The thing I didn’t hear in this video is, this project was envisioned and built in 6 months by the great mind PM Abiy Ahmed. I don’t think your guide omitted that fact intentionally but it was all Dr. Abiy envisioning, organizing and collecting the funds. Let’s give credit where it’s due. Also, he has already raised funds and three other mega tourist attraction projects are already underway in three different parts of the country due in 2022. We thank him for his vision, love and transformation of the country ✊🏾

Wode Maya, I recommend that if you get sometime in Ethiopia, to go and visit the Jamaican Rastafarians who settled in Shashemane over 50 years ago on a land they were given by Emperor Haile Selassie. They are an interesting lot and have their church, small museum and own businesses over there. I must alert you that they do smoke their holy herb within their church compound, both men and women alike.

As a Kenyan and a big fan of the Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed, the brain behind this resort, I must say that Ethiopia has had visionary leaders before but this current Prime Minister is cut from a totally different piece of clothe, a genius of creativity in his own right. Entoto Park is just one of the various beautification projects that have been introduced in Addis Ababa and its breathtaking.

@@michaelm1440 Even in Kenya where I come from we complain about tribalism and we too had our moment of shame and close to collapse in 2007/2008 Post election violence but that did not mean that our then President was the worst man on earth. His qualities are talked about even today and Kenya moved on from that very ugly part of our history. I am seized of what is happening in the Tigray region and it is very unfortunate indeed. It should'nt be happening in the 21st Century but as you understand, citizens do not just wake up one morning to start a fight or civil war for the sake of it. There's always a background to any conflict and both of the waring sides can claim all manner of reasons as to why the fight broke out. Unfortunately, whatever the reasons for the war, it cannot justify the killing of innocent civilians in Tigray, Ahmara or Afar regions and the sensless and unnecessary civil war must stop forthwith. That said, on this Wode Maya its all about celebrating the good progress in any African country. We celebrate good initiatives and sometimes we also celebrate the brains behind those phenomenal developmental initiatives. It is in that regard that I celebrate Dr Abiy Ahmed for the great ideas he has brought to help develop Addis Ababa because even if we are to deny it, Entoto Park development plus others like Unity Park are definitely his brain child. I believe that Ethiopia which is a 7000 years old country has overcome many challenges in the past from the battle of Adwa, the famine, Derg and this ugly phase of the war in Tigray will be overome because of the strong and unique culture that binds you together. We stand with Ethiopia and pray for Ethiopia every day that this war shall stop and very soon.

To add some experiances from this project, Kuriftu is one of the best zone of the park. But the project covers about 1300 ha mountainous deep forest at about 2700 to 3000 meters above the sea level.
After, the government master planned the mountain, then every one was invited for developing it with relatively smaller cost as quickly as possible.
Therfore the developers came up with a cost effective, fast and yet with high quality and beautiful solutions. Since the place in woods rather than mansions building, permanent camping tents, what about using the gift of the mountain for cable ways, extensive network of roads and other facilities were constructes with very little destruction to the mountain and relatively smaller cost.
No foregin debt, no foreign contractors involved, the park was build with smaller imported inputs, with local skills, knowledge and inputs a natural park of 1300 ha was completed in less than 7 months.
The bottom line is Africa should look to the inside than looking for Europeans for money and Idea. If we do that it is our own no one can claim it.
