    As an historian the history of the Ga is always fascinating to me,especially their connections to my ethnicity, Yoruba. They are said to be the closest to the Yoruba after Ewe and Fon. In the 17th centuries, the Ga,Fanti,Ewe and Yoruba-Oyo empire formed alliance to defend and stopped Ashanti expansion Eastwards at a town in Togo called Atakpame One could see some similarity,especially in veneration of Twins. In Yoruba town of Ogbomosho, there are many Ga who have been living and doing business in the town as far as 18th century or more. According to oral history,the Yoruba who came to trade with the Ga in the 18th century in Mokola market are from Ogbomosho.

    In my city in Brasil. We mix the palm oil with cassava flour to make something very similar to eat with our fish cooked with palm oil also. We too celebrate the twins ritual in a special day and some people cooks special meal and invite people for the special occasion. I just love to see all the my connection to the land of my ancestors. The religion is also very important part of our everyday life and we also do very similar ritual. I feel very proud of my heritage. ( Salvador, Bahia- Brasil) ❤️🇧🇷

      The truth is, tell your own story through literature, forget the professor studies about us. It is their behavior to make you inferior. They don't have a culture as rich as Africa, that is the reason they use any means to debunk our culture. Do they even understand Christianity too? Let's focus on telling our story in our way. Africa is the focus now in case you don't know. Some of these whites have begun to see Africa from a different perspective. The professor may be one of the racists who don't see anything good in Africa, and you know, philosophy is all about idealism and realism. So you can also debunk his theory if you know the approach to take.

    Hi Maya, honestly, I'm very much older than you. But I like your humbleness towards all brothers and Sisters and you indeed are a motivator for us all young and old. I was very much happy when you came over in SA a few months ago. You even managed to make it to Mall of Africa (MOA). i stay about 5 - 10 minutes from the mall. I like it when i give youngsters a word of advice, please don't feel offended because i believe we learn from each other...and i am giving you this info out of love just as i would do to my younger brother; here is the advise that will make you a caring and good boyfriend, please don't get me wrong, i am not saying you are not; Look here Maya, Trudy really loves you, and when you speak with her, be it joking or pranking each other, as a woman, women tend to be easily offended and are very fragile. So i recommend that in most cases, let them feel like they are winning in every conversation that you engage in. It is also good to say sorry bbes in most cases where there seem to be, kind of heated argument. But here is where it matters more; when with friends, be it in the spotlight, let her do the talking a lot because in most cases, women may feel like they are being sidelined and that may indeed affect their affection towards their boyfriends. In cases where you enjoying, make her presence be felt as well, don't act like she is not there. Young man, that woman loves you and i pray that God be with you always. Please do not be offended, its a tip from one of many of your brothers in the continent. When she gives you something, be it food, drink or any other thing you have asked for, it is always good to say; thank you babe....im proud of you guys, stay humble....

    • @flash5230
      @flash5230 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @ShayTBD - Greatings from our ancestos. In African cosmology, fundermentally, we do not count time; we only celebrate the ever present cycles within cycles - the eternal now. All events are percieved in the context of re-occuring cycles. If you find any African culture or tradition, as it were, that counts days, months or years, it would be some derivative of western / colonial influence. Stay blessed.

    Brilliant narrative from my Ga brother!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽Most of our history has been orally cascaded to us, so there's bound to be differences of opinion or discrepancies. In the main, Kudos to him bcos he's done justice to the Ga tradition and culture. Tsua omanye aba!! 💪🏾👌🏾🙏🏾

      American Thanksgiving was originally a Gratitude for the Harvest Festival by the Indigenous people in America but after the Pilgrims came to colonize it was corrupted by their eventual theft and deception.
