I absolutely want this. I already have giant size #1 in an epic collection, omnibus and treasury edition. Kind of like the idea of collecting it in every size possible.
One of the interesting "behind the scene stories" is that Colossus was originally envisioned as the breakout star of the new team. He is front and center on the cover and has the key primary colours in his uniform (red, blue and yellow). It didn't end up turning out that way.
@@NearMintCondition I was a hardcore fan of the REAL x-men. My only complaint is the named it the x-men, I wish they would've called it Dave Cockrums New Legion of Superheroes because that's what it was. Including Wolverine the Timber Wolf swipe.
Wow the solicits did not do this book justice, great job showing this off (but cannot believe you said binding doesn't matter, it matters and its the right binding!) highlights what a fantastic service you provide to Marvel and fans, now I will just have to try and secure a copy on release! Will also keep my hopes up for a Thomas BWS Conan Gallery edition whilst Marvel have the licence!
This is like captain America 50th anniversary 1shot they had a couple months ago, a different artist redrew captain America #1 and his first avengers appearance. Really cool concept
I like the concept of different artists recreating old artwork from the Giant-Size X-Men book, and I'm glad that Marvel did that again with the Captain America 80th Anniversary tribute book that came out in March. Hope to see more of this in more tribute comics. I will also get this book soon
@@NearMintCondition That is a really good Idea. Maybe there can be a best of Spider-Man Month for Spidey's 60th Anniversary like for the first annual, #300, #252, Spidey's origin story, and #1 that can be remastered with new art.
@@NearMintCondition You bet. A few years ago Marvel re-released Marvel comics presents#1 as a $1 true believer comic. I was at the comic store, saw the classic Walt Simonson Wolverine cover but something was off about the cover. After closer examination, they had removed the cigar out of Wolverines mouth for $1 true believers cover. I went crazy. I still have my original and brought it in to show the younger folks at the comic store the difference between the two covers, how they had "memory holed" Wolvies stogie, an important part of his character and used it as a teachable moment to preach about the dangers of censorship and fake history, and suggested they read Orwell's classic book 1984 to wake up a little.
It would be amazing if they used that Adi Granov cover image as a direct market variant for the upcoming reprinting of the uncanny x-men omnibus (rather than give us the same covers over & over again)
Hi Omar! I'm the guy who has been asking you the last few months during the Q and A if there would ever be a Gallery Edition of Weapon X and Longshot! Great to get Weapon X on the schedule- can't wait! ( We are about the same age so we have very similar tastes of comics from our childhood) Thought I'd post my TOP 10 Gallery Editions needed ( Hey it may help your video of your Top 10) 1) LONGSHOT ( Arthur Adams artwork oversized OMG!) 2) BORN AGAIN ( what can be said!) 3) ASGARDIAN WARS ( Loved this as a child New Mutants Special and X-Men Annual 9- Arthur Adams at his finest!) 4) XMEN LIFEDEATH ( BWS and Claremont goodness!!) 5) MARVELS ( ALEX ROSS but not in an XXL format!) 6) XMEN DAYS OF THE FUTURE PAST ( This is needed as a Gallery Edition!) 7) ASTONISHING XMEN 1-6 ( Great modern masterpiece) 8) NEW MUTANTS DEMON BEAR SAGA ( WOW! This would look glorious!!) 9) FANTASTIC FOUR THE COMING OF GALACTUS 48, 49, 50( JACK KIRBY the master at work) 10) STAR WARS DARK EMPIRE series 1 and series 2 ( THis could be 2 Gallery Editions or a Thicc one!) Hey Omar. Nice overview of a really beautiful looking book. Interesting premise. It's a wonderful tribute to Wein & Cockrum. The artwork looks amazing in such a large format. Thanks for sharing this. Cheers mate 😎👍
I was a bit iffy about it when it original special came out-still on the fence about it. I'll watch Oman's review before deciding. (Extras, etc )Thanks, omar.
Would be nice to have a full collection of these. Do you know if the red carpet gallery edition will have the same dimensions as this as I plan on picking that up also 👌🏻🔥
About censorship, did you feel that way when they censored the n-word in the current edition of God Loves, Man Kills or would you have preferred that they left it uncensored?
I really like the way that Disney approached this subject. I definitely don't want to keep these incredibly aged stereotypes around, but they are an important part of the comics at the time they were written. Disney was able to simultaneously keep them in while emphasizing that these were not correct then, nor now, and here's some more reading material etc. Comics are even more accessible to this type of thing since collected editions usually have an introductory page by a writer or editor, and it could be seamlessly addressed there before the book begins.
I love comicons so much and I hope the return of all in Bilbao there were heroes comicon and in La Coruña Spàin there will be other in august 9 to 16 thanks very Omar for sharing this
Getting other artists to redraw/reinterpret Cockrum’s work doesn’t seem like much of a tribute to me. I’d rather they’d collected the original artwork (artist edition style) and given us the complete story as printed along with an original artwork version.
Not interested in this particular Gallery Edition, but curious about the size. From the looks of it, it seems bigger then an Absolute from DC, therefore not of interest if it doesn't fit in my bookshelf, already have The Sixth Gun Deluxe that doesn't fit and that's bad enough.

That cover needs to be on a tee-shirt or a poster. I`m personally waiting for the Warlock Gallery Edition.
Sideshow Collectibles has it on their site as a high end art print!

Ohhh I hope they collect that in this format too.
It's an intriguing premise to have different artists' take on a classic, but not enough for a purchase from me.
Good point.
Would be nice if they included this content in the new reprinting of the uncanny x-men omnibus reprint* along with that adi granov cover!

Thank you for this overview, Omar! Really looking forward to grabbing this book, and of course, grabbing the Omnis for "X-Men" 😊
You are welcome my brother.
Should we expect an overview and first look at the Death of CA omni reprint?
Absolutely. Soon.
Awesome way to pay homage to the original! Great vid Omar!
Thank you, sir.
Wow! I had my doubts, as I alredy bought this as a standard single-issue. But, I can only imagine how wonderful this looks in this size and format...
History is History. Good, bad or indifferent. We learn from bad history by changing things for the better, not by hiding it from the fragile.
Agreed. I also don’t like when art is censored like the case of 3x3 Eyes or even DBZ.

Nice book. I have the gallery edition of Daredevil/Elektra:Love&War,it is BIG and freakin' heavy! Think I need to get this one too... 🤔
Thanks for the answer Omar. You have another salón del cómic in Getxo near Bilbao on octubre a beautiful city with Beach and good food

Interesting idea honestly. Love the gallery edition format in general so this is a neat book. Thanks for the vid! Algorithm gang:)
7:27 This is the first time I have ever heard someone pronounce Banshee to rhyme with Shang-Chi
Well, now we can't even say that. Chong Shi is what I've heard. :)
So does this include the whole story plus some extra artwork I'm trying to understand what a gallery edition is? Thanks
Omar do you have any info on the hellfire gala red carpet edition? Is it oversized or gallery sized?
I don’t. It would be cool to see it this size, but people would probably be upset if make it that size.
Do you think Marvel will eventually start printing more Gallery Editions than Select?
More are coming.
Very novel idea. I heard you mentioned you’ve reviewed other gallery editions. Do you have a personal gallery edition you’ve read or reviewed?
Yes. I did Elektra and God Loves, Man Kills Gallery.
@@NearMintCondition oh awesome! Thanks

100% however... I read the afterwords by Claremont and he agreed with the change. Still not censored in the omnibus, but the gallery edition.
