    put the pump on a brick in the water so if the outlet hose busts off or cracks you dont drain the whole pond. trust me I know from experience

  • @Hirochicken

    You should definitely plant a bunch of ferns and hostas around the pond, as well as some of those canna lilies you already have. The canna will make a great background wall if you plant a whole row of them.

    It would be cool to install pavers around the pond. You could even have them hang over the lip of the pond for a seamless transition from upland to pond. Doing this with rock would be cool too, might be a bit much because you’re are renting though. Loving the setup so far my man!!

    Maybe one spot with the sticks and one with a large log, possibly covering the waterfall. Maybe a tall purple grass and cana on each side of filter, covering the edge of pond. A few large boulders and some creeping jennie in other places covering the edge. Some baby tears and some form of taro.

    You're probably gonna need to put those plants in pond boxes so water circulates through the soil and roots, otherwise the roots can literally start to rot.

  • @KerriGilpin
    @KerriGilpin 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Love it! Be cautious with the Papyrus plants, they grow beyond their containers and reproduce quickly. The “umbrella” or top bends into the water and makes a new plant. The roots of mine grew into my filter sponge and it was a pain to remove! Just keep an eye on it!

    Parrot feather was always one of my favorite floating plants when I had my pond back when I lived in Ohio. The tips stick up out of the water and look like feathers. You make me miss my pond..I had to give it up (and my beautiful koi I had to rehome) when I moved to Florida a few years ago. I am thinking of doing a small patio pond here just because I do miss having one...it would be under cover though because none of my patios are in direct sun....any suggestions of plants I could use that would not get a lot of sun?
