One small thing, when you mentioned Brig you said Sigma can’t one shot because she has shields, but it’s actually because she has armor which reduces damage, I assume this is a mistake, otherwise, great video
Yup! Used wrong term haha thought about after. She’s interesting because she has armor which doesn’t regen like shields. BUT with the support passive hers do so my brain always thinks of them as shields haha
Its the same concept unless you are being shot by multiple people you should always try to follow up with 2 direct shots for ult charge and the posibility of a kill, not to mention that if they are very close to you, you can shoot 1 ball then inmediately use rock and then 2 directs shots and you will likely be doing more than 250dmg, or you can use rock then 2 direct shots and then a melee and you still get oneshots except on reaper torb and soldier (if hes using heal pad), and if you are gonna throw a rock to a tank if you are close after he is stunned put your shield behind them to avoid the heal of the supports rather than melee the tank, of course if you can stay close, dont stay close to a rein or any tank that can pierce shield and grasp, because he is gonna block the rock with shield/ability and run you down
Another shield tip: You can use it like a symmetra ult. Just place it close and keep switching sides to annoy enemies who are pushing you (or when you are in a 1v1).
little addon for that last tip, you dont always have to fly high into the air when you use his ult. his flight is useful for aiming flux and it can lead to some sick repositioning, but you could always just stay grounded with you team
Same with McCree and his one tap and homing missile. It does 201 damage but Brigitte has armor. I believe she can also survive Junkrat now? Or at least require him to have perfect accuracy with it.
Also the last point, using natural cover is also helpful because you can be shielding your team and activate your ult and swiftly hide behind natural cover like pharah and Peek out at the rythim of your primary fire
Another fun thing to do with Sig’s barrier is chucking at an enemy pharah while she ults, most likely causing a self death if positioned right, leaves much satisfaction when it works.
Just started playing again after a year or two and I’ve been really enjoying Sigma, probably my favorite tank to play now, normally I’m a DVa/Winston tank player. Looks like the main thing I need to work on is effective shield use
Barrier is also great for preventing heroes like bap and Ana from healing their allies. I’ll often throw it out past the tank to stop them getting healed.
Another tip from me, plat peak Sigma main, use your shield to block off snipers and people on height and use the environment and stuns as shields. You don't need an 800 damage sponge all the time, using stuff like the falling walls on Busan Factory is perfect, and you have great space making with your busting balls. If an enemy pops a powerful cooldown or you know they have it, that's when you can drop the shield off height and redeploy it to stop the execution of said cooldown.
i feel like the ult shield is good for new sigmas but once u start getting higher in comp theyre gonna guess and kill u as soon as u clock ult since u agve away that uberre gonna use it
I feel good knowing that I pretty much immediately picked up on these good habits when I picked up Sigma and quickly realized and stopped the bad habits. And I absolutely love the rock+primary combo. So satisfying. Though my most satisfying use of the rock was when I killed a midair Pharah from pretty far away with it and Sigma just screamed "EARTH MEETS SKY"
a big tip i never see anybody talk about it is if you’re dueling a sigma mirror you want to keep your shield down so you can wait for the enemy sigma to use rock, and because rock is super telegraphed its very easy to use barrier to block the rock
An old habit i had with sigma was to spam cast his barrier, it annoys enemies but eversince they made the cooldown longer i use it to force enemies to reposition or bait them to a vacuum
Who all remembers rock before it’s stun nerf, where some would launch it into the heavens above for maximum stun. Or some just trying to do cross maps. Maybe this was just me 😅
I legit didn't think about putting up a barrier pre before using my ult to help me at times get through it. And I've been playing this mang for a good while. Great tip on that seriously.
A good time to switch off is against Rein, Ram, Zarya, and a good Symmetra. All four of them can kinda just walk right through whatever your doing and make Sigma highly ineffective unless you have tight team coordination. The issue with Sigma is that these characters make his life absolutely miserable, and there’s a little counter play to them without relying heavily on your team. Personally I think this makes Sigma the most suppressable tank, which is the trade-off for being the most flexible. Always switch to counter whatever is countering you, it will depend on the situation like most things.
Don’t over stress counter picks at first. Learn 2-3 tanks and stick to those till you feel comfortable on them. Most top players don’t main more than like 4-5
I've been playing sigma on and off in between games with junker Queen because I feel more confident with him, (whenever I'm scared I'll lose the next game and rank down) and this really helps. Thanks!
I am loving and becomin a sig main and one of the usual things i use the barrier for is to shield any low teammate so they can run back in time for heals. That shield is a live saver.
Another thing is to always have your shield in hands while in combat with 3 person(unless sniper) never know when will they attack be stronger or strong ults that affect our slow scientist like bastion ult or dvas
As a long time sigma main, icl I never thought of the shielding before my ult before lol, seems so obvious now. I would usually just bait out the stuns
also a unique way to use shield that i sometimes do in certain situations is to cut off the tank from supports like ana to prevent heals. again this is situational and you probably shouldn’t do it when there are both dps’ present who can shred your shield or if there’s a moira or something
I keep using the 121 shield combo primary fire throw rock and then while the animation for the rock is being thrown hold both primary and shield in just a couple of seconds you can hit 3 shots and place a shield to defend from their inevitable retaliation and then wait behind the shield for the cool downs do it twice with and extra primary fire can kill most tanks
Don't forget torb and reaper and mei and bastion too!

Sooo, more health?

a second character you practice or like alot
A good time to switch off is against Rein, Ram, Zarya, and a good Symmetra. All four of them can kinda just walk right through whatever your doing and make Sigma highly ineffective unless you have tight team coordination.

The ult shield is so simple and effective yet I’ve never seen anyone do it 😭
Man i never even thought of shield +ult combo, now the universe will sing to me.
An ana with a sigma shield in front of them is an ana that cant do anything useful without getting to a different, likely less safe posistion.
Damn sounds like we need to nerf genji
As a long time sigma main, icl I never thought of the shielding before my ult before lol, seems so obvious now. I would usually just bait out the stuns
Sigma: *places shield in the air to protect himself ulting*
Sombra: *presses Q to delete the shield and ult*
also a unique way to use shield that i sometimes do in certain situations is to cut off the tank from supports like ana to prevent heals. again this is situational and you probably shouldn’t do it when there are both dps’ present who can shred your shield or if there’s a moira or something
When dueling an enemy sigma wait for him to kinetic grasp then Rock him. Also always be ready to stop his rock with your shield
