions to it up tho and plenty dont pause either so not sure.
Whatever order you do them in I hope you get to their other ones that all fans agree should be the music videos- like blooming, warning, dice, manners -all great.
As others have said already, "Daydreaming" is a MASTERPIECE. Band-Maid has many masterpeices (more than any band I've ever heard), but "Daydreaming" is at the top of the BM Masterpiece list. Personally, I would also include "Blooming" (MV), "Manners" (MV or live), "Black Hole" (live), "Puzzle" (live), "Secret My Lips" (MV) or "Secret Maiko Lips" (MV) and "Gion-Cho" (MV). The last two titles listed are by a copy-cat, not at all evil, alter-ego band called Band-Maiko. (Band-Maiko is a story almost as long as this post). There's more, many more songs that are BM masterpieces, but I've worn all the letters off my keyboa... 🕊
This music video starts with a few seconds of white noise. You should know that several of their videos star with several seconds of pure silence, causing some reactors to start raising the volume in their headphones, only to regret it when the music starts. Offhand I can think of "Manners", "Bubble" and "Don't You Tell ME" which, by the way, sound completely different to each other.

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。Yeah! One of seven wonders for Band-Maid is Misa's bass playing. It clearly stands out but never disturbs the song Saiki and Miku are singing. On the contrary, I feel sometimes as if I see a 2-meter tall third singer with beautiful baritone voice singing behind the front women.

I understand that Saiki asked Kanami to compose a ballad for her and Daydreaming was born. In view of Kanami's views on Saiki it is hard not to believe that there is a lot of emotion in this from Kanami's side and her solo is a masterpiece - remember Kanami says that a good solo evokes emotions. All in all a brilliant piece of composition, arranging and performance. What a band and one to be treasured.
Didy, thank you for your reaction. This song is one of many Band-Maid songs that can be called - a Masterpiece!!! Sheer genius.
That's just it... you can't define MISA's bass tone other than God Tier. Honestly it is the mix between the deep rich dark yet somehow bright tone of MISA's bass and playing that contrasts so elegantly with Saiki's vocals. I think Band-Maid's incredible use of contrasting dark and bright tones throughout their music is what makes them unique and brilliant.
In top 10. Used to be in top 5 and 3. This is the case with Band Maid, the ranking is always changing, discovering new old gems like Matchless gum, Unfair game, Order, Freezer.
Didy, great reaction. Miku is the backing vocalist. Now try 'Puzzle' the acoustic version of a 'devastating ballad full of feelings' with Saiki pouring her soul as a flow of breeze in every word, while Kanami creates an 'horizon of hope and love' with her guitar.
Together, their sound is the real meaning of what is important.

'Puzzle' has two versions, the rock version is a massive expression of power and the acoustic version...is naked, totally naked and intimate in which you can see and listen the sound of the skin in both Kanami and Saiki.

Didy, Band Maid doesn't block reactions of their videos when they are from their official channel. And many times they don't block them when they are from unofficial sources. Usually it's only when someone is posting things from the DVD's/BluRays, that their RMA steps in to block something. They will and do claim the monetization for using their songs and video's, but that is just standard practice.
And yes, halfway through Kanami's solo it always seems to get very dusty wherever I'm at while listening to this song. It also happens when I listen to About Us.
Kanami said during an interview that she writes her solos to evoke emotions in the listener. And boy howdy does she.
EDITED TO ADD: Miku is Secondary and Backing Vocals and Harmonies, her guitar is in the left channel, Kanami sometimes sings backing vocals and harmonies and her guitar is in the right channel which during solos may bleed into the center.

I am enjoying your journey. If available you might try the acoustic Catharsis. Fine example of how music is the universal language. This one invokes strong emotions and I dont think your watery eyes and lump in your throat are unusual. If you overlay the words the Kanami solo is a heartfelt cry reminicent of the best of Hendrix or Santana.

