Swiftsure 2011 - Thunderbird Yacht in Juan de Fuca Race outperforming the big boats

This is video of a 26' Thunderbird Class sailboat racing and beating the big boats to Race Rocks Pass on May 28th 2011 in the Swiftsure yacht race. The Scooter Boys on Sirocco beat many larger boats from Division1 and 3 to Race Rocks after about 4 hours of racing. This is an incredible accomplishment given the big boats are faster and started earlier. Division 1 boats started 1 hour earlier than Sirocco in Division 4. All the more impressive is the fact that Sirocco was built in 1978 and designed over 50 years ago as a-do-it-yourself racer/cruiser. Congratulations to an incredible crew with tons of experience, local knowledge and irrepressible desire to sail.
