Aah a new video! I can say I gladly watched the ads for this 😊 The quality is incredible as always. Also thanks for reminding me for like the 5th time that I have yet to finish Mistborn 😂 I keep reading other books somehow, even though I really like it! I really gotta get to it now. Also I laughed so hard at us still not being sure how to pronounce Kvothe 😂 If I'd have to pick a favorite book character, even though there's many I like, I absolute love Auri, especially after reading The slow regard of silent things. But I also love Yennefer in the Witcher, probably because I relate to her a lot. So cool that you included Geralt! Another favourite has to be Howl from Howl's moving castle, it was just a delight to read the story with him in it. Aand my comment turned out to be super long again, my apologies :D I just get too excited typing while watching the video 😂 (Also 💜 at Spensa in the honorable mentions!)
Thank youuu! :D Haha you better finish Mistborn! I can relate tho, I keep getting side tracked with other books when I should be finishing Wheel of Time or elantris. I've pretty much given up on trying to pronounce Kvothe, I've tried 3 different ways and I still get comments saying it's wrong so I no longer care 😂😂 Auri is amazing!! Ahh I should have at least mentioned her in my honorable mentions. I'm tempted to make a video just ranking my favorite Kingkiller characters. yennefer is great too! Howl is an underrated character, I never hear people talk about that book much. Haha and no worries, long comments are great! 😀
You talk about Dalinar being an inspiration, you sir are an inspiration! I can't wait to be as good at editing as you! My Current Top 10 1.) Rand al'Thor 2.) Dalinar Kholin 3.) Jorg Ancrath 4.) Shallan Davar 5.) Nynaeve al'Meara 6.) Kvothe 7.)Tyrion Lannister 8.) Sand dan Glokta 9.) Matrim Cauthon 10.) Ender Wiggin
It's always great to see a new video from Jay! Kvothe is one of my favourite characters, a lot of those in the KingKiller Chronicles are exceptional. I almost feel like a re-read is coming on but, Stormlight is next on my list. I've seen the Dalinar quote about hypocrites before and I've always liked it so I'm looking forward to delving more into his character. As always your videos just ooze quality and character, great work!
I was tempted to put Auri or Elodin on this list as well since they're both brilliant. Maybe I'll have to make a video all about Kingkiller Chronicle characters XD I hope you enjoy reading through Stormlight! Thanks for watching! :)
@@CapturedInWords Auri and Elodin were the first two that came to my mind after Kvothe, and of course Denna. That'd be a great video, I'd definitely watch it. Anything KingKiller just feed it directly into my system. Thanks, I've heard such praise for Stormlight so I'm sure I won't be disappointed.
After reading Assassin's Apprentice I felt so bad for poor Fitz. I need to continue that series at some point. Vin is such a fantastic character and I really loved her arc in Era 1. Dalinar is still my favorite, followed shortly behind Kaladin (as of 300 pages into WoR). I really see them battling out the top spot. Rand is cool (I'm also only up to Fires of Heaven) but Perrin I think is still my favorite of the bunch. I also LOVED Moiraine. Geralt is fantastic! Currently using DaVinci Resolve but you have me wanting to learn Premiere. Hmmmmm. Great video as always Jay, keep up the good work and fantastic content.
My suggestion: don't give up on Fitz! Read the other books (I only skipped the Liveship Traders trilogy) and LOVED the three characters (Fitz, Fool and Nighteyes).
I’m glad that Drizzt made the honorable mentions. He’s a wonderful character that appears to stay the same but manages to evolve so naturally as the stories progress. His swordsmanship and heart are equally legendary. Love the list though!
Captured in Words For sure! What a great duo. Also, Jarlaxle and Artemis are an awesome pairing too. And just to fan boy a bit more, the Drizzt/Artemis story arc is so satisfying as well. Great videos man!
I love your video! Keep up the great work always! I've always said that your video editing is super good, but it's only until I (recently) started my own Booktube channel that I realized the extent of that. Also, I agree so much regarding what you said about Kvothe.
Ooo I just finished Words of Radiance and CANNOT stop thinking about it. I love Shallan and have warmed up to Kaladin quite a bit. And Fitz couldn’t catch a break in The Farseer trilogy haha!!! Awesome video! Thanks for sharing!!!
