I agree that the show felt less genuine with how they aggressively do their sales pitch for these games.

This show has replaced PC Gaming for 'it goes on until the heat death of the universe'.

1:07:45 Jesse, Dunkey, PewDiePie. Developing games just synergizes well. Markiplier is funding an Iron Lung movie off this concept.

Apogee Entertainment is a new company who bought the rights to the name from 3D Realms (the original Apogee) in 2008. They're not the same Apogee that made Wolfenstein and Duke Nukem.

As much as I like the devs getting exposure on shows like this, I feel like they really need to figure out how to make them more interesting. Either have someone media trained who can be hyped up and energetic and get people interested, or figure out something. Even if I like the game, I'm just zoning out listening to them.
Esfand is a good host though. And I was impressed how professional Chance was. I think the show is a little bit too indie for me. I didn't find the games that interesting to me, but I enjoyed the banter bits. Cutting it into genres was a cool idea too. Cohh was right I think, they did seem a bit stiff. They need more chaos in the show, that's when they seem to be at their best.
Cohh being like "I love how extra emily doesn't look at her notes and is just happy to be there" Yeah, that's kind of her in a nutshell.
The guest star stuff on twitch seems really confusing and gimmicky. Maybe I just don't get it.

I agree with your comment fully. It doesn’t feel very cohesive as a show yet.

They must be so busy they can't possibly do a decent job of all the things they promised, especially QA etc.

its basically the same conversation that was had for dunkeys studio. they talked about that on a dropped frames episode, if you are curious.
long story short: publishers do more than just fund a game. just to name a few things, they usually help a ton with localization and law for other countries, QA testing and lots of market research. most youtuber / streamer publishers want creative input on the games for their investment, without being much help outside of that.
If i recall correctly Ramis answer to dunkey saying he 'will only be publishing games that are good' was along the lines of 'oh wow. no other publisher has thought about that yet'
its not that OTK is bad. its mainly that they have 0 experience with making, or publishing games. they are "just" experienced gamers with money. So its gonna be an uphill battle for sure. could be great, could be bad.

It just seems like pure greed to me, not only do they make 6/7 figures a year streaming games, now they want a piece of the games overall revenue for promoting it. Also, how genuine and organic do you think these streams will be if they have a financial incentive to promote the games? Even if a game is trash, the more they hype it up and generate sales, the more money they will make its as simple as that.

I think he's just skeptical. They're easy things to promise but hard to deliver on. Also it sounds like Jesse does similar stuff and the other guys weren't really convinced it was that similar. At least that was the impression I got.
I think impressions will change a lot once we see how the reality of the company turns out.

Cohh was overly positive but it's true that the problems are easily fixable lol. And yes, streaming so many days without breaks does take a toll on you

does zeke even watch twitch? i get that he prob doesn't watch most of otk , but to pretend he doesn't even know who the biggest streamers on the platform is a big example of whats wrong with twitch these days, when other content creators have no idea who the top streamers are.

    • @terakahn
      @terakahn 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

It's really easy to stay within your own circle on twitch and not be aware of a ton of huge names. I didn't know who Kai Cenat was until I heard he was nominated for a streamer of the year award and was passing certain people I do watch, in sub count and they'd talked about it.
I hadn't ever heard of ishowspeed until Ludwig talked about how he was the biggest streamer on the platform.

I do watch twitch and follow 150+ streamers (yes and I watch every single one of them) but except dropped frames show most of them aren't partners. I also have no way of knowing who any of these guys are lol
