Gorgeous scenery from 2k meters high! Thank you for sharing this exhilarating journey and I look forward to watching Part II next. Cheers and safe flying from Seattle!
Fantastic video, I enjoyed the mixture of music and voice over so the GoPro issue worked well. That was one exciting landing, unfortunate that you cut the leg but always plenty of more flying days. One day I will hopefully try a similar adventure when I gain more experience. Keep the videos coming buddy 👍
Thankyou, glad you liked the mix! It was frustrating to injure myself - I’m wearing my my knee supports lower on my shins from now on to protect my legs 😂
Yeah, it’s nice! I’d heard of him before but I heard it again in “I would land in your backyard” volbiv video… (highly recommended if you haven’t watched it)
Great vid and the format worked for me. What a landscape though😮 Glad your leg healed well. I could feel what would have been racing through your mind for that landing 👍
Cheers George... yeah, that landing was a series of what-ifs - what if that danger area hadn't been on Flyskyhy, what if I'd kept heading more east rather than NE, etc... but yes, as Gavin McClurg says, we all need to make inexpensive mistakes occasionally to make us realise we're not invincible...
amazing! i have seen all your videos. the best paragliding youtuber by far! XD it is a dream to fly with you one day and trying to catch up really hard just for evening beer and good times. i´ve had the idea of flying in the alps with a tent for a long time and that´s mainly because of you. thx for uploading all those videos and hope to see you one time in real. I wish you all the best!
Thanks for your kind words, glad you enjoyed it (and my other vids!). Follow Gumball Transalps Rally on Facebook to find out when next year’s trip will be… (date not decided yet) - it would be good to have that beer!
@@TimPentreath We did a small 7day-bivouak-trip in Slovenia and Italy, which was very nice and a good alternative. Coming year we only have 1 week and will head to wherever the weather seems nice in the alps. So lets see!
Loving it! I'd say the pilot demands are slightly higher due to the extra playfulness and performance of the wing - the OXA4 was somewhat staid in comparison (but still nice to fly!)
Thanks! Airspace has always been in Flyskyhy and René does a pretty good job keeping it up to date, however this airspace isn’t shown in airspace.xcontest.org and there are plenty of flights that I can see have flown through it, so I don’t believe it should be in Flyskyhy
Thanks Adam! Part 2 actually starts in Saint-André - I spotted a nice weather window for a few days so went for it, so no, it’s not really a continuation of the first trip, although I did fly very close to where I ended up….
Hey Tim, very nicely edited, despite the AV kit playing up. 24:40+ is about as hairy as a Poitou's arse - I knew you got dragged, but didn't realise it was after a good kicking! On reflection, and despite the landing, your line into the higher terrain S. of Les Contamines looks like it could have been a good sheltering option from the higher winds to the NW, where we ended up - would you take it again?
Haha cheers Frazer… I think the wind was whistling up the caller to the NW, so rather than being sheltered from it, it was funnelling through there. Perhaps further on it would have been ok, or if cloudbase has been higher I would have been ok… I would like to do the route again on a better day…
Hi Tim, great video as always… I’ve always preferred the GoPro rather than 360 films so I’m really enjoying this. How are you mounting your camera please? I’m intrigued by the smooth movement which follows your head (edited panning?) but without constant movement.
Hi Mike, thanks for your comments… it’s the GP Mini 11 and it’s just mounted on my helmet with a standard mount and the stabilisation does the rest… I’ll let you know what settings I use once I’ve dug them out…
Gorgeous scenery from 2k meters high! Thank you for sharing this exhilarating journey and I look forward to watching Part II next. Cheers and safe flying from Seattle!
Thanks Jared, appreciate the kind words! I think you'll enjoy part 2 even more!
Great undertaking with friends and beautiful composition! 🤩👍 Sorry for the bit early ending though...
Thanks Lex, glad you enjoyed it… as Gavin McClurg says, the inexpensive lessons are the good lessons, so 🤞🏻nothing similar this summer!

The Omega ULS what a beauty!
Great video and THX for sharing these impressions with us!
Thanks Stevie, it sure is a beauty! I think you’ll enjoy Part 2 even more 👍🏻
Those school “hills” 😮
Welcome to paragliding 👍
I know, bonkers 😂
Found some new to me music thanks Tim, enjoying Tom Rosenthal now!

Nice one Tim, brings back some nice memories and has given me some motivation to start looking at my footage.
Cheers Ollie, glad you enjoyed it… looking forward to your film in due course!
Hi Tim, always incredible your strength and the way you travel through the mountains ,
You are a real master,
Respect,
Cheers !
Thanks Nicolas, you say the nicest things!! It would be great to fly with you again next year…
Thank you Tim! Wathcing your videos is almost as pleasant as flying with you!
Thanks Kuba, it was great to meet you… see you next year hopefully!
Can’t wait!
Great video sir, glad all’s healed well what amazing scenery
Thank you very much! And yes the scenery on day 2 was especially beautiful…
Awesome video. Glad the injury was manageable. This sense of adventure is the reason I paraglide. Cheers!
Thanks David!
Amazing video!!! You've forgotten to say that these were the very first flights with your new Omega! Well done.
Damn you’re right Maurizio, I should have mentioned that! Hope you’re doing well…
Thanks Tim for organizing such an amazing event. I'll be back for sure
Cheers David, nice meeting you and hope to fly with you and some of your SA mates next year!
I've been waiting another year and here it is:) Legendary at this point🔥
Thanks Jonas, glad you enjoyed it! Part 2 should be even better!
That was totally epic! Really riveting despite tek difficulties, you nailed it! Looking so forward to la deuxième partie 🤟✌👍
Thanks Sandra, I’m glad you enjoyed it!
great vid Tim the new wing seems more frisky than the old one
Thanks Tony, yes I think it has higher pilot demands, but I did feel comfortable on it. Bear in mind these were my first and second flights on it!

Cheers Paul, glad you enjoyed it!
Very nice! Unfortunate the landing though. Congrats on all of your flights and of course your daughter!
Thanks Franz, hopefully you can join us next year…

Exciting now you are a father in law🤣
Haha, father-in-law x2 come March when our son gets married!
Aterrizaje complicado 😅por el viento fuerte 💪
¡Sí, no era ideal!
How are you liking the ULS compared to the oxa4?

Hello Tim. Entertaining video as usual. You said something about danger zone showing up on flyskyhi. What did you mean? Is that a new feature?
Thanks! Airspace has always been in Flyskyhy and René does a pretty good job keeping it up to date, however this airspace isn’t shown in airspace.xcontest.org and there are plenty of flights that I can see have flown through it, so I don’t believe it should be in Flyskyhy
Thankyou Tim really enjoyed this, as always with the gumball series. If there is a part 2 does that mean you flew back to carry on?

4K, 60fps, lens=Wide, Hypersmooth=on, everything else default
Thanks for getting back to me Tim... I'll give it a go with my GP7 🙏
@@MikeHobbs71 I think the stabilisation got a lot better with the 8, so the 7 might not be quite so good…
@@TimPentreath Are you using external battery on the the 11 mini?Any overheating issues with it? Thanks.
What is in your right hand? Is it your communication device? Would you mind sharing the reference, it looks very sturdy
Hi, it's a Pryme Mini PTT for use with the Zello app - here's an example - www.twowayradiocenter.com/pryme-bt-ptt-z-mini/
not that I use it very much..!
@@TimPentreath thanks Tim
What an ugly place to look down on ..rather walk through a sub tropical forest in New Zealand 😮
Wild yes, ugly no…!
