Spotted Doves 28Apr2022 Day 3

Day 3 of our recording.
After two days of gathering the twigs, the doves are ready to start putting together their nest. They started the day like usual at about half seven, and spend some time preening one another before putting the twigs together. First half of the day was spent gathering more twigs and then everything starts to come together. One will stay behind to build the nest (presumably the female?) while the other would go gather but there is a lot of teamwork and you could clearly see how the pair are committed to the project. It is such amazing that they are natural structure engineers. They ended the day at about four in the afternoon and left the nest unattended to elements and predators (see day 4...)
