  • Recently we've seen players invited to the Cataclysm Classic closed Beta for World of Warcraft Classic. As we begin to draw closer towards the release of Cataclysm Classic, it's worth looking forward to what raids Cataclysm Classic will bring to Classic World of Warcraft once again. Raiding in Cataclysm was often said to be one of its most redeeming qualities, with iconic raids such as Firelands. However, Cataclysm also brought its fair share of changes to raid systems in World of Warcraft also. So, what raids can you expect to see Cataclysm Classic? Let's find out.

Are you looking forward to raiding in Cataclysm Classic? 🤔

Cata and MoP are the sole reason I play Classic WoW again.
Firelands and Throne of Thunder are in my opinion the 2 best Raids in WoW (at least until Draenor, as I didnt continue after that. Although Brackrock Foundry was also really good).
All aboard the Hype Train ! CHOO CHOO !!

@@Lotuswalker you’re spot on there, Throne of Thunder is top tier; I really liked Siege. Hopefully they do it justice if MoP comes around again.

Cataclysm was very stacked at the start and then they made mistakes later.
People commonly refer to wrath as being extremely good but wrath is the polar opposite. Wrath started really weak and got better later.

You said once you do a heroic boss you have to continue to finish the raid on heroic which is false. You can freely switch between normal and heroic but once you do heroic you're locked to a specific raid ID that everyone in the group will share. You will be locked to the raid size but will absolutely be able to revert back to normal. Many people will do shannox on heroic in firelands and switch it back to normal after.

i love phase 1 BWD BOT are incredible raids! Firelands is top tier one of my most favorite ive done ever! and the best raid in cataclysm! Dragon soul has some miss steps! mainly dealing with SPINE being significantly harder then Deathwing! the fights are interesting though from beginning to end!

Agree with that! Got great memories of Tier 11/12 and interested to see how Dragon Soul fairs now we know what we’re headed into!

i think spine will still suck ass! but unless they tune it differently dragon soul really wasnt all that hard in comparison to alot of raids!

The raids weren't the problem with Cata. The dungeons were. Dragonsoul was an underwhelming end to raiding and canceling the other raid that was supposed to be released with Firelands wasn't good but the raids and fights were good. Completely changing dungeon gameplay caught everyone by surprise though. Every class needed an interrupt when relatively few were used to using one, you had to coordinate interrupts before fights in dungeons, CC was necessary on almost every trash pack in most dungeons and instead of realizing they over tuned everything in the age of the dungeon finder, they released the troll dungeons. Until we started to over gear it a patch later you could literally not get past the final boss in ZG if you had two mele dps on LFD. This was at a time when doing a daily dungeon was still necessary for gearing. So many bosses had one shot mechanics and combine that with the graphics update and many people's PC's weren't good enough to run the game with the new one shot mechanics because they were hard to see on an older computer such as the Stonecore. This led to massive strife and division in the player base until Firelands and the dungeon problem continued on until the three new Caverns of TIme dungeons dropped which were much more reasonable and easier to clear than the dungeons prior. I will always look at 5 man ZG and ZA as the games biggest mistake right next to WoD and Shadowlands and a large reason why the player base started to drop off after Wrath. The dungeons were a problem at the start of Cata and they very next patch they doubled down and made it worse. Now before anybody says that "they weren't that hard" and other blah blah blah, I personally could clear the content and wasn't personally the problem with groups that struggled. Anybody that had the ability to get a Kingslayer title in Wrath was able to do it but even then there was still a learning curve with specs like mine, ret paladin, needed to learn how to interrupt on the regular for the first time or use CC on almost every dungeon trash pack. That took a lot of coordination with assignments and you didn't just need to know what you could CC you had to know how every CC worked for every class and the dungeon finder does not give you optimal group composition. And for those of you that say you should just use premade groups of friends and guild members I would say that some of us have jobs, and some of our jobs aren't standard hours and that's not always practical which is why things like LFD were created in the first place.

Tbh, sounds like you could benefit from doing a battleground/arena here and there.

@@ahetzel9054 doing PVP was how I learned to play the game. I started playing in February 2009 a little bit before Ulduar dropped. It took me a couple of months to level, it was a lot slower back then and I didn't learn things like I do now such as don't worry about professions just keep questing and hitting levels. There was no LFD to help you complete dungeon quests so a lot of time was spent forming groups with other players learning too. When I finally hit 80 and wanted to start experiencing end game unless you found a group of people willing to take you along and teach you on the way the only way to get epic gear was pvp. This meant a lot of chain running battlegrounds for hours on end, mostly Alterac Valley due to the fact it gave out the most honor. That's how I got enough gear where people would let me join heroic dungeons and I could start earning emblems for good PVE gear. When I first started I didn't have a clue what I was doing and it was like a trial by fire before I could hold my own in PVP and then later actually got good at it. I was later able to join a raiding guild that was doing 25 man Ulduar on Tuesdays then breaking off into ten man TOC on Wednesday and Thursday. I would still go back and do older content and pvp as well in my free time. By the time we got to 25 man TOC progression I was one of the few of us that really excelled at the Faction Champs fight because you had to play like a PVPer. By the end of Wrath I had gone from a new player to clearing the Lich King on ten man normal every week and the highest geared Ret Paladin on my server. It was a small server with only 1 top 200 guild and they were around 130. But I really learned to play the game and got pretty good at it. My previous post was about the general player base, not my personal skill set.

all of the raids are great, only dissapointment imo is deathwing (both madness and spine) in ds, the rest are fine to me. firelands is one of the greatest oat, and the first tier has great raids too. way better than wotlk with just re-used raids (onyx, naxx) and lame OS, EoE. Only good raid is honestly ICC, ulduar is overrated (way too easy for one)

@@SmoothjazGamingTV they already screwed that up with Wrath classic with not including LFD at launch. My computer crapped out and I went 3 weeks without one and missed launch. By the time I came back players were already doing GS and achievement checks and I couldn't find groups for anything. I tried to come back for 3.3 only to find that they had ruined dungeons and the catch up mechanic by essentially putting in Mythic Plus dungeons with affixes. That wasn't Wrath of the Lich King or the experience of it. It was a bastardized version of it. Like usual they catered to the elite of the elite unemployed player base who have the time to min max and use every aspect of the game to do so and I don't see that changing anytime soon. Wrath classic became more about doing everything we did over a decade ago just doing it faster and they added things like a Mythic Plus dungeon style to assist with that instead of actually letting us play the classic version of the game. This game did not peak with Wrath's launch, or Ulduar, or ToC. It peaked at ICC when LFD was introduced and so many players started convincing their friends and family to play with them because after the leveling process it was much easier to gear someone up to be raid ready for the current raid tier in ICC. Old school elitists hate that take but the numbers don't lie.

@@straighttalkwithkyle7947 I agree with some of the points you made there - for me I’m not against/for LFR or LFD. I think they’re pretty handy and alt friendly; in retail I only have one proper raiding char but happily run my alts through LFR as bit of fun!
If it gets added I wouldn’t be surprised and I personally wouldn’t be angry, but still see why lots of people aren’t keen on it being in there.
Realistically we have SoD/Vanilla Era now which stick more to classic structure so I think the outrage for it being added to Cata becomes less valid overtime (including further changes to Wrath you noted).
Still interested to see what happens decision wise for LFR in the future! 😊