Great video! I love Sam as well . It's been some time since I read Name of the Wind, but I loved it and enjoyed Kvothe's character. Thanks for sharing :)
Hadrian Blackwater and Royce Melborn from Ryria are among my all-time favorites. From the same series, Arista Essendon and Thrace Wood when she becomes Modina Novronian are equally as awesome.
My top ten (in no particular order and not restricted to 1 per series) 1. Anomander Rake from Malazan 2.Mat from WOT 3. Kaladin from Stormlight 4. Tavi from Codex Alera 5. Quick Ben from Malazan 6. Locke from Gentlemen Bastards 7. Hoid from Sanderson’s cosmere 8. Sam from LOTR 9. Shallan from Stormlight 10.Moiraine from WOT
I personally would add to your list Kip from lightbringer series, Kylar Stern from Night Angel trilogy and wayne from mistrborn (wayne and wax trilogy). Also- great job, keep doing that buddy
Amazing video and great choices! I'm a little sad Kaladin isn't on the list, I was expecting him to be number one, haha! He is definitely mine! But your no. 1 is one of my favorite characters too, he's so awesome! Also, I finally found someone who loves Logan Nine-fingers! I mostly hear people talk about Glokta. Not that I don't like him but I always found Logan way more interesting!
I was real tempted to put Kaladin on this list! I actually originally had him on but ended up switching him out for Dalinar. Kaladin is awesome though! Glokta is super interesting, but yeah Logen Ninefingers deserves more love, he was my favorite POV character
Ooooh really nice to see Lightsong got an honourable mention! And Thomas Senlin too! ☺️ I can’t wait to fully immerse myself in the Stormlight Archive series. Also tempted to pick up Abercrombie’s work too. Great video!
Most of my favorite fantasy characters are from ASOIAF tbh. But here are my top 10 ASOIAF characters 1. Daenerys 2. Jaime Lannister 3. Bran 4. Arya 5. Jon Snow 6. Cersei 7. Euron 8. Tyrion 9. Barristan 10. Catelyn
All those characters are awesome!! (well I haven't read Lightbringer yet so idk about Andross Guile but I'm sure they're great!) I was tempted to add Lightsong, Jasnah, and Hoid to my list but didn't want to include TOO many Sanderson characters XD One of these days I'll have to make a video on my favorite Cosmere characters
Ahhhh so proud of you for recognizing Samwise as first class. Sam is a simple character done well: one could argue that there isn’t a lot of complexity to his character, but that is by no means a criticism in his case. I would claim that his simplicity comes full circle and surprises you in the later acts as you recognize how profound he is when all along you sort of took him for granted, or something you thought you had figured out early on and forgotten about. Granny Weatherwax and Death from the Discworld are some of the characters that I love the most, and I really can’t recommend them enough, but one of the most crucial and biting characters I’ve come across was Princess Orual from Till We Have Faces. I’ve also really come to like Geralt of Rivia from reading the books, and applaud your recommendation. If you haven’t read the Master and Commander books; I highly recommend them for Lucky Jack Aubrey and Stephen Maturin. Not fantasy, but the deep understanding of the characters’ psyche is excellent yet subtle, and the historical fiction is fantastic. Also, Jay, you presented a compelling depiction of the characters without spoilers. A+++ as always.
1. Achmed the Snake from Elizabeth Haydon’s The Symphony of Ages series 2. Dalinar from The Stormlight Archive by Sanderson 3. Kvothe from Kingkiller Chronicles by Rothfuss 4. Samwise Gamgee from The Lord of the Rings by Tolkien 5. Moiraine from The Wheel of Time 6. Croaker from The Black Company by Cook 7. Grunthor from SoA by Haydon 8. Anomander Rake from Malazan by Erikson 9. Jondralyn from The Five Warrior Angel series by Brian Lee Durfee 10. Anborn from Haydon’s SoA
The WoT was painful for me the first few times. I tried to read it 2 times (getting to Book 7 and Book 9 respectively) before I finally finished it the 3rd time. I have to say, it was completely worth it.
