One my favorite camping treats. Fried Apples....save bacon grease have apple peeled, cored and sliced...add apples to hot grease in pan, Once apples are a bit soft add brown sugar and cinnamon add to pancakes. Yum!!!!
There are still some small secret hidden colonies of vikings living up on the islands up in those large scottish lochs!! Its most disconcerting to be enjoying the paddle up a nice long scottish loch until you spot longboat sails unfurling behinds you and dragonhead prows closing in on your position from all sides? Its no good trying to explain your reasons for being on their loch when you got a viking sword up yer left nostril? And rest of the scottish vikings are ransacking through both of yer canoes & taking away all of your eqpt? Being filmed stranded in a pair of y fronts on a scottish island may make good survival tv but it isnt a joke? For those who have been left on the island as longboats sail off with all of yer equipment & you 2 have got nosebleeds from having a viking sword tip rammed up yer noses? Cuz you both failed due to giggling to understands the ancient norwegian dialects The 1st time!? Arounds
Learned a lot watching this fine adventure of yours. I'm sure you were smiling during all that crazy weather, I know I would be.😉 What a great trip Simon, thank you so much for taking the time to film it and share it with us. Your an inspiration.
Awesome Part 4 Simon. Liker 204 here. haha...Really great to be able to share one's adventures with another. Makes it so much better, so as long as your pals that is.
I’ve been glued to all four episodes of your Swedish adventure Simon! Thoroughly enjoyable and well made. What a great part of the world to adventure in too. Many thanks for sharing. ATB - Ben 👍
Hi ! Mike here again. You picked the worst of all the lakes to paddel in and a little wrong season. In the fall you should be there with all the colours of the trees and the water is warm and you know you can paddle for weeks in the system and see the real beauty of the area. Hope to see you again in the area But after taking the advise and give a true picture of the beauty that it Hilda. Respectfully Mike 🇸🇪
Amazing scenery, amazing weather, amazing photography. So sorry Andy got sick. What a grand adventure!!! Thanks so very much for your experience! Great videos. Truly enjoyable series. Very well done!!!
Simon, I carry in my first aid pack Tampons kotex and super glue uses for deep wounds and burns. For 38 years I worked as maintenance then a so a stocker and sales associate in a store. When I was able to I be headed for the peace and Serinity of the woods and water. Stay safe in the woods
James Carryl - I used to be a first aider in a meat works. If you get a knife cut in awkward spots like the skin on the edge of a nail bed then super glue is priceless for when you have to get on with life, rather than sit around feeling sorry about your boo-boo. 3M steri-strips ( paper stitches) are really good for knife slices & cuts once you stem the bleed (compression & elevation mainly) & clean the site up. Where superglue beats Steri-strips is that you have to keep steri-strips & the skin below them dry, otherwise they'll peel off- superglue stays good until you immerse the area in water for a long time.
And ... PS ... you need to put a tourniquet in that aid kit. With using an axe and saw, you could have a serious cut by accident. Get yourself a SWAT-T (www.amazon.co.uk/SWAT-T-Tourniquet-Orange/dp/B00MYG9YA0). Also, get yourself some Leukotape for blisters etc. (www.amazon.co.uk/BSN-Medical-BEI076168-Leukotape-Sports/dp/B000E59HXC/ )
Thanks Kimberly! The hail was like a loyal dog - always close on our heels! Good advise with the tourniquet - although a cut through the femoral artery out there and it’s game over - tourniquet or not. 😬 Good to have one though!!! 👍 Loved the chilli Mac by the way - and the breakfast hash - really good chunky meals - actually looked like what they are, our dehydrated meals all look the same - mush!! 😂😂😂
Stora Le is a fantastic wild (and large) lake in the west of Sweden. My mother spent many summers with her parents there as a child. Then my parents took me an my brother and sisters there when we grew up. Good fishing. It's been a while since I was there but these videos has inspired me to reconnect to these waters.
