  • During the February Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show 2023, I stopped by Avtex's stand to learn about their latest product, the AMR995X - a new 5G mobile WiFi router set to launch later this year.
Mobile WiFi is a huge topic at the moment, with advances in technology continuously being made. This new router from Avtex is certainly something to be excited about and we'll be covering it in future when it launches.

Struggling to see this is any better than say a Huawei lte router with an external antenna which can be put together for a fraction of the price of a Avtex system

Avtex offer a simple solution in a box off the shelf. The same comparison can be made with any ‘kit’ but not everyone has the know how to make up their own kit I guess?

I've just done 7 months travelling around Scotland in my MH, all of which i've used my hotspot from my iphone 14 maxpro on 02 for my TV and Laptop with absolutely no problems apart from the obvious lack of signal in the remotest of spots, i also have the latest huawei MH mobile router system in my Autotrail with a smarty card in it, sometimes that worked better but for the majority of the time the hotspot from my phone worked the best.
My point is and forgive me for being a bit dim as i'm not a total techy when it comes to mobile wifi use is it worth paying for the mobile routers when from my experience the phone did the job for streaming films and uploading my TH-cam videos etc? you can have the best router in the world but if your provider is trash then 🤔 ....... This comes from someone who had a mobile router system in my MH just because i could and thought it would be better than a phone hotspot 😂...... Awesome channel BTW really enjoy the shows, oh and the gas stop valve turned up today i'll fit it tomorrow great service and delivery!!!! Cheers JP

One benefit of some mobile routers is dual sim slots, so you can have two providers or even a subscription to a service that lets you access multiple providers. I've found that the designated aerial is much better than a phone. Also, if I need to walk away from the motorhome with my phone, others don't lose access to my hotspot! It all depends on your usage, where you're going and how many people you're with