So many characters to choose from lol Mat Cauthon Vin Kylar Stern Walker Boh Nynaeve al Meara Bilbo Baggins Kaladin Rand al Thor Taran*Assistant Pig Keeper* Jean Tannen No particular order
Locke Lamora and Jean Tannen. My god!!! They both are a master class of how to wright "evolution" and "progress" and the way a character becomes so skilled. I love them
1) Ciri (The Witcher) 2) Logen Ninefingers (First Law) 3) Vin (Mistborn) 4) Geralt (The Witcher) 5) Glokta (First Law) 6) Kaladin (Stormlight Archive) 7) Gandalf (LOTR) 8) Fitzchivilry and Nighteyes (Realm of the Elderlings) 9) Orso (Age of Madness) 10) Pug (Magician) (Yeah The Witcher and First Law are probably my two favourite series 😅)
Awesome list!! Honestly I wish I included Ciri in my video since she's one of my favorites too. I love all these characters, except the two I don't know (Orso and Pug) since I haven't read those books yet but I plan on it!
Damn. I always defend Kvothe in Reddit and I think exactly like you. He's a good liar, not a "Mary Sue". You're the first person I've heard expressing my type of thoughts when speaking of Kvothe.
1. Aragorn - Lord of the Rings 2. Kaladin Stormblessed - Stormlight Archive (After Rhythm of War he is almost #1) 3. Matrim Cauthon - Wheel of Time 4. Sevro au Barca - Red Rising 5. Myfanwy Thomas - The Rook 6. Tyrion Lannister - Game of Thrones 7. Shallan Davar - Stormlight Archive 8. Kelsier - Mistborn 9. Severus Snape - Harry Potter 10. Kvothe - Name of the Wind
From reading these comments, I feel I must say y'all are sleeping on Druss the Legend from David Gemmell's Drenai series. If you like characters who start out sever underdogs. You'll really enjoy Simon Snowlocke from Tad William's Memory, Sorrow and Thorn. Michael Carpenter from the Dresdan Files... the perfect Paladin has been written. These are some of my favorites that I feel are often missed in these discussions.
My List (not in a particular order) 1. Logen Ninefinger (First Law) 2. Sevro (Red Rising, have not read the 4th and 5th book yet) 3. Corban, Farrell, Dath (Faithful and the Fallen, I know it's cheating to have all 3 as one but their friendship is soooo good) 4. Perrin Aybara (WoT) 5. Drem 6. Bleda ( both from Of Blood and Bone trilogy) 7. Taniel (Powder Mage trilogy+ Gods of Blood and Powder) 8. Royce and Hadrian (Ririya) 9. Ragnar (Red Rising) 10. Robb Stark and Jon Snow (ASoIaF) Ok I kinda cheated but you can't make me narrow it down even more I already didn't include characters I love like Mauvin Pickering, King Alric, Darrow, Pax, Stannis Baratheon, Matrim Cauthon, Loial and more
Farseer Trilogy Spoilers Verity’s death, or sacrifice rather, absolutely destroyed me. He was such a genuine, good guy who gave up everything in such a bittersweet way. The way his story and character was written really resonated with me. I’m pretty sure I cried for every single major character death in those books honestly lmao
Pretty much the same list .Mine only replaces Sam with Min because I see her being more in a way of support for Rand than Sam for Frodo. Very nice work, absolutely love your content !
Arsh Grewal bro (or sis) I simply unabashingly love love broken characters like hers. She is literally several people I met IRL and I don’t see her archetype in books that often. Plus she has a potential for Doors of Stone to play even larger role. I adore Rothfuss for writing her. I do.
@@Morfeusm While I understand why people find Denna annoying, I also think people don't give her character enough credit. Like you mentioned, you don't see her archetype in books that often, and I think there's a lot to be revealed about her in book 3 (like her use of magic, possible fae qualities, and the secret of her patron).
Havent reaad too many fantasy series but so far heres my list: Jorg ancrath Jalan kendeth Kaladin Vin Sazed Adelina amouteru Kelsier Snorri van snagason Glokta Logen
One little addition to Rand Al'Thor: He may be interesting up to book 6, but after you will have passed the famous "slog" after book 10, Rand Al'Thor makes a completely turn and is defined as one of the most complex character arcs in all of fantasy. You have seen nothing yet in book 5...