Great videos. I really enjoyed them. Great chemistry with you and Andy. You can really see yours and Andy's passion for bush crafting in these videos. I look forward to the next one
"Swedish Andy" 🤣🤣🤣 Great adventure, guys. Thanks for taking us along for a final installment. I look forward to seeing more from both of you back in dreary, old England soon.
Love seeing a couple blokes who know how to actually paddle a canoe!!! I'm no "snob", but I've paddled around enough sawgrass, alligators, and cat tails to know how to orchestrate a "J" stroke. Looked like an epic and enjoyable adventure....sorry that Andy fell ill, but glad he got back on his "fins" again!!
Leaky boat, illness and impeding headwinds, what no bear in your mess kit? Nice trip Simon. Hope you had fun. I'm always impressed with the thought you put into your gear. I liked the dunkbag.
There is nothing wrong with a lie-in! Too many people base their outdoor pursuits on their watch, and the calendar; you're out there to enjoy it! Good on you! I will be sending you the book this week Simon!
Glad Andy came good. Just saying to each other, what an adventure. Back in the day the cinematography needed would involve a heap of cameras, film and people. Now experts like yourselves can give us, the spectators, a really involved view into your adventure. It makes me remember bush walks of the past. ehem .. distant past .. and think about just how good it is to get out in the big, wild outdoors. Now, where is my tent ?
Not sure how someone can give a thumb down, maybe jealous they weren't there? Another great video, thanks for all your effort producing it. I don't know how you make the time.
Thanks to you, us yanks at my house now say bits and bobs 😂😂😂. I don’t know why you don’t have a million followers. Great content Simon, down to earth and very believable. Don’t change brother.
Thanks for the Sweden-videoes, brings back a lot of memories. I've spend several weeks paddling in that area, but mostly later in the year and no snow so far. Stora Le is a nice lake, but it's one of the larger (if not the largest) in the area and you get more wind and waves compared to many of the smaller lakes. Renting canoes in Ed you don't have much choice without access to a car, but I've tried to keep to the smaller ones as much as possible. Many are connected and you can paddle for a week or more with only a few and fairly short portages.
Brilliant, really enjoyed the whole series, thank you so much. Only one thing, and apologies in advance but when you explained about your compartmented first aid kit I was rolling on the floor laughing. You said " Gloves and inflammation in the bottom". I can't think of anything worse to be suffering with when out bush crafting. I do hope you never have to use that section Simon. Cheers Rich
Savage headwind! The shot of you setting off with a following wind had you travelling off at about 10mph......got me thinking.....some bugger has to paddle back to collect that camera😜🙄❗️
Awesome..just awesome..thanks Simon and Andy for sharing your great adventure...Ginge and me have got this on our bucket list...it's a must..so glad that you both had an amazing time..👍👍🛶😀
You’ll love it Phil! So will Ginge - stunning place and if timed right, very few other people about! Thanks for the tips on lake paddling too mate! 👍🛶😁
Great series of videos Simon. I had the pleasure to spend some time in Sweden a few years ago and was able to drink water straight from the lake without filtering. A wonderful country. Sandy
Good Lord man. Now the shops are out of O'boy again..! They hardly managed to recuperate from last times shopping spree!! 🤣 If you wanna see beavers you gave to travel a bit further north Im afraid. Nice series of videos Simon.👍
Well you were right the day myself and the wife bumped into you in the garden centre, it was definitely an epic adventure. It must have been nice to get home to some normal weather. Until the next time take care and keep inspiring Tony.
Excellent stuff bor. Really enjoyable. Thank you for the detailed and informative filming. Andy's illness just shows how quickly fun can turn into a serious situation.

Loved the understated, spot-on comment about the hail "The hail's stopped. Although, they'll probably be more." LOL

Oh, bye the bye. There are people who ARE interested in the production side of the videos, cameras, setup, editing, and all that bumph. :)
Good thing you didn't need to dress any gunshot wounds. Fun trip! Cool with the different weather. Good timing to avoid the mosquitoes.
