When tough framing for the door opening do you use wood in the studs for mounting the door and use a 2x4 under you metal header or is it all to be without wood around the rough framing

That looks like something a little kid would do. Never, Ever, EVER!!! Use the wrap around tab with metal studs. By being lazy and using the tabs you will be screwing yourself when you go to hang the drywall. Be a Grown-up and figure out another way. I have been installing metal frames for 32 years and would fire a guy on the spot if I saw that! Please remove that instruction from the video.

We agree that bending the ears of the stud anchor onto the face of the stud is less than ideal. As stated in the video, this approach was used to compensate for the special stud location, and the inability to attach the stud to the flange due to the lack of space.
In an ideal situation, the hollow metal frame is set first, then the wall is built to the frame location. In this video, the wall corner was already built, and dis-assembly of the corner would be time consuming, so we showed how to use a stud anchor properly, emphasizing the need to bend the anchor tightly to the frame and securing it with the low-projection screw. Distributors sometimes use this anchoring approach out of preference for the anchor.
We welcome any alternative methods, provided they do not violate any structural properties of the frame, or any building or fire codes.
      Thank you for your feedback.

Rather than criticizing, try offering your solution? What would you do with that stud placement? I am curious. I know plenty of contractors and building inspectors that agree this is acceptable. When adding a door into an existing wall, the wrap around tabs are a great solution to the close stud placement, which you can't always control.