Seen this video a few times, love it! You should make a top 10 fav fantasy series of all time, that would be awesome! I’m guessing Stormlight Archive and KKR are your top 2 fav series?
My 10: Locke LaMora (Gentleman Bastards) Hadrian Blackwater (Riyria) Suri (Legends of the First Empire) Celaena Sardothian/Admin Galathynius (Throne of Glass) Fitzchivalry Farseer (Rhelm of the Elderlings) Rin and Kitay (Poppy Wars) Mia Cordova (Nevernight) Aren (The Ember Blade) Rasty (The Greatcoats)
He definitely deserves a spot- and high on the list! (And the actor did a lot for the character, also). I love characters physically indered (?), like him and Glokta. As I've become disabled some years ago, it's painful sometimes, but also rewarding and moving to read about them- and in such bland and direct terms, too.
In no order and trying to keep it to one character per series Drizzt Kvothe Kelsier Kaladin Rand al thor Geralt of rivia Wei shi lindon Waxillium ladrian Mia Corvere Eregon
Without a specific order I would say my top 10 are Mat Cauthon (Wheel of time) Nynaeve Al'meara (Wheel of time) Auri (kingkiller chronicle) Kvothe (kingkiller chronicle) Artemis Entreri (many forgotten realms books like The Legend of Drizzt or Sellswords) Danillo Than (songs and swords) Erevis Cale (Erevis Cale trilogy) Fitz Chivalry along with Nighteyes (Farseer) Logan Ninefingers (The First Law) Elric of Melnibone (Elric of Melnibone saga) Unfortunatelly I haven't read anything of Brandon Sanderson yet but it is on my to do list since everyone says how great of an author he is.
in no particular order, Pug/Milamber, Mara of the Acoma, Anomander Rake, Matrim Cauthon, Silk/Prince Kheldor, Aura Stark, Kvothe, Nobody, Nakor, Thom Merrilyn. All absolutely wonderful and real characters with flaws and sadness but also with the promise of hope and joy. Honourable mention Aridhol that guy does so much with so little.
Came here expecting Logan ninefingers, was very pleasantly surprised by Glokta! I ended up LOVING his character, as dark a villain as he is. The audio version of him is just perfect
Haha well hey good thing I put both Logen ninefingers and Glotka on the list! I definitely agree about the audio version, actually I meant to mention the narration for Glotka in the video but completely forgot. Steven Pacey does such an amazing narration!
Rand al'Thor is an amazing character, if you're only on book 5 or 6 you're in for a real treat. Just bear with him until the end, I promise it'll all be worth it. Also, I hope you're aware that the Farseer Trilogy is only the beginning of Fitz's story. The Tawny Man Trilogy and The Fitz and the Fool Trilogy (along with The Liveship Traders Trilogy and the Rain Wild Chronicles, which while not featuring Fitz, you really need to read to understand the latter two Fitz trilogies respectively) are even better IMO.
Summer Eland After I read it for the first time (probably took me 2 months max as I was out of work at the time), I remembered it as being amazing but having a slow start. When I re-read it, I didn't get that sense at all, I was enthralled from the jump.
@@stephenbarrett8861 Decado and Tenaka Khan are why The King Beyond the Gate is one of my favorite Gemmel Books. Story wise Tenaka Khan just edges out Decado who is arguably the best swordsman ever, being a descendant of Skilgannon the Damned.
Stormy77 Gemmell does the best character nicknames. Parmenion, ‘the Death of Nations’ springs to mind. I prefer Decado’s arc, but King Beyond the Gate is my favourite Gemmell book too!
Stormy77 in a way it feels like characters from his first couple of books became archetypal for many of his other books. Waylander and John Shannow for example.
In no particular orde, but starting with the ones we have in common: Kvothe, Rand al' Thor, Sand Dan Glokta, Geralt of Rivia, Daelon / Dayless the Conqueror (Chronicles of Everfall), Arya Stark (Song of Ice and Fire), Malkin (Savage Dominion), Nona Grey (Book of the Ancestor ), Vanyel Ashkevron (Velgarth / The Last Herald Mage), Aragorn son of Arathorn (Lord of the Rings)

But I also love Yennefer in the Witcher, probably because I relate to her a lot. So cool that you included Geralt!
