As much as Keizaron jokes about anime, he's the answer of the "Guess who's the main character in this shonen anime scene" game, since he's the only one with a crazy-colored non-standard hairstyle xD

This is the kind of marathon I've been looking for! For the whole run there was no downtime in positive energy, laughs or memes. Amazing and fun runner Keizaron, couch and audience, and the vibe was so cozy and relaxed, because nobody was on their toes what could be said and talked about (in contrast to that one unnamed big charity marathon). But in my opinion, biggest shoutout goes to the staff of RPG Limit break, because of the nickname incentive shenanagans, adding the co-op to the run description and in the end adding minutes to the estimate one by one. I'll be absolutely waiting for the next year and I hope to catch it live next time. Keep up the amazing work, this is a prime example of what speedrunning marathon should be about!
"nobody was on their toes about what could be said" Pretty everything that they were saying during this run would be fine on GDQ's channel and vice versa. The marathon staff of both actively work with the other. They have very similar rules for commentary, and Ive run at both.
The thing with RPGs is they're just longer. At GDQ a 25 minute game comes and goes really fast so there's not much to it, at RPGLB you have like 4 hour games, you dont have as much to explain so commentary ends up being a lot more chill and have more room to talk about stuff irrelevant to the run. It helps that Keiz is generally very good at entertaining a crowd. it's why people like the FF7 run at SGDQ. It's also a much smaller room, so it presents a bit more of a homey feel. Just my two cents personally.
@@GhostKumo IDK, I just can't see a modern GDQ meming about anime during a KH1 3 hour marathon. I especially wouldn't expect something like "Oh you're canadian" to not get eyes on them. But I guess that's just my vibe. Maybe the homey feel contributes to this and it helps that I don't have as much exposure to this speedrun marathon.
and I may as well say it now since it's the elephant in the room: Bonesaw was good at entertaining a crowd too. during the graveyard shift, at that.

It's interesting watching this so many years later, hearing keiz comment about Forbidden Memories, yet knowing he becomes a speedrunner of the game.
This was the chillest video I’ve ever watched! Keizaron was so relaxed and just funny, and the energy in the room was just “relaxed”. Very good video and speed run! GG!

Great vibes all around to have an 3+ hours of a game and can laugh and be entertaining is always the best runs even if it flops ✌

That's really funny about Kenya, when I started running this game casually I used Werster's old records as my guides but I'd differ at times and for Rival 3 I accidentally deleted a move I needed to follow Werster's guide. I kept dying on it because of Curse so that's how I started doing it too putting Spearow in front. I don't think you can do it for World Record but that battle is so much easier if you get Surf and fight the Kimono Girls first.

In response to the question about larvitar's dex entry Gold: It feeds on soil. After it has eaten a large mountain, it will fall asleep so it can grow.
Silver: It is born deep underground. It can't emerge until it has entirely consumed the soil around it.
Crysta:l Born deep underground, this Pokémon becomes a pupa after eating enough dirt to make a mountain.

All I did was state the dex entry lol, it eats a large mountain, the shape doesn't matter. Its the whole mountain still

Keizaron is correct, Rage does apply its damage boost differently than FC or Rollout. whats actually actually happening every time "rage is building" is an application of a hidden stage of attack boost. two "building rage" incidents is equivalent to a swords dance, for example.
A 120bp attack at 6+ (x4 base attack) will hit with the same strength as a turn 5 Rollout, (480bp) which shows that roughly, in most situations, (all situations that I'm aware of) multiplying either the attack or the move bp by the same number will result in the same net increase in damage. But attack stages and Rollout have different rates at which they reach their power ceilings, +'s increasing 50% total attack every stage and Rollout increasing base power by twice again its previous bp every turn. Due to this, a theoretical 120bp Rage starts with higher damage than a first turn Rollout, but takes 2 turns longer to reach its maximum damage potential. Sadly, there is no 120bp rage. It sits at a measly 20.
So, finally, here's a small chart, with typing brought into parity to eliminate any typing advantages, of damage outputs at all stages by rollout and rage against a Def+ and natured Shuckle and an HP+ Blissey, as delivered by a max EV Gyarados i.imgur.com/lsXmlq5.png
I would assume base power increase is preferable to attack stage increase when a critical hit occurs.
critical hits only ignore attack stages beneficially in gen 2 and onwards. in reality, which is better is only really a meaningful question when comparing 2 specific moves directly, because efficacy of either kind of stat change on its own is completely dependent on the amount the base power is increasing/the number of attack stages increased.
the only real situations where attack stages become less optimal directly due to the method of their functioning are in rare moments vs power swappers, Pokemon running Punishment, and other things designed to make it tough for setup sweepers.

2:24:00 -ish: I'm not through with this video yet so I dunno if they actually mention what it was they watched, but it was absolutely the KISS transformation sequence that all the members of the band go through in the Scooby Doo/KISS crossover movie. Lemme tell you, it's one hell of an experience just watching it.

Sorry for my ignorance but how do you run Entei? They talk about running Feraligatr or Entei, how do you even do that?
I don't know perfectly, but if it works anything close to similar to HeartGold/SoulSilver they would do a bit of manipulation to spawn the entei somewhere favorable, then move to it in a certain fashion. They use pokemon march on the radio to increase the encounter rate, and repel so that only entei shows up for an encounter. Like we saw in this run, rng manipulation allows them to get the masterball using Kenya's (Spearow) Trainer ID at the goldenrod lottery, guaranteeing them a capture when they encounter entei.

Cinnabar is I believe if not fully almost entirely destroyed in this game due to a volcano

if you want to watch a laid back speedrunning Marathon. I highly suggest NASA_Marathon thats live right now till Monday. They are basically the old GDQ except with no restrictions. However, it isn't a charity event but still fun nonetheless

XxFlaringFoxX I believe so! In PB attempts, runners tend to use 1-character names. They just use unique names during marathons because it's for fun rather than for a PB attempt~
Less frames to load the name, not to mention saving the time taken to type out a specific name. But these are sacrifices made for the sake of donation incentives. (Also short names, at least in gen 1, can let you skip certain jingles when collecting items.)
Even if gen 2 is my least favourite (low level curve of enemys) this run was great and really entertaining :) and hey finally i watched a marathon run that keizaron finished ^^

Thanks for playing the game how it was meant to be played. Too many videos about guys who glitch their way through the game and skip almost all of the story.
Glitches to me are fine as long as it's not to pass up most of the game. I really like the missingno glitch.
