    MAN! this was AMAZING! Videos like this are a rarity these days done in the form of how GM explained their cars in the 50s. And I have to admit, it sounds better with a southern accent. But the Quality of this video is MILES above anything I have seen. FANTASTIC JOB DUDE!
    I don't even own this model of blower. But I figure My Ryobi RY38BP Backpack Leaf Blower had the same thing that went out on it. And RIGHT on the day of the 3 year warranty expiring!
    I just ordered a parts blower from Ebay, and plan to just swap out parts that way. But I will have to look into these RC couplings.
    Again, thank you and WONDERFUL job and explanation & Links!

    You can also try to drill a hole through the plastic coupling and secure it back onto the motor shaft with a grub screw. Just like how a pinion gets secured onto a motor.
    This is what I did with mine, time will tell if it holds.
    It's a really bad design by Ryobi, I mean fair enough if it's suppose to be a sacrificial coupling in case somethings get jammed in the turbines but then at least sell the replacement part for it.

      @@justinarthur5522 it did, with some issues. Had to make a channel to fit the hex key in and tighten the coupling in the right position. Definitely a frustrating experience putting it back together. I 3d printed a piece and it worked for a while but metal seems to be the way to go as it's still working. Glad I got my blower for super cheap used. Here's the name of the one I got in case you're interested: Befenybay 2 Pcs 6mm to 8mm Universal Joint Shaft Coupling with Screws for Motor

    THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO! This is my exact problem with this exact product. I spent hours looking around at my local hardware stores for a solution, considered adapting the cheap plastic coupler with a torque washer or a ratchet bit, but niether were are viable or as long term as this. Question: have you found any other couplers that are an exact fit against the motor and the fan blade? Drilling into the coupler in the video isnt a great option for me, but if this is the best coupler for the fix I will definitely explore drilling the larger holes on each side to accomodate the coupling the two components.
    Thank you again, very well done and appreciated!

    • @ThriftyToolShed
      @ThriftyToolShed  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not found any closer to size than this. I honestly spent more time than most would even believe searching to find this type that was slightly smaller and could be modified. It is about the only option even available that I know of. Any others would require drilling into the side of the housing to tighten the coupling up with a hex wrench after putting it together. Thanks for your kind comment and I wish you the best of luck with yours!

    Love this video and just placed my order for the coupling
    This coupling issue makes me wonder if Ryobi has used a better coupler on the Whisper Series 730
    Would love your opinion of the Ryobi 730 vs the EGO 765 CFM Blower LB7654
    Interested if one is truly a less-likely-to-fall-apart-fast type of machine

    • @ThriftyToolShed
      @ThriftyToolShed  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your kind comment! I really do like my EGO equipment. The Ryobi 40V platform has been so problematic that I don't have much faith in it. They may have better packs now, but I will not spend my money to see. I don't have enough experience with the EGO 730cfm blower itself to say much about it. I have only had the 480, 530 and 650CFM EGO blowers. I have had no failure on any of my bought new EGO items except the very first battery video I have. That got me started with EGO. The other many repair videos are either items I bought as non-working or some that was sent to me just so we could learn more about them on video. Best of luck to ya!

    Our blower stopped working and it's making a spinning noise now. Is that more than likely a coupling issue?

    • @ThriftyToolShed
      @ThriftyToolShed  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a common failure for sure. If you can hear the motor whine or spin up and the turbo fan is not turning or just barely turning them it's the coupling!

    I hope this isn't going to happen to me Now! I stumbled upon this video trying to learn how to separate the green piece from the black piece on the first section that you took off. Have you ever tried to separate those to pieces yet, I need some help! 😆 there are two torque screws on that piece you took off first that I am assuming are not for Assembly Operations? Cause nothing came loose? Any help would be highly appreciated thanks

    • @ThriftyToolShed
      @ThriftyToolShed  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi,
      I believe you are asking about removing the very end green tip section from the gray outlet tube. It has screws on the bottom to remove as you stated and then it has large catches on the inner sides of the tune. So with a large flat screw driver or similar tool you can reach in from the open end and wedge in on the sides and release the catches. It's kind of a pain because the whole side tab on each side is the locking tab. Hope it helps.

      @Thrifty Tool Shed awesome thanks! Going at it with a flathead screwdriver is usually my last resort on things I do not want to end up snapping, cracking, or breaking. I gave up my Collision Repair career due to 80% of a front end hit is made of Plastic, under the hood, or inserts on the front bumper. Lol. Well wish me luck Thanks. If I get this off I can have a round attachment point for my DIY, PVC extendend blower contraption. Lol. for all the leaves in my gutters. Thanks 😊

      @@cmspnutty8001 yes flat screwdriver is not the best tool for that job and it sounds like you know all about that. I simply did not know what all tools people have so hated to say to use something too weird. So a larger flat object to fit in that wedge would be better for sure. So flat screwdriver might make sense for most. Not best... 🤣

    My fiance's daughter was blowing off the trampoline and told her not to use the blower but you know kids are We killed her just kidding no she got wrote caught in the propeller blades I had to dismantle it We have the 40 volt one she was wearing some type of rope around her waist that tangled all around inside the propeller so I just bounded it unwrapped the rope put it back together and now it doesn't work there look like a heat sink thing connected with red and black wire not sure but it's slid out while I was taking it apart and I'm not sure where it went so I just buttoned it up neatly but that's been bothering me I think that has something to do with why it's not working maybe it has to make contact with something? I didn't see any place that it would fit I tried a few times just didn't know where it went could that be why it's not working? It's the 40 volt one with the weird handle that we lost the bolt to as soon as we got the thing lol it clicks up and down making the handle different angles. Any ideas would be welcome!