Another favourite has to be Howl from Howl's moving castle, it was just a delight to read the story with him in it.
Aand my comment turned out to be super long again, my apologies :D I just get too excited typing while watching the video 😂
(Also 💜 at Spensa in the honorable mentions!)
My Current Top 10
1.) Rand al'Thor
2.) Dalinar Kholin
3.) Jorg Ancrath
4.) Shallan Davar
5.) Nynaeve al'Meara
6.) Kvothe
7.)Tyrion Lannister
8.) Sand dan Glokta
9.) Matrim Cauthon
10.) Ender Wiggin
Jorg is def a gem (in a fucked uo way)
Fantasy Talk sorry but Nynaeve is annoying with all the braid tugging
I will give you a like for being the only person here I have seen to also mention Matrim Cauthon
@@ves138 I’ve only read Prince of Thorns so far, but just that book alone, Mark Lawrence was inspired when he created Jorg
@@abigailslade3824 She is very annoying, but I love her anyway. She’s like the big sister I never had 😂
I originally had Drizzt as number 7 but switched him out, but I agree he is a wonderful character! And guenhwyvar deserves a mention too!
Captured in Words For sure! What a great duo. Also, Jarlaxle and Artemis are an awesome pairing too. And just to fan boy a bit more, the Drizzt/Artemis story arc is so satisfying as well. Great videos man!
Drizzt is a mary sue.
I love your video! Keep up the great work always! I've always said that your video editing is super good, but it's only until I (recently) started my own Booktube channel that I realized the extent of that. Also, I agree so much regarding what you said about Kvothe.
Thanks, I appreciate it! And congrats on starting your own channel!
Ooo I just finished Words of Radiance and CANNOT stop thinking about it. I love Shallan and have warmed up to Kaladin quite a bit. And Fitz couldn’t catch a break in The Farseer trilogy haha!!! Awesome video! Thanks for sharing!!!
Words of Radiance is SO good! Shallan definitely had a lot of awesome moments and growth in that one! Thanks for watching!
You should make a list of fictional characters you would disown if they were yours.
Great choices. I'm more of a scifi reader so I don't have a top ten. But I love Vin(Mistborn), Kaladin(TWoK), Locke Lamora, and Nynaeve(Wheel of Time)
Hm, a lot of Brandon Sanderson's characters on your list. I wonder why...
(Lightsong! Lightsong is hilarious.)
Dalinar may be my favorite character of all time (as of right now) I always feel so proud of him because of his struggles
Dalinar is amazing!!
My favourite character of all is Beloved, the Fool. I'm a huge fan of Robin Hobb!
Same here!!!!
Great work! Logen ninefingers is probably my favourite, also Sazed from mistborn is an amazing character.
My top ten (in no particular order and not restricted to 1 per series)
1. Anomander Rake from Malazan
2.Mat from WOT
3. Kaladin from Stormlight
4. Tavi from Codex Alera
5. Quick Ben from Malazan
6. Locke from Gentlemen Bastards
7. Hoid from Sanderson’s cosmere
8. Sam from LOTR
9. Shallan from Stormlight
10.Moiraine from WOT
Yes ! Finally a top spot for my boy Anamander Rake!
Greetings from France, and a thank you!🍃
(And Quick Ben too!!)
You have very good taste, Sir!
I personally would add to your list Kip from lightbringer series,
Kylar Stern from Night Angel trilogy and wayne from mistrborn (wayne and wax trilogy).
Also- great job, keep doing that buddy
You know it’s a great video when no one in the comments is even bringing up the two number 2s lol
Love the video!
Oh wow I didn't even notice that!! Whoops! XD
Captured in Words I really wasn’t going to say anything but I thought it was great that the comments wasn’t filled with it so I thought it was funny.
I'm just so happy you uploaded another video . I love watching all your reviews and recommendations and you are absolutely great. ☆
Thanks, glad you like them!
