7 Day Wilderness Canoe Trip - Part 2. Rogen Naturreservat Sweden. Hammock Wild Camp. Fishing.

  • In this video, Andy (Kent Survival) and continue our canoe trip in the wilderness of Sweden and Norway.
We set off from our wild camp spot in the Rogen Naturreservat in Sweden after a hearty breakfast of bacon and eggs and pick our way through the lakes and portages of this stunning corner of Scandinavia.
After a full day of paddling and one particularly brutal portage, we arrive at a last obstacle, a shallow stream that we can not paddle - time to get out and man-handle the canoes down. Finally we arrive at our camp spot for the night with enough time to have an explore, pick blueberries and even attempt a little fishing.
A filling dinner cooked on our twig stoves and a beer or two and its time for rest - tomorrow is a big day - we cross the mighty lake Rogen.
I hope you enjoy the video,
    Thanks for watching.

Simon, I'm sure you've had others commenting with fishing advice. But a couple of tips. When lure fishing you are targeting predatory fish. Predatory fish in still waters will conserve energy by hiding in cover and ambushing fish. Fishing very close to any sort of cover i.e. along the edge of reed beds will give you the best chance of a fish taking your lure. Also try imparting some movement to the lure rather than just reeling it back. Try it out in the margins in front of you. Jiggling the rod tip so your lure looks like an injured fish, darting forward then dropping back. It's a really fun way of fishing!

As always, another GREAT episode!! So glad you mentioned the extra time & effort it takes to capture even the simplest scenes for your channel. While we're sitting around on our A$$es enjoying all the beauty you bring us, very few realize how hard you work at bringing winning content. Ditto, thanks. And you also essentially mounted 2 entire expeditions because you didn't share a canoe, tent, kitchen, etc. 3 portages adds a long time.
In nostalgia for my own canoe trips from decades long past, I think I'm going to make my green tea on a stick stove this week. At least once. Will see where it goes from there :-)
      Thanks.

A trick with fishing sometimes when you're paddling your Canoe throw your line out behind you and as you drag it behind you you might get a fish every now and then you'll have fish for a dinner
