The torque dip and the way the throttle was mapped on the 1st generation was the deal killer so I went with a Miata. This 2nd generation seems much improved and other reviewers have said numbers wise it’s better than the Miata but the roadster just has better feel. Let’s be grateful that we can still find rear wheel drive manual sports cars that are well balanced and affordable.
Absolutely agree with all of this! My Miata was a hair more fun (in my opinion) but if I could have only owned one car at the time this would have been the overall better choice!
The Miatas 340lbs cargo limit which includes people, for my wife and I meant zero luggage. The BRZs 700lbs limit was the winner for our weekend getaways.
Your microphone is messed up. It sounds like your microphone is wet. Also, was wondering if this Subaru engine every fixed the oil starvation issues with the oil pickup tube? I've read too the manual transmission 2nd gear are weak or defective. That needs to be repaired as well.
Yeah, I’m not sure what happened in this one. 😬 I haven’t heard those being common issues but also I hardly follow the BRZ/86 forums. I’d ask this question or search for a thread there. Thanks for watching!
I own a silver 24BRZ premium 6MT. I’ve owned over a dozen sports cars in my lifetime and this car has been more fun than all of them. It’s one of those cars that you look forward to driving every day. I know some will say it needs more horsepower but to be honest it doesn’t. The power to weight ratio is just right and it is a great overall package. I noticed that you did not mention the new sport mode feature for the 6MT for 2025. Did you happen to test sport mode to see if it made any type of difference? I read that it makes a slight throttle mapping adjustment.

The car did change. They retuned the steering, throttle and suspension (a little more oversteer available in BRZ for '25). Also changed turn signals to regular kind but I actually found I like the one's on the '24. The GR86 gets less aggressive throttle tuning. No one has mentioned much about the changes leading me to conclude that they are subtle.
Wrong. The cars not that well built. They use gummy sealer on the oil pan and engine instead of gaskets. Causing gunk in the oil pan return. And I test drove one. The brakes are worse than a basic economy car.
The car stops from 60 in 106ft with either the regular brakes or the Brembos. You must be driving some amazing economy cars. The brakes do take a bit more pressure but not excessively so.
That’s for sure! 91 octane is a pain, especially for a naturally aspirated factory motor. I get it for a boosted engine or a tuned car but factory 4 cylinder come on. 🫠
@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 Not only does this car have a high compression ratio for a naturally asperated car, it is also tuned from the factory with aggressive cam and spark timing. It's tuned so aggressively that unless you do cooling mods, or put some ethanol in it during the summer, it will pull timing almost all the time. Even with premium fuel, the engine control computer keeps this engine pulled back from its full potential. Based on research found in the forums, it takes between 15% to 20% of ethanol blend to keep this engine "all in".
Haha, don’t knock it until you’ve driven a new one. 🤪 IMO they’re more fun than the Plaid, any hellcat, ZL1, or even most Corvettes I’ve driven. The C8 might be as fun on the street, but it’s close.
It has an LSD and ESC (all vehicles duh). It's also faster than a MX-5 and you can buy one for 30k right now (base). And the nearest competitor that has a turbo and adaptive suspension is a top trim WRX at 46k. Get your facts straight but you start slinging arrows.
This kind of car is not for EV people. Plenty of microwaves with wheels to choose from but you won't be rowing your own gears or enjoying anything that has to do with automotive fun. But at least you'll be driving at the pleasure of the government.