Captured in Words Maybe you could make a list of honorable mention fantasy characters a little later, lol 😀
But here are my top 10 ASOIAF characters
1. Daenerys
2. Jaime Lannister
3. Bran
4. Arya
5. Jon Snow
6. Cersei
7. Euron
8. Tyrion
9. Barristan
10. Catelyn
a good list .i would add ned stark too
When i think favorite characters i think Glokta, Dalinar, Lightsong, Andross Guile, Jasnah, Hoid(!) ....
I think Vasher is pretty great.
Yay! Your back!
Sure am! :D
Gorgeous video that kept me up to 2am just to finish. (I'm usually not up so late.)
I adore Sam!
Glad you enjoyed the video! :D Sam is amazing
1. Achmed the Snake from Elizabeth Haydon’s The Symphony of Ages series
2. Dalinar from The Stormlight Archive by Sanderson
3. Kvothe from Kingkiller Chronicles by Rothfuss
4. Samwise Gamgee from The Lord of the Rings by Tolkien
5. Moiraine from The Wheel of Time
6. Croaker from The Black Company by Cook
7. Grunthor from SoA by Haydon
8. Anomander Rake from Malazan by Erikson
9. Jondralyn from The Five Warrior Angel series by Brian Lee Durfee
10. Anborn from Haydon’s SoA
I’m always so in love with your editing jeeez teach me
Rand Al'Thor is my favorite character and after book 6, the complexity of Rand persona becomes so good you wish that all the next books are his POV
Agree, he is changing a lot throughout the series. But I love Matrim Cauthon😍
Damn, I can't wait to get further in the series!
The WoT was painful for me the first few times. I tried to read it 2 times (getting to Book 7 and Book 9 respectively) before I finally finished it the 3rd time. I have to say, it was completely worth it.
If Glotka, Logen, Jezal, Dogman or Farro aint on this list (or near the top) then its a flawed list!
EDIT: CapturedinWords is a man of culture i see.
deity 93 not Harding Grim though, he’s too chatty!
So many characters to choose from lol
Mat Cauthon
Vin
Kylar Stern
Walker Boh
Nynaeve al Meara
Bilbo Baggins
Kaladin
Rand al Thor
Taran*Assistant Pig Keeper*
Jean Tannen
No particular order
Awesome choices! It's been awhile since I read the Night angel books but Kylar Stern and Durzo Blint are awesome!
Locke Lamora and Jean Tannen. My god!!! They both are a master class of how to wright "evolution" and "progress" and the way a character becomes so skilled.
I love them
My List would be very similar to yours, just add in Shallan and Nynaeve
1) Ciri (The Witcher)
2) Logen Ninefingers (First Law)
3) Vin (Mistborn)
4) Geralt (The Witcher)
5) Glokta (First Law)
6) Kaladin (Stormlight Archive)
7) Gandalf (LOTR)
8) Fitzchivilry and Nighteyes (Realm of the Elderlings)
9) Orso (Age of Madness)
10) Pug (Magician)
(Yeah The Witcher and First Law are probably my two favourite series 😅)
Awesome list!! Honestly I wish I included Ciri in my video since she's one of my favorites too. I love all these characters, except the two I don't know (Orso and Pug) since I haven't read those books yet but I plan on it!
Captured in Words yeah I haven’t read WoT yet so I don’t “really” know Rand or Moiraine but I’m getting to it soon 😂
Sam is the sweetest 🥰 I also love Vin and Fitz!
All 3 are amazing characters
Damn. I always defend Kvothe in Reddit and I think exactly like you. He's a good liar, not a "Mary Sue". You're the first person I've heard expressing my type of thoughts when speaking of Kvothe.
