So sorry for your loss. We had to put my cat of 15 years to sleep in December and I cried about it for months. In March, we saw an 8 month old kitten on the Humane Society website, went right over there and had adopted her a day later. The first time she curled up in my lap like my Xander had done was the first time I slept well in three months. Mostly, I’m just trying to say, whether it takes you a week or three months or two years to be ok, that is normal and fine and don’t expect too much of yourself. Our pets are our beloved family members who give unconditional love and they leave a hole when they go but at least we can be happy that we treasured them while we had them and they lived the best of lives!

If you want a less romance-centric version of that last book, I recommend The Castaways by Lucy Clarke. Great thriller about strangers stuck on an island that had me feeling anxious the whole way through.
