i like to use two 4-5 foot rips of sheetrock around 10" on both sides of frame, temprorarily to secure the top of frame...just a little trick that helps free up a hand

Very good work
I made door frames for a number of years. It made me laugh when the steps said to always use a grinder to remove welded on spreader bar (which I agree) but some of the people on the recieving end, bitch about how the spreader bars are welded on securely and not lightly tacked on so the carpenters can twist it off... which they dont realize the spreader bars are tacked on pretty well so it doesn't break during transportation or carrying through building, the frame itself is flimsy AF when carrying.
Do you teach how to build the spreaders?
What an arduous, complicated, and expensive process.

Super easy. Remove the clips, back off the spreaders, and pull the bottom of one jamb inwards.

Welded Hollow Metal frames anchor differently in cmu and brick walls. Usually those frames are pre filled with grout and then they anchor with spreader bolts or Similar type anchors that go through the jamb into the wall. 7’ doors usually anchor 4 times on each jamb for a total of 8 anchor points
Leon Corriveau as well as they can come pre drilled and dimpled for anchoring into the CMU it is counter sunk enough to fill with Bondo so that once painted the anchors will be hidden as if they were never there.

sometimes you can get the doors and frames for free on craigslist when they're demolishing a commercial building.
I only picked up 4 last time I saw it. they're really heavy...especially the ones from the Cash Advances places, where bullet resistance is important... :)

If the spreaders are in the door, how is the DE installer going to circulate? Why is not much more practical to install the steel studs, then DW, all to rough dimensions (2 inches more than the exact size of the actual door) and then to build the door frame around the rough opening. Also, hanging the actual door on the door frame while trueing the frame makes for a more rapid installation.
Because what you are suggesting is a 3 piece knock down door jamb, this video shows how to install a 1 piece door jamb. Two very different models, you must install what the customer wants / code suggest, & it is on the blue print.
For the love of hell use a plumb bob to plumb your frames not a level!!
Most of us use laser levels, love a plumb Bob but you'll never see a door installer bust one out

my question is, how can you remove the frame on a steel door?
if you are plan on replacing the steel door frame with a new steel door frame......Start by removing the sheetrock from around (both sides) of the entire door, the it looks like you'll have to remove the stud from at least one side and the top of the door in order to remove the frame. now you can install the new steel frame. But if you are going to replace the steel frame with a wood frame, then simply use a grinder to cut the old steel frame out. careful not to damage the studs in the process..... hope this helps.

This is a great example of how you are supposed to install a metal door frame but fails to show how long before you replace said frame. Yes installation makes sense and is right, but I have to replace these steal frames and doors, because they rust.
It's an installation video. You want to talk to the smarmy salesmen for their pitch, then a few people who have had them installed for years I suppose