Never forget that Kote means disaster, we just haven't got to the really big disasters yet
1. Aragorn - Lord of the Rings
2. Kaladin Stormblessed - Stormlight Archive (After Rhythm of War he is almost #1)
3. Matrim Cauthon - Wheel of Time
4. Sevro au Barca - Red Rising
5. Myfanwy Thomas - The Rook
6. Tyrion Lannister - Game of Thrones
7. Shallan Davar - Stormlight Archive
8. Kelsier - Mistborn
9. Severus Snape - Harry Potter
My List (not in a particular order)
1. Logen Ninefinger (First Law)
2. Sevro (Red Rising, have not read the 4th and 5th book yet)
3. Corban, Farrell, Dath (Faithful and the Fallen, I know it's cheating to have all 3 as one but their friendship is soooo good)
4. Perrin Aybara (WoT)
5. Drem
6. Bleda ( both from Of Blood and Bone trilogy)
7. Taniel (Powder Mage trilogy+ Gods of Blood and Powder)
8. Royce and Hadrian (Ririya)
9. Ragnar (Red Rising)
10. Robb Stark and Jon Snow (ASoIaF)
Ok I kinda cheated but you can't make me narrow it down even more I already didn't include characters I love like Mauvin Pickering, King Alric, Darrow, Pax, Stannis Baratheon, Matrim Cauthon, Loial and more
I loved seeing Lightsong in the honourable mentions
great video I finished the hero of ages and elantris recently and I'm reading warbreaker now
I finished Warbreaker a few months ago and thought it was really well done for a stand-alone. I would love a sequel, wouldn’t you???
Awesome, enjoy Warbreaker!
@@megansreadingrevelations so far yeah
@@CapturedInWords Thanks
@Megan's Reading Revelations there will likely be a sequel novel or novella to warbreaker a while down the line, called Nightblood 🙃
Farseer Trilogy Spoilers
Verity’s death, or sacrifice rather, absolutely destroyed me.
Nobody cares but here are mine:
* Luthien
* DEATH
* Dracula
* Yennefer
* Brandin
* Jaimie Lannister
* Antimony Carver
* Nightblood
* Lord Vetinari
* Yagharek
* Niclays Roos
* Denna
* Sarevok
Bro why Denna ??
Arsh Grewal bro (or sis) I simply unabashingly love love broken characters like hers. She is literally several people I met IRL and I don’t see her archetype in books that often. Plus she has a potential for Doors of Stone to play even larger role. I adore Rothfuss for writing her. I do.
I care! Awesome list, I should have added DEATH and Nightblood at least to my honorable mentions since they're both amazing.
Captured in Words thanks. I should have put Tyrion there as well.... ah so many great characters in fantasy!
Glad to see Spensa get some love on the Honorable Mentions. I'd have to include Hilo from the Green Bone Saga and Gabriel from EOTV.
1. Ista dy Chalion (Paladin of Souls)
2. Lupe dy Cazaril (The Curse of Chalion)
3. Turyin Mulaghesh (City of Blades)
4. Kaladin Stormblessed (The Stormlight Archive)
5. Jasnah Kholin (The Stormlight Archive)
6. Circe (Circe)
7. Samarkar (The Eternal Sky Trilogy)
8. Miryem (Spinning Silver)
9. Blackthorn (Blackthorn and Grim series -- Juliet Marillier)
10. Senneth (The Twelve Houses series)
Havent reaad too many fantasy series but so far heres my list:
Jorg ancrath
Jalan kendeth
Kaladin
Vin
Sazed
Adelina amouteru
Kelsier
Snorri van snagason
Glokta
Logen
Awesome list!
Wow, great video. Vin is my all time fav, but I absolutely hate Kvothe.
Amazing video. Gloatka is definitely an amazing character
Thanks!! Glokta is incredible, definitely going to be one of my favorites for a long long time
One little addition to Rand Al'Thor:
He may be interesting up to book 6, but after you will have passed the famous "slog" after book 10, Rand Al'Thor makes a completely turn and is defined as one of the most complex character arcs in all of fantasy. You have seen nothing yet in book 5...
Awesome! well now I'm hyped to keep reading
Thanks again for great stuff! Dalinar is my favorite too!
Wait, did you mencioned Daniel Greene???man pls do a video together, i love both channels so it will be like a dream for me seeing you two together
Pedro Olavo yes I need a collab of these two kings!
Your editing is next level. Love your videos!
Thanks so much!!
Seen this video a few times, love it! You should make a top 10 fav fantasy series of all time, that would be awesome! I’m guessing Stormlight Archive and KKR are your top 2 fav series?
