I got this for my girlfriend who is a PhD student and one for myself, I work in medical billing. These are amazing! Highly recommended even if you just scribble notes. No paper. No mess. No worries!
I agree. I used them primarily in my Post-Doc while consulting with surgeons on instrument design. They are simple and clean, and unlike tablet-based apps I'm comfortable taking them into patient meetings because they have no cameras.

The order is whatever order you scan in. Not based on page numbers, so you shouldn't just scan randomly. But at the same time that means your notes don't have to always be in order either.

I've had my Rocketbook Everlast for quite a while now & frankly it got lost in my home office because I never use it. I found it a couple of days ago & had completely forgotten how to use it. Not only was this video a great refresher, your idea of using a permanent marker to create a weekly agenda page is brilliant!
I'm glad to hear that you've re-discovered it! I had a similar thing happen to me leading up to making this video, but since getting back into it and adapting it to me - I've kept it up. I have a whole playlist of 'Everything Rocketbook' that you may also find of interest. Also, my plan for next month is to try using a printer to more accurately print the templates onto the Rocketbook pages directly... So if custom templates interest you, stay tuned!

Great review, very helpful pros and cons about Rocketbook. Glad you took the time out to do this. A little confusing (replayed a few times) on explaining the suggestion to prevent/reduce smudges- don't use folded mode. I finally understood to open and lay both pages flat, commence writing on left page first until filled. Second, leave left page alone to dry and commence writing on the right page since it takes around 15 seconds or so for the ink to dry. The con here is that most people would prefer to write in folded mode (not fully laid out mode).Thank you for the review, and keep up the great work.

I recently discovered the Rocketbook and really liking it. My biggest wish is that they will sell versions to fit the disc binding. That will make it easier to mix, match, reorder, and organize.

I’m a lefty, and a lefty who has become used to the slight inconvenience of spiral notebooks (I’ve had to use many in my time), but one solution I found to the spiral problem is to simply write on the notebook sideways. When you scan, the app has a rotate option. It’s a few more taps than writing vertical, but to me that sure can beat the slight discomfort of a spiral pressing against your wrist if you aren’t used to it.
By the way, I really like this video and your content. I’m trying to declutter and save more trees, and recently got my own Everlast. Best desicion I ever made.

The pens can be a little on the high price, but you can get refill cartridges through Amazon, which will bring the cost down and reduce the amount of plastic being thrown away.
Agreed, I always recommend people buy the replacement cartridges instead of pens 👍

I use this for writing down guitar tabs when learning songs for when I'm focusing on a certain part of the song. It's good.

I got the spiral on the top I recommend that one for lefties it's nice they thought of us left handed users
tried several OCR packages, nothing's able to make sense of my writing.
Then again, neither are most humans, including sometimes myself some months later.

It's a tough call since the ink is so wet initially... Unless you're ok with writing upside down, sacrificing the search feature and inverting the pdf after imported

I have the A4 one in red it’s really good but the only problem is it smudged if you don’t leave it long enough!

I agree with you about needing to be sure you make a template of what you would like to create in permanent marker. I didn't do this and made a little mistake, which messed up the calendar agenda I created. Now, I just saw (12.8.2021) the "Everyday Planner" Rocketbook. I hope to get it and stop having to purchase a new planner every year. Thanks.

Instead of making your own weekly planner page, you should get the Rocketbook Fusion, that already comes with permanent templates

I'm glad you enjoyed the review, I have plenty of other Rocketbook videos as well that you may like. Rocketbook just came out with a top-bound flip version of the letter and executive sized notebooks as well, which would be better for lefties. But unfortunately the smudging is still an issue depending on your writing style.

The video is good. I could never get used to having to write with the substandard pen that is required for the notebook. If they changed it to enable other pens it might worth trying again.
I'm working on a video right now testing all of the Pilot FriXion options, but I understand what you are saying. The pen definitely takes a bit of getting used to if, like me, you are traditionally a ballpoint ink guy moreso than a gel pen guy.
Fusion series has several templates built in. I think I’m going to invest in one.

I have 3 of these. They are great. Get a Grafton aluminum pen so you look more professional using a metal pen and not a janky frixon one. They can take the frixon ink cartridges. I have one and like it. You lose the eraser, but it's no loss to me.

What about the Remarkable 2? You wouldn't need water to erase. There are multiple eraser functions; erase free form, erase selected area, and erase all... you can even use the eraser end of the stylus to erase just like a pencil!

This sounds like something i could use ... i'm a genealogist and take lots of notes pertaining to persons i'm researching. What i need to know is can your notes be uploaded to your personal computer or laptop for organizing large family files. Having a reusable notepad would be great if it can keep me organized. Thanks.
Sounds neat. You can't send them directly to your computer, but you can send them to cloud storage systems like Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, etc. which you can sync to your computer. So, in effect, it can achieve what you want. I have a whole video about the different destinations that you may find helpful 👍 it's in my Everything Rocketbook Playlist ✌

I love that you can make it your own using a permanent marker (I still do this all the time). Currently, I’m using their newest, hardcover, Rocketbook Pro (formerly: Axis). I just bought the flip version 8 1/2 x11 because I am lefty and didn’t want the spiral to interfere. It will definitely be a learning curve , however, with you video’s and experience I hope to use the Rocketbook to get and keep organized

I love your review for its thorough coverage and unwasted words, well done! My hope was to find someone who addressed a claim I ran across about having left one of these in a car and heat erasing all the notes. Do you know if that’s a problem with these or if it’s another one of those unfounded complaints?
Thanks! I try to get to the point in my reviews, so I’m glad you like that 👍 Yes, that is a concern. The ink you have to use is Pilots FriXion erasable ink. It is thermosensitive though (disappears when heated and reappears when cooled) - so I don’t recommend leaving notes in a hot car. You can try freezing the notes to bring back the ink, but I’ve heard mixed reviews regarding how well this works.

As long as the pages are plastic, you can try denatured alcohol or rubbing alcohol to remove permanent marker

It says the pages are made of synthetic polyester not plastic. Then again I just received this today as a gift from my daughter, and being over 60 years old, and not really competent to respond to the comment, perhaps I should have kept quiet.
this seems great. only downside I see is NSA will have everything more and then some : )

I've got one of these and wound up going back to paper notebooks. The smudging always bothered me and the paper always felt too smooth, not papery enough. The icons on the bottom of the page were always super helpful though
The smudging does take some getting used to for sure

Very good review, I'm also in that sort of quest. Just one minor quabble: don't use the BS "for the environment" alibi. We all know that the carbon footprint for production, and life cycle, of those machines exceeds paper-based note-taking. (notebook paper is part from recycled paper, part from renewable forests; and it's actually good for the environment. Chinese-produced high tech is another story).

If you use permanent marker are you able to clean it off with alcohol? Or does it effect the quality of the pages?
I've heard people have operated success cleaning accidental permanent marker stains with alcohol, but generally you should avoid alcohol on the surfaces because the page coating is vulnerable to damage.

Really nice review and you almost got me.. but I'm a lefty and i need to do a lot of in script writing. Guess i have to stick to the iPad, although a more paper like feel would be nice to have
Ya, you have to make sure it will work with your needs! Could always flip the book upside down to use the pages in an easier orientation, then flip the pdf in post, but I suspect that would alter the word recognition in the app.

You might want to consider reMarkable. I purchased it a few weeks ago and love it. It is an eink device that comes very close to feeling like paper. You can write on it and upload PDF docs
