Lucy Lawless and Renee O'Connor had to have been in more fight scenes than any women in television history. And they did an amazing job.
Zoe Bell did most (all?) of Xena’s stunts but Renee did a lot of her own. Any which way, they all did great.
Except for Sarah Michelle Gellar and the chick who played Alias

Yes, these videos are crisp! I really wish they would re-release the show for purchase in this quality. The iTunes version is fuzzy.

I know people don't take this show seriously, but the acting by all characters (especially Gabrielle aka Renee O'Connor) was SUPERB!!!
Gary White I think people don’t understand how cult shows work. This is a Sam Raimi creation, the creator of the original brilliant evil dead trilogy. Xena is meant to be like a pastiche of cool things. When the writing is “bad”, it’s intentionally “bad”. It wasn’t meant to be serious. It was meant to be silly, dark, funny, sad, adventurous, barrier breaking, all at the same time. Basically, clever tv posing as bad. People don’t know how hard it is to get the chemistry of all these things right. Unfortunately it wasn’t for everyone, hence it’s cult status. Very fun show and incredibly memorable performances from Lucy Lawless and Renee O Connor. Their on screen chemistry was otherworldly. Not to mention there was no other show like it at the time, and no, it’s long distant cousin Hercules didn’t even come close.

I'm quite serious about this show. I've never gotten tired of it. Mind you, I think some episodes were not that great, but I'll always be faithful to this show. Been watching since '95, as a 16 year old, it didn't get better than Xena and Gabrielle!
I take this show very seriously. To me the lead actors were all perfect in their roles.
This episode is just one example of how much talent Renee O'Connor has! She was absolutely amazing here!
I thought this was one of her worst performances lol. But I don't care I love this show to bits!!!

Xena’s “30 seconds” were always minutes lol
Except the very final episode where she taught Gabrielle the pinch.......that scene was EXACTLY 30 seconds long from the time she put the pinch on herself until she took it off...... GENIUS writing whoever came up with that idea!!
I always thought Xena episodes were 60 minutes.

Okay, so the wire work on Xena and Hercules never looked "real", but they still pulled off some awesome stunts for 90s TV!
That's probably cos they had amazing stunt people...
Thats part of the fun. It suspends realism but they still sell it so well.

Same. I took a lot away from this show. I use to be someone with bad temper tantrums in my youth but The Debt saga with Lao Ma and Gabby helping to reform Xena rubbed off on me.
The thing that always amazed me about this show was the way it could be positively grim drama one week and and an outright comedic farce the next.

I'm a retired RN and I watched this series many years ago. If I was having a bad day t work, I'd come home for lunch and put an episode in even if I only had 10 minutes. As goofy as it sounds, this was the best 10 minutes of my day and many times I'd come back to work feeling much better.
This show did not obey the laws of gravity at all.
No not really. The one over-the-top scene that sticks in my mind clearly was when Xena leaped out of the water to confront Lao Ma’s son . That was a ridiculous bout of strength required.

@@SamUSB5000 i know that its camp. And i know Sam Raimi was inspired by ridiculous old kung fu movies. But that does not make my statement any less true. I actually pretend that Xena still has some of that telekinetic ability that she subconsciously uses to flip around. Or steer that chakram around and back to her.

I grew up on the best shows, games, anime and movies in the early 80s and 90s and Xena was a fav. I love mythology and Lucy Lawless.
This is an oldie goodie from my childhood.
I started watching it a month ago, I CAN NOT EXPLAIN YOU HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS SHOW, it's so well made

The over the top stunts and flying brought me to this show as a child of 10 years old but honestly, but honestly, as an adult I’ve revisited the show for its memorable and meaningful messages. One of the few shows that wanted you to take more with you than just watching.

@Eu Doar Eu It's not only Egypt. The buildings shown here are looks like indian structures. The red dot on foreign head applied by Gabriel is normally applied by indian women. The painting of elephant shown here is indicates its india. Because elephants are used in india. Not in any other part of the world. Snake game is another example. some dresses weared here are not indian dressing. The costumes are mixture of Indian, arabic countries.

I meet Renee at Fan Expo with this cosplay minus the contacts ... it was legendary to meet her.
I once again admire Renee's acting, when she gets used to the image, you really believe that this is not Gabriel, but already another being. 😎👍

I know that it was ages ago. It's just no matter how much she changes and grows it's still bothers me. It's just something I gotta work on.
She is the Battling Bard of Potidaea, she can do anything ! Most seriously, as said above she never stopped evolving during the 6 years that the show lasted, always asking herself a lot of questions. And this is also what makes her character so interesting, at least as much as Xena' one.

@@lynnlRDR-RDR2 When Lucy is asked about Xena’s death, she says to pretend it never happened. She admitted she didn’t know how powerful the show was to people until she saw the reaction of the series finale. I basically consider Many Happy Returns as the last episode of the series.

U know, Xena and Hercules have something in common, they both have to fight her best friends, when they were possessed by supernatural evil beings
Hercules was possessed himself in "Be Deviled", the worst Hercules episode ever because of that. Iolaus was by Dahak, Gabrielle by Tataka/Mephistopheles.
These ladies had a phenomenal toned bodies

This series taught me so much at an early age and I’ll never forget it. So grateful I grew up watching this. Expanded my mind and interests in ways I’m still discovering. This show was the lead in my holy Trinity of all time Fav Shows: 1st: Xena 2nd Buddy 3rd Charmed.

I watched every season of this show and sure there were a few clunkers but overall this was a good show.thought provoking and often quite moving.the final episode still haunts me.
