You’re welcome 👍. I’m very glad to have made a video that many fans were expecting. I myself was expecting one, but it never came, so I decided to make one by myself. After all, it’s my favorite song of all time, it didn’t feel right not being able to watch a video made for it, let alone a good one. Hope I made this masterpiece of a song a little justice, it took me more than three months to create it and tried my best to make it emotional for the fans, and I believe the result was worth it. Yo incluso la interpreto como la narrativa de un intento de suic*dio, la letra vendrían siendo los pensamientos de esta persona en ese proceso. Un intento motivado por una traición o por cómo es el mundo ahora. Y un intento que termina siendo exitoso. Porque, como dice la canción, aquí perdonan todo menos la grandeza y, lamentablemente, el amor nunca es gratis. Parte de esa idea está plasmada en el video. Por ej, en el coro dice “ve cómo nuestras vidas se están haciendo” (que para mí simbolizan los recuerdos de toda la vida que vienen a la mente en esos momentos), y esas secciones las edité como si fueran “flashes” de recuerdos (por eso la gradación de colores es más apagada y con más contraste, da sensación de ser pensamientos o recuerdos), con cortes rápidos y literalmente flashes de luz entre las tomas. Una representación visual de “ver toda tu vida pasar frente a tus ojos”. En este caso, la vida de A-ha . O la toma con las carátulas de sus discos (eso fue un homenaje), el hecho de que se aleje y con el cambio que le hice a los colores (sumado a la sección de la música que va ahí), da la sensación de estar alejándose definitivamente de alguien. Idea que se completa con la última toma del video, con la cámara dejando definitivamente al protagonista del video. No en vano el video empieza al revés, con la cámara, y nosotros, entrando a su mente. En cambio en esta última toma, nos vamos para siempre, y él también. De principio a fin del video quise representar esa interpretación mía de la canción, pero sutil para que lo disfrute cualquiera.

I hope a representive of the band sees this and you get some recognition. I have this album on cassette. I was 14 when it was released. I vividly remember playing it on my Walkman while doing my "paper round". If I'm honest, I didn't really "get" (as in understand) the album until I was a couple of years older with - (What I believed was) a broken heart. I'm 49 now and this album gets played regularly. Best tracks.... This The Swing Of Things I've Been Losing You Weight Of The Wind Soft Rains Of April ^ The soundtrack to my youth. WHAT an opening track. WHAT a voice that man has. Peter Pan. He has barely aged in 35 years!

It took quite an effort, and I think they would appreciate it (I still don’t understand why this song wasn’t a single and never got an official video). As per your favorite songs of the album, they are exactly the same as mine. But there are times when I prefer Manhattan Skyline over Soft Rains of April, depends on the mood. The rest are always there on my top, being Scoundrel Days my favorite one (my favorite song of all time, in fact).

But being this song my favorite song, I really put a lot of effort into this video, and I think this is the best I can achieve with what I know now. I am struggling to understand why Scoundrel Days was never released as a single. Due to the lyrics, which are clearly a narrative, it was screaming out for a state of the art music video to be made for it. Maybe the three singles released from the album helped sell enough copies, who knows. That said, You've done a great job here creating a very clever video for many a-ha fans to enjoy. Keep up the great work.

Maybe because other songs from this album could be considered more popular (like i’ve been losing you, Manhattan Skyline, etc). That’s why I decided to make this video by myself, even if it took me months (which it did). After all, it’s my favorite song and I never found a good video, and wanted to see one while listening to it. I made it for myself, but decided to share it with other A-ha fans arround the globe. Yeah, and in my opinion, the best song from the band, and my personal favorite (of all songs of all time). I had to make this video, I didn’t like the idea of listening to this masterpiece and never been able to see a video that goes along well with it (and a video with heart). It should have been the first videoclip single from the 2nd album. It is the antithesys of take on me. Both begin in B minor with a fast synth riff which play nearly the same notes. But scoundrel days is dark and scary where take on me was naïve and joyful. Same instrumentation, opposite feelings. Perfect theme to open the suite... But no, they did not make it. Was this those warner company men dumb choices ??(they made a song about them in Major earth)
I agree, Scoundrel Days and Take on Me are perfect opening tracks, with very different vibes despite their musical similarities. Take on Me became a hit mostly because of its video, so I still don’t get why they didn’t make an equally good video for Scoundrel Days. They could even have used the same rotoscope technique, but to tell a darker story. If they had made it and became a hit, A-ha would now have perhaps the greatest opening track videos of all time under its belt. I really don’t get it. Anyway, that was the main reason I had to almost burn my eyes looking at the screen for three months while making this video. It’s my favorite song and not just from A-ha, it wasn’t acceptable for me to not see a good video for it one day. And since I decided to make it, I did it the best I could. There’s not a single shot that wasn’t modified (color balance, effects, 3D animation for a couple of shots, etc), and now I think it was worth the effort. This song deserved a lot better than the recognition it got. I hope this video reaches people that haven’t listened to it, it’s a real masterpiece and, at least to me, one of the greatest opening tracks of all time.

It was released as a single, I remember the first time I heard it on the radio and I have the cassette tape and disc.
It was never released as a single in UK or rest of world.
The Swing of things was another great track that was underrated.
