Another quick tip: having friends motivate you can really help boost your confidence. My friend told me his camera was gonna die soon when I was close to kickflipping a 3 stair and it made me commit to the trick more and I ended up landing it. His battery was almost fully charged, he just wanted to give me a push 😂
I have learned that meditating before doing stuff like this helps a lot. I think of it like stretching/warming up the mind before using it just like we stretch our muscles before we skate. Think about it 90% of skating is mental, why wouldn't we warm up the mind first?
@@icarus4ever48 I do the same with the music. I recommend downloading the app headspace. Its what I use and you just listen to whatever recording is on there. After a few sessions I noticed my mind entered the same state as it did when I was meditating and just really helped me to stop over thinking tricks.
What I do is, while in the air, I just look at my feet and concentrate on the ollie movement. I don't look at the stairs nor at where I am landing, only what my feet are doing on the board, and especially how my front foot slides. That has helped me a tone with commitement. I also have a problem with doing straight ollies so I like to approach the stairs with a slight angle so that when I land, it will be a straight and clean land. Hope that these tips can help someone out there as well ;)
@@cell2rare you can also try to swing your shoulders slightly the other way around. So, for example, if you naturally turn frontside, swing your shoulders in the backside direction just slightly. That's how I kept my flatground ollies straight.
I was struggling, I would always bail out halfway through. So, this is what i started doing. I’d count down from 3 in my head, go up to the stairs yell “DONT BE A PUSSY” and I would just go for it. Helped me alot
This video is literally perfect timing! Just 2 days ago I was trying to relearn 3 stairs but for some reason I just couldnt commit! Because of the constant impact while trying the 3 stair my right knee hurts but once I'm fine Im going to go try again!

in my first year of skating, I definitely started jumping things I wasn't ready for, messed up my ankle 2 times because of it, since then I've been avoiding ledges haha, my goal this year is to get back into them and see how I go!
Just keep trying, if your close than you're probably doing it right, you might need to flick your foot harder if its flipping too slow and vice versa, and make sure to try to catch it with your feet in the air instead of it hitting the ground before your feet get on it(if you're doing that)

Earlier today I Ollied down a 3 stair and landed a few but when I watched the footage I kind of mobbed it a little like rocket boarded, something I need to work on but I was proud of myself even though it wasn’t Steezy haha
I really want to start off doing a two stair but for some reason it is really hard to find like a two stair or even a three stair where I live but also I get nervous in a public area
Hey bro i need help with my 360 flips. I watched ur videos about it but I cant seem to get the 360 shuv part. Its like my back foot won't go under the board to make it flip. I would love some help❤
Where I live there is no smaller stair sets so after a few years of skateboarding I did my first stair set (a five stair lol) I wish I had something smaller to learn as I would of learnt so much faster and built good confidence
If you can jump a curb, you can jump a 10 stair, here's why: Everything is the same and you really only need a good ollie, The only factors that ever change is drop and speed. Learn how to account for both of these, and stairs will come naturally. A 3 stair should feel like a curb when you warm up to it. It isn't this technical or this complicated. Land like you land flatground, the impact and speed if you calculated them right will simply go through your body. Remember to keep them knees bent on the landing.
Skranhund imma problem is I can do stair sets it’s just sometimes I can do them and than sometimes where I just kick the board out I have Ollies down but idk why I get scared to do them
My local park is like that. You just have to go faster. A way to practice it is finding a drop about the same height and work on jumping down it faster and faster each time. That way you can work up the confidence
From what I’ve noticed when I try to do stairs Is a don’t commit, anyone got tips for that? Like I’ll try to ollie but I’ll just jump down the stairs or something like that
Do you have a tip how not to kick your board away when jumping higher stuff? It usually happens to me on anything above 4-5 Stairs. I dont know how to "hang" on the board so to speak.
It’s honestly all mental. You really just have to clear your mind and stand still. Maybe dont try to lower your legs that much after popping i the air. It’s a lot easier said than done. It’s really commitment.
If you can get down a curb you can get down a 2, practice on the smallest set or ledge you can find. Go up one or two steps as you get more comfortable. I use to freak out about it until I just kept jumping down the stairs until I was ready to land on the board. Pre TH-cam days. Now that I’m older and am having the same issue I’m reminded that your fear is your worst enemy with skateboarding.
I can perfectly Ollie and clear set but when I’m about to land my foot don’t land on feet or just one foot or my board flip on the ground when I land on it
I can ollie stairs pretty well but there are sometimes when I just cant commit for some reason. Me and 2 of my friends went to this 3 stair the other day that we've all ollied multiple times before but for some reason I just couldn't get it that time. I literally like totalled my knee.
I landed my first 2 stair in the church we skate through, it was tight and there's an extra curve down after that so I was scared that my Rear Trucks will get stuck but nah it was badass!
It was a battle for me to Ollie a 2 set of 3 (6 stair) I landed it once and then the try after I landed it, I got a hot pocket and then rolled my ankle
But it’s cause like I have a good Ollie and I can do them them easily like of a 3 stair but when I do like a 5 stair I sorta rocket them I just can’t level them???
