Rubio's Coastal Grill, a beloved Southern California restaurant known for its fish tacos, is slated to close 48 locations due to the "rising cost of doing business." Laurie Perez reports.
In my area (Lakewood) all these places have closed since 2020: At least 4 businesses this year Big lots - 2023 Rubios - This Year Well Fargo - This Year/May Rite Aid - This Year Hometown Buffet Souplantation Bed, Bath and Beyond - 2023 99 Cent Store - This Year Fuddruckers Several Stores in the Mall And some small shops/restaurants I don't remember the name
I like how CA raised TAXES and when places close unable to absorb those extra cost added on over the years in CA TAXES, They blame the restaurant for closing and not the fact CA just increased the cost of labor by 25%. CA is in trouble as the Theater Kids are now in charge and have no idea how stuff works other than more Drama

Last time I went to Rubios I waited about 40 minutes for 2 fish tacos. The place was dead and the way the employees were running around you would have thought I was the first order they’ve ever had!

Greedy corporate landlords have some blame. I see them kicking hundreds of tenants out because they think they can get more rents from someone else . After six months later , they end up lowering the rent to a new tenant . I see the same cycle over and over again. Most of the landlords are Persian Jewish headquarters in west LA
