In case you didn't catch it, which I assume you did, Mitsugoshi is HIS company. All the money is HIS. HE want to destroy HIS company and rebuild it anew with him on top because HE wants the money even though they literally offer him 1 billion in season 1.

Yes, Cid own the Shadow Garden, also own the Mitsugishi too, but he didn't even realise that
Cid see the company as Gamma's as she run it and he gets freebies as 'gifts' from them like chocolates or clothing, and other things. becuase he see the company as as Gamma's that she built from what he thought her he feel he was cheated out of money, although he would just ask for it and they would give it to him no questions asked in reality .
Mitsugoshi is a joke name. There's a real chain of department stores called Mitsukoshi
along with Tuna King, other would versions of BK lol.
Thats in the subs/localization, as in japanese is "Maguronarudo", which is a mixture Maguro (Tuna) with McDonadls

I don't usually comment, but you guys kind of missed part of the banking mechanics going on here. It's not just that the paper banknotes issued by banks are worth less than the gold specie in the bank vaults, it's that the use of paper banknotes allows the use of fractional reserve banking.
This is where a bank takes in gold from depositors, which is exchanged for paper banknotes, and then issue loans in the form of more paper banknotes using a percentage of the banks reserves. Then if the people that received the loans, or the persons that received banknotes from those the money was loaned to deposit this money into the same bank, the banks reserves increase in value again, allowing the issuing of yet more loans on top of this increase in reserves. This allows the amount of paper banknotes in circulation to vastly exceed the amount of gold specie located in the bank's vaults. It depends on the exact percentage of reserves the bank decides to keep, but if it's 10%, this process allows for 1 million Zeni in the bank vault to eventually be transformed into 10 million Zeni total. This is what Cid means when he says that money is being multiplied.
During normal times, despite the amount of issued bank notes being far in excess of the banks reserves, the bank can still operate normally as there won't be any mass withdrawals. But if an event occurs which shakes the public's trust in the banks solvency, causing a mass withdrawal of specie from the banks reserves, or a rival competitor decides to redeem a vast amount of the respective banks paper notes for specie at once, the bank has the possibility to become insolvent and collapse utterly.
The fact that the author of The Eminence in Shadow shows economic warfare of this type really is brilliant.

The anime simplified/vulgarized the explanation pretty well.
You deposit your money at the bank in exchange for paper.
But the money you deposited doesn't stay dormant at the bank, they invest it again elsewhere.
Hence your 10,000z are both in your hand (paper) and elsewhere (where the bank invested in), meaning there are 20,000z in circulation ... which isn't that drastic in our world economy.
And if for whatever reason, everyone went to the bank to reclaim their money at the same time (because nobody trust the paper money anymore), the bank won't have enough money to exchange.
Fun bit about this arc is getting to spend more time with Delta, Alpha, and Gamma in particular. Plus John Smith and Yukime.
Remember in the first season where it showed all the shadow garden girls in what looked like a modern class room, etc.? I"ve always wondered if that doesn't reflect them visiting earth or something but more represents the fact that with Cid's influence, shadow garden is turning their own world into a duplicate of modern earth....
