Some small changes with pre-patch now live. So far the only difference is that you can only gain skill points from surveying until 50. Will keep you posted if I find any other differences, positive or negative. Update: You no longer need to do any shenanigans with stopping at 375 to avoid pushing yourself into getting digsites in Uldum or Twilight Highlands. Just keep going straight to 450 and start solving.
@@Riyaniwow Someone in my guild mentioned something about staying at 375 to discover stuff until going up to 450 to increase your chances of getting the pre raid epic? Have you heard about this and are you able to explain it better?
Nice video, although there are two points I'd like to add. First of all, if youre going for 359 epics, those don't have a chance of appearing until 450 skill, so it's best to avoid solving troll & dwarf as much as possible until then. Secondly (and this also helps with the former point) Outland is the #1 place to level archeology once you start getting digsites there. Every continent has their own digsite pool and Outland is by far the smallest continent so the travel times are very short in comparison to EK and Kalimdor. In addition there are only orc or draenei digsites in Outland which don't have any 359 epics, so you're not forced to spend fragments and therefore waste your chance on 359 epics.
You'll stay in Eastern Kingdom pretty much at all times. But if you get 200 troll/dwarf fragments before you reach 100, then you go to Kalimdor UNTIL you reach level 100. After level 100, you start crafting and head back to Eastern Kingdom and maybe Outland before 450, then exclusively Eastern Kingdom til you get your weapon.
@@Riyaniwow I'd recommend northrend for the troll sword since troll dig sites are in northrend and you have flying, but I get the want for the dwarf staff
@@Riyaniwow You mentioned Zin'Rokh having a 7% chance, is that really true? If that's so then it seems like everyone would be able to get it in pre-patch.
3:31 if 450 is the minimum required for epic gear to show up does that mean we'll be able to get the epics in the pre-patch considering that the cap before cata release is 450?
@@Riyaniwow I hope they will be. Imagine how nice it’d feel to have a Zin’Rokh sitting in your bank waiting for you to hit 85 so you can insta equip it
Unfortunately not-- there are only 3 digsites, so you won't have all 4 spawn there. If you're after troll digsites you can clear out Northrend as well.
I have seen some videos where they have like 800 saved up, but It is only letting me save 200 fragments. Do I need to go buy an upgrade somewhere to hold more??
Also do we know if your ability to proc the rare projects is skill level locked AND character level lock or not? I.e if i go nuts in the prepatch can i get zin'd rokh in my bags at level 80?
Hey! Now since we are getting archaeology in the prepatch, i assume we can level to 450. Does this mean we can already start digging towards the epic items? I was also wondering about the 5 skill points for common and 15 for rares. Does this diminish at all or does it stay the same? If it stays could we then save up the fragments in prepatch and instantly hit 525 once cata releases with like 15 solves? Love every video so far by the way!
Seems that way, yes! Will be a pain doing archeology on a ground mount, but what has to be done has to be done! It doesn’t diminish, so I assume you’ll be able to stack up 200 for each faction and just start crafting on release- I’m not sure if you can get epic 85 solves in prepatch, but it does only require 450, so who knows. And thanks!
Thanks for the vid. When doing your digs did you feel like one type of relic group spawned more than the others? Ive ran into progressively less and less dwarf dig sites and last night got almost exclusively troll for hours. Is this pure bad luck?
Partially luck, but once you clear out all rares from one particular "race" they spawn with 50% less frequency, meaning the other ones that are available in that region has a higher likelihood of spawning.
As a Ret Paladin, I grinded for the Troll Sword. It was the worst. I got every single Fossil Rare, all Dwarf Rares and a couple of Night Elf rares before finally finding the sword. And I was still lucky, because it only took me 91 Troll solves to find it. Important to observe: you can level your Arch past 450 because Vash'jir no longer has dig sites. And when you solve all rares of a race, the chance a dig site of that race spawning will drastically reduce. So you could say that it's just a matter of time until you get what you want. Also, the end-game epics can only appear at 450 skill or higher, so save all fragments of the race you want until you reach that level. Tol'vir is the worst, tho. So few dig sites in a continent where you have 2 million Night Elf dig sites.
So only at 450 can we craft the Night elf doll trinket. & we should do it with the scroll in its keystone place? Also which zones do I survey to get highborn scrolls?
I would still solve, because getting the other rares will make it easier to get the sword, just make sure you’re at 200 fragments by the time you get to 450 with plenty of tablets to spare.
I remember in cata i saved all of my troll fragments for 450 to try and get zinrokh im not sure how many it was exactly. but it was A LOT and i didn't get the sword. i dont think it will be worth trying to farm these based off my experience back then, unless they have a higher droprate from the solve
If the cap is 200 in cata, surely the idea then would be to get 450 in the prepatch horde shards then solve like crazy before release hoping to hit your item?
It's not true, that trolls only have one rare project. As far as I know, they have 3. I solved 196 troll artifacts so far and didn't get zin'rokh, but got the pet and the toy.
why "never ever craft without using a keystone if available"? Wouldn't it be better to save all your keystones till your skill is high enough level to unlock the thing you want and use them then?
Just an efficiency thing-- expected us to get more keystones. But you can always buy more if you don't have any as you want to pursue higher level stuff.
Just a thought, do you have to be level 85 to be able to get the 85 epic solves for the BoA epics? As we get archaeology in the pre patch to cata maybe you could farm max fragments and lvl 450 on all if not just a few of your toons (that you dont want to level) and solve them once cata hits? Anyone know if this is possible?
That was my thought too, seeing as it'll be capped at 450. I have no idea frankly, but I would be surprised if they were in the loottable during pre-patch.
