You can’t train for something that doesn’t exist. Unlike players that came later and grew up training the 3 point shot. If you grew up practicing a shot, you should be better at it. Initially, the 3 point line was frowned upon because it came from the ABA.

It was introduced into the NCAA in 1986-87 so it didn’t exist when players of that era were growing up or in high school or college. It was introduced into the NBA in the 79-80 season. You can’t train for something that doesn’t exist. Unlike players that came later and grew up training the 3 point shot. If you grew up practicing a shot, you should be better at it. Initially, the 3 point line was frowned upon because it came from the ABA.
