It's a great thing to show your kids about engines and other automotive things. I started learning at the age of 4. Lots memories from having your son in the video my stepfather showed me mechanics ..I value your channel. It's our job as parents to pass on the every day skills and both of my son's are getting every thing I know. Your awesome Nate.
My son used to watch me work on my rigs and even his first car. I finally realized that I wasn't doing him any favors by fixing his stuff. I backed off, but am always available for questions and showing him some tips and tricks. He swapped his rear end in his samurai last year, and now he does his own work. I was surprised how knowledgeable he was after I took a step back. Having kids watch and just generally be involved in repairs not only helps us bond, but their brains soak up information like a sponge. Start them young and watch in amazement at what you have created.
as someone who loves jeeps( I used to have an 81 CJ-7) and who was huge in the early TDI game(I have an '06 Golf TDI) and have personally worked with Matt Whitbread on a fab build for TDIs. I can tell you he is an absolute magician with the TDI engine. I have driven in one of his early twin turbo tdi builds in an old 96 passat wagon, that thing scared the bejeezus out of me it was soo strong. you have the best parts with the best fabricator out there. you have done your research and i applaud your for your great research. love this build as the TDI engine it a powerhouse.
The time you can spend with your kids teaching them the better. Watching you and your son is far from distracting. After my son lost his son at 2 years old, it warms my heart to see parents spending every possible minute with their children. Look forward to meeting y’all somewhere in the future.

I agree with all the support for having your son in the shop with you. I would only add, never let being effecient stop you from working with your kids. It might take five times longer but it will be 1000 times more rewarding. The time spent now will come back around when they are older. Plus you will never look back and think man I wish I had done more builds but my son slowed me down. You only have 18 years until they are on their own spend every minute with them.

As a Father myself, I agree with Matt Conroy. Kids aren’t a distraction. We need to pass on our information to the next generation of enthusiasts. I say enthusiasts, because no matter what your hobby or profession we need to get the younger generation into it and know about it, for it to carry on in the future. Thank you Nate for all your great content. Keep showing and teaching that little man everything you know. Also if your daughter is interested in it do the same with her. My girls want to go and do everything that I do. They are a little young yet for the hunting stuff, but they have been off-roading since before they were born. Six months after they were born they started riding with my wife and I on the trails and the dunes.
I don't know about any body else but I think it's great that your willing to teach your son things like this. My dad never could work on cars but I was lucky in that I had 2 uncles that let me learn from them. Good job dad....

My dad just bought a (de)magnetizer from Amazon, used it for some RC car drivers. He was always busy "making the money" but I remember when we first started working on engines together (go-kart my friend pulled out of the creek). He showed me how to lap valves etc. So good on you for giving you kid a head start! Be a cool dad and get him a minibike when he inevitably wants one lol. Best way to let a kid to learn engines is when their minibike isn't working (or is not fast enough) 😉 when all they want to do is ride. I couldn't fix a bicycle chain (had no desire to) before I got the minibike that I learned how to turn a wrench on.

One thing I caught myself doing at work since being remote for years (even before Covid) was to say “sorry I was…”. After thinking about it for a split second the 3rd or 4th time I said it, I realized I wasn’t sorry one bit. Time with our kids is some of the most valuable time we would never get back, glad your son is interested in learning what you know!

I don't wanna be that guy... I hate being that guy... But I have to be that guy. Please for the love of God, get some safety glasses for your son. I absolutely love that you're sharing your knowledge to your son, and please, never, ever think that you including him in any of the videos or projects would be a distraction or an issue in any way. But please, glasses! I was around your sons age when I got shrapnel in my eye that to this day impedes my sight and kept me from joining the Airforce to become a pilot. Had I been wearing them I would have been fine. Continue the awesome content and by all means, teach your kid everything you can, I love it!

Awesome including your son, I do that with my almost 3 year old. I feel that it is important to include as much as I can, he absolutely love helping me! For the NOS, if you do a wet kit you have an injector just for the NOS. You wouldn't have to worry about under fueling like you do with a dry kit, using the engine injectors.
I have a factory 6 and I’m planning to go to an 8. Even though I will never build this I will be watching talk the episodes Nate. Great job man; especially with your son.

This is the way I learned as a kid. I was right there with my dad and my step dad. They both taught me a ton and I can say now that I’m a adult there isn’t anything I put my mind to that can’t be fixed. Hands is the way to go better than any piece of paper imo.

Being a father of a 21yr old and a 24yr old... I can say that you should spend every second you can with your kids. I learned to enjoy every stage of their lives as they grew up and now we are just as close as when they were young.
As a guy who grew up being my dad's shadow when it come to basically everything automotive related or farm related. Your son will cherish the time you spend with him in the shop, as I'm sure you do to. I know some people might think of him as a distraction, but there intidled to their own opinions. Enjoy your time with your son, who knows, maybe we'll see him building killer rigs right along side you in the next few years
I honest love seeing you as a dad. My father was a very abusive person when I was a child he taught me about tools but didn’t bother teaching my about cars. I learned it all on my own now me and him have a great relationship and although I don’t want children I appreciate good dads raising men and not boys.

Time with our kids is some of the most valuable time we would never get back, glad your son is interested in learning what you know!
The learning curve is going up, may never build a diesel but I will enjoy the information. Knowledge is power.

I don't wanna be that guy... I hate being that guy... But I have to be that guy. Please for the love of God, get some safety glasses for your son. I absolutely love that you're sharing your knowledge to your son, and please, never, ever think that you including him in any of the videos or projects would be a distraction or an issue in any way. But please, glasses! I was around your sons age when I got shrapnel in my eye that to this day impedes my sight and kept me from joining the Airforce to become a pilot. Had I been wearing them I would have been fine. Continue the awesome content and by all means, teach your kid everything you can, I love it!

Awesome including your son, I do that with my almost 3 year old. I feel that it is important to include as much as I can, he absolutely love helping me!
For the NOS, if you do a wet kit you have an injector just for the NOS. You wouldn't have to worry about under fueling like you do with a dry kit, using the engine injectors.
I have a factory 6 and I’m planning to go to an 8. Even though I will never build this I will be watching talk the episodes Nate. Great job man; especially with your son.
That's amazing .. keep your kid close by they are smart and learn quick. I keep my 6 year old around every time I do a project and I'm planning in doing so with my 2 year old as much as I can. Congrats 👏
Thanks for including your son! I wish my 15 year old son showed more interest in getting hands on with car maintenance and repairs. My 13 year old daughter on the other hand loves to tag along and help!

This is the way I learned as a kid. I was right there with my dad and my step dad. They both taught me a ton and I can say now that I’m a adult there isn’t anything I put my mind to that can’t be fixed. Hands is the way to go better than any piece of paper imo.

You are 100% correct. Teach your son or daughter. Your videos are better with your son in them. I love to see that. I let my kids help me with whatever I was doing and I did that with my grandkids also.

Being a father of a 21yr old and a 24yr old... I can say that you should spend every second you can with your kids. I learned to enjoy every stage of their lives as they grew up and now we are just as close as when they were young.
As a guy who grew up being my dad's shadow when it come to basically everything automotive related or farm related. Your son will cherish the time you spend with him in the shop, as I'm sure you do to. I know some people might think of him as a distraction, but there intidled to their own opinions. Enjoy your time with your son, who knows, maybe we'll see him building killer rigs right along side you in the next few years

I honest love seeing you as a dad. My father was a very abusive person when I was a child he taught me about tools but didn’t bother teaching my about cars. I learned it all on my own now me and him have a great relationship and although I don’t want children I appreciate good dads raising men and not boys.
