Played through both versions and the ps2 version was just way more fun. The bad framerate didnt help but the way the whole game was just made it more fun.
I agree. I feel way more nostalgic towards that one. The ps3 and pc versions just felt off and incomplete. The music was so good

There was a period of time somewhere between 2005 and 2008 when the game devs were overdoing with bloom effect: NFS Most Wanted 2005, NFS Undercover (only HD versions), Just Cause, Burnout Revenge, Mario Kart Wii, etc. Suprisingly this PS2 port of Undercover looks very good on the emulators, and it's totally free of this overdone bloom effect.
Honestly, I love that effect, it gives more sensation of speed although there are other ways to achieve that sensation without exaggerating the bloom.
Weird to see people calling the PS2/Wii version better because its a Frankstein made with reused assets from Most Wanted 2005 and Carbon.
next gen looked so dread and empty somehow (maybe because the lack of street details like lamposts or those random bus stops) with overused bloom effects, last gen is just mw reskin but looks nice in the eyes
It's still better than the shitass 7th-gen/PC console version.
@@inaxdee Actually no, the original version doesn't are a poorly made version like the PS2/Wii which have recycled assets and bad graphics compared to previous NFS titles for PS2.

Despite its flaws PS2 version still feels like good old Underground, Most Wanted and Carbon while "next-gen" version was a complete unfinished mess. At least on PC you have mods to improve Undercover to tolerable levels. I remember some gaming journalists in magazine preview were shocked when they saw pre-release version of Undercover and thought it was some unfinished beta version or EA said it was unfinished beta version, but you know... 🤦

Ps2 is better change my mind At least the map was better and had cars from the original nfs And the race entries are much better than the 360 and the cars too
It is better because PS2 version is basically a reskinned Most Wanted and Carbon put together, PC version was too rushed
Undercover for PS2 it's horrible, that's why Most Wanted 2005 is better than this crap

late reply, but. the Porsche 911 gt2 actually replaced the preset version of it sadly, doesnt exist in the debug menus
Interestingly, in debug menu there are slightly changed leftovers from Carbon like Cross's Corvette and Toyota Supra from NFSC prologue

It's more about the fact that the PS2 version is easier to play and the fun factor is simply higher. As far as pure visuals are concerned, the PC version is slightly better.
Because they're just fanboys who never had a good childhood. In other words, they are defending a game that, overall, was a failure. Also, Most Wanted 2005 is better than Undercover for PS2
First I got the game on PS2 and I was disappointed. I was shocked to see that it was different from PC and newer consoles. I liked the PC version more, it looked more modern. The PS2 was weird, a mix of Most Wanted and Carbon, with the story of Undercover. 😵
Doesn't look like original ps2 version . More like pcsx2 with hi res .
NFS Undercover = PS2 (and XBOX) 2007 and Undercover 2 = PS3 and XBOX 360 2008.
