    Austin, good thing you decided to take the head off, me I always figure you come this far might as well go all the way and make sure everything is ok.
    Really looking forward to the completion of this project. Love watching you tackle problems head on and then making the right decisions, next time you want to flush out the block, use white vinegar and let it sit, does a real nice job of breaking down the crud inside the block. great job as always. 👍👍👍

    Enjoy every show. Won't hate on the VW swap great motor. I am always just hoping for a V8 swap from like a Sequoia or Tundra... probably doesn't fit ? Honestly don't know if or how.... but it would be interesting. A V8 in a Taco.. ? Many years ago V8's were dropped in the Chevy LUV, and the S10. So, why not a Toyota V8 swap... great reliable motor. Could be one of your next projects.... Also curious to see if you paint match and keep the topper on it. I like them, but oddly you young guys don't lol. Also be fun to see how much lift your going to do... again be fun to get it up in the air a little more than mild... If you leave the topper on it. A nice custom fabricated exoskeleton roof rack would be fun.... ahh one thing at a time... it's coming along good 👍

    Have you considered buying an ultrasonic cleaner? I've got one thats big enough to fit that head in it, it only cost $250 from amazon. Its been SUPER handy, if you clean off 90% of gunk, it gets the last 10% which as you know is always the hardest. Its cleaning the parts for the locking hubs for my samurai as I type. The parts come out looking just as good if not better than any machine shop with a hot tank can do.

    Toyota FIPG, (form in place gasket). I have the Jeep guys coming in all the time buying the stuff from our parts department.
    Are you going to use the stock tranny and xfer case? I happen to have a 4X Innovation Tacoma Super Duty Mount if you are using the stock setup behind the engine. I was going to use it but it is a little too " Super Duty" for my stock truck so I got a new stock one to go back in. The SD mount has polyeurothane bushings and uses thicker steel than stock. It is a nice mount but not for me. It has about 5 miles on it before I parked the truck and waited for the other bushing to come in and did that job yesterday. Let me know if you need it and I am sure we could work something out. Keep the videos coming!

    • @austinniemela
      @austinniemela  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I guess you're right about that. If you know anyone that needs a mount for their rock crawler let me know. I guess that I could try and find some rubber bushings that fit and press them in. That will be a down the road project unless someone wants it. Thanks man.

    For oil pans or other places I want a nearly permanent seal that I don't want to leak, I use Ford TA-31 or International T-442 sealant. It's used on 7.3, 6.0 and 6.4 Powerstrokes for the oil pan and other points on the motor. It's formulated to prevent the degradation of anti-foaming agents in the oil. When you open the tube, the stuff smells like rubber.