Believe me, the feeling of having a lump in your throat or having chills running down your spine is probably something many of us know when we hear this song. :)
Actually, I was thinking during the day that today is not a good day for this song, because I might get into trouble explaining the reaction to it in front of others. This song just hits a sensitive spot in my chest every time again. That's why I'm glad I only saw your video now when I got home. :)
Every instrument, every note in this song, is so precisely placed and emphasizes the mood of the song. And if someone doesn't feel it right from the beginning, Kanami brings out the big club with her solo and hammers the feelings into them. :) Like being run over by a truck, and her slides into the solo are the screeching of the brakes. She really knows how to let her guitar scream/cry in desperation. :)
For me, this song is not only THE masterpiece of this band, but the more I think about it, maybe the best song in general that I know. As much as it hits me over and over again, I just love it.

A jewel of an MV and a very beautiful song. All their MV's are superb and very well made. Try the MV that helped them break out and get better known 'Thrill' or one of their recent ones, like 'Sense' or 'Warning! (which has explosions and racing cars and other great stuff!). Or any MV, actually, as they're all excellent. If you ever want to treat us to a double bill then the gorgeous song 'Manners' (which also has a superb MV!) and the 220 BPM 'Black Hole', both live from their 2021 online gig, were presented as a double bill. Or more live stuff! Loving your reactions!

Actually, if you hear this song carefully, this is the longest solo Kanami ever played. Her solo was going on throughout the whole song! It's.... beautiful....
Band Maid is amazing in that while they are generally called hard rock they are really difficult to define. If someone asks me "Who do they sound like?", it's hard to give an example that covers their spectrum. For your next reaction, and something harder, I suggest you try RINNE.
Miku has the red flower on her bonnet second vocals...Kanami plays the lead guitar (solos). Her guitars tend to have colours..where as Miku's guitars are engraved metal front...They usually also stand in the same places...As you look them...Miku ..front left..Saiki...front right...Kanami far right..MISA far left..And Akane rear center...Always tricky to get the members tuned in to head when you first start listening to a band....Think is..their are band's I have listened to for over 30 years..and still do not know the members names!...But I know BAND-MAID's..I know more about them then I do any other band I have ever listened to....They are something truly special...Oh!..and this is my personal No1. BAND-MAID track.....This MV came out 3 days after I lost my partner to cancer in 2017...So it has great meaning to me.

Misa er bare fantastisk på bassen, med fede rytmer og herlig drivende lyd.. og så har vi gorillaen Akane som er helt råe på trommerne.. og for og toppe kremen har du Saiki med hendes fantastiske stemme, der bare selv om man ikke forstår teksten, gjør lyden komplett.

Miku is Rythm guitar and vocals - upright bonnet, red flower in her hair , "twin tails". In new'ish videos usually plays one of her metalfront Zemaitis guitars. Often sings.
Kanami is Lead guitar - flat bonnet, no flower, long hair often in front of her face. Usually plays a PRS guitar without metal on body. Very rarely sings (into a microphone, she can definitely sing)
Basically:
Shredding/solo = Kanami
Singing = Miku
(With a few very rare exceptions)

Jumping up and down = Miku
Swaying side to side = Kanami
My absolute love is Kanami. She has such a great personality and she’s so beautiful.
It's always such a pleasure to watch some one react to daydreaming the first time, especially when they really get into the groove and Kanamincho hits her solo and time stop's.

If you don't get a lump in your throat from listening to "Daydreaming" then you're not alive. Every member is no better than the next and they are all equally highlighted in every song, no member out-shines the other....... and that is what sets Band-Maid apart from many bands.
Personally I don't mind if a reactor stops a song to cover their ass from strikes, no problem with that. I have a problem when some stop but don't go back 10sec or so to start over and lead back in. My biggest peeve is unequal sound levels between reactor and video sound....yours are perfect.
I wondered how long it would take you to use the word 'perfect' to describe this. Pretty much straight away. Everyone does, probably because it is. English, Danish, or Japanese, the language doesn't matter, you know what the song is about, and you feel the way you were meant to feel. I just hope they never turn their power to evil.