Characters are my main draw towards books. I think it why I love mistborn era 2 and Warbreaker and struggle reading the wheel of times series
My 10:
Locke LaMora (Gentleman Bastards)
Hadrian Blackwater (Riyria)
Suri (Legends of the First Empire)
Celaena Sardothian/Admin Galathynius (Throne of Glass)
Fitzchivalry Farseer (Rhelm of the Elderlings)
Rin and Kitay (Poppy Wars)
Mia Cordova (Nevernight)
Aren (The Ember Blade)
Rasty (The Greatcoats)
C’mon Tyrion Lannister! Even in the comments nobody mentioned him :(
I love Tyrion!
I love Tyrion too, I would have put it very high but not to my top. IDK he is probably underrated because he’s great!
Roland Deschain, last Gunslinger of Gilead. Epic character.
I need to read The Dark Tower at some point
@@CapturedInWords Amazing series honestly. It starts off good but just gets better as it goes along.
Nobody from A Song of Ice and Fire? Haven't you read those books?
In no order and trying to keep it to one character per series
Drizzt
Kvothe
Kelsier
Kaladin
Rand al thor
Geralt of rivia
Wei shi lindon
Waxillium ladrian
Mia Corvere

Mat Cauthon (Wheel of time)
Nynaeve Al'meara (Wheel of time)
Auri (kingkiller chronicle)
Kvothe (kingkiller chronicle)
Artemis Entreri (many forgotten realms books like The Legend of Drizzt or Sellswords)
Danillo Than (songs and swords)
Erevis Cale (Erevis Cale trilogy)
Fitz Chivalry along with Nighteyes (Farseer)
Logan Ninefingers (The First Law)
Elric of Melnibone (Elric of Melnibone saga)
Unfortunatelly I haven't read anything of Brandon Sanderson yet but it is on my to do list since everyone says how great of an author he is.
in no particular order,
Pug/Milamber,
Mara of the Acoma,
Anomander Rake,
Matrim Cauthon,
Silk/Prince Kheldor,
Aura Stark,
Kvothe,
Nobody,
Nakor,
Thom Merrilyn.
All absolutely wonderful and real characters with flaws and sadness but also with the promise of hope and joy.
Honourable mention Aridhol that guy does so much with so little.
Glokta ranks number six. Yey. You have a good taste in characters, Jay!
Lord Ruler and Sazed from Mistborn...
Bast from The Kingkiller Chronicle
Axel11 good choices! Bast is also one of my favorites but I like Denna more as a character
Both are awesome characters!
Missed your videos 😊
Rand al'Thor is an amazing character, if you're only on book 5 or 6 you're in for a real treat. Just bear with him until the end, I promise it'll all be worth it.
Also, I hope you're aware that the Farseer Trilogy is only the beginning of Fitz's story. The Tawny Man Trilogy and The Fitz and the Fool Trilogy (along with The Liveship Traders Trilogy and the Rain Wild Chronicles, which while not featuring Fitz, you really need to read to understand the latter two Fitz trilogies respectively) are even better IMO.
I loved WoT, but I had to read it 3 times to finish it. I have to say, it was completely worth it.
Summer Eland After I read it for the first time (probably took me 2 months max as I was out of work at the time), I remembered it as being amazing but having a slow start. When I re-read it, I didn't get that sense at all, I was enthralled from the jump.
Wow your editing is amazing.
Thank you! :D
How is the book your writing coming along?
Eaaaasyyyy call to hit the subscribe button on this one. Naisssss!
I appreciate it, welcome aboard!
You can never go wrong with Sam. Speaking of.... I thought you said no spoilers. ;)
Matrim cauthon is the absolute GOAT in my opinion
1. Damn you have hairy arms!!!
2. Fitz and Glokta! Extremely happy you mentioned those
3. Wasnt Drizzt a character in the OG baldurs gate?
My personal favorite is David Gemmell's Tenaka Khan. But I also feel like Kaladin Stormblessed and Dalinar from The Stormlight Archive are epic.
Stormy77 I’m a big fan of Decado.
@@stephenbarrett8861 Mine too! Decado has a great arc as well and those 2 were so compelling it's hard not to love that book.
Keep doing what you're doing. Great content, reminds me a lot of Green level stuff.
Thanks, I appreciate that!
