thanks for this video. its great to see finally someone doing the step by step and not just cutting (usually) the most important parts. you even explained every step. I have Vaillant boiler that has 3 - 4 - 5 terminals both on boiler and current termostat (its Vaillant VRT 230) from which the 3 and 5 are line and neutral, and the 4th is basically the switch wire. So If I understand right in that situation I would just need to connect like you did use current wires for line and neutral, and then my switch wire from terminal 4 I can use as you used a gray wire in heat link (think its in number 3 terminal in google nest heat link). thanks again for detailed video
yeah, it's easy enough to skip over bits you understand, but I hate it when people skip supposedly simple bits - I'm usually stuck on something that's obvious to an experienced person
Many thanks for the tuition, I have had a Nest for over 12 months!! Yesterday was the first time the water worked independently to the heating! Yes I know I should have got a qualified all singing all dancing Nest engineer to fit it……but I didn’t and after this informative video it’s all working how it should be! Cheers 👍🏾
Just want to say thank you so much for this video. We had a new boiler fitted with a new nest, sadly the nest was not turning the boiler on and off as it should after watching your video and checking the wiring I spotted that the fitter forgot to remove the red loop that was inside the boiler. Problem solved! We are over the moon 💪🏼
Thanks for the video. My ecotec plus handles both heating and warm water. Does that change anything to the installation? As it seems you only use it for heating, right?
Thank you very much for this video, incredibly useful. I have a vaillant ecotec pro 24, and a nest thermostat 3rd gen. The one thing I did differently was not to remove the u shaped wire link on "Burner off" connector. It then worked like a charm. I must say, am not sure I understand why
Have a Nest and want to link it up to a Vaillant eco tech 635 system boiler but already have a Honeywell board installed with loads of wires so don't know where to start. Could get someone to do it but i love to do these kinds of jobs myself and learn along the way.
Great video thanks! I need a smart thermostat just for hydronic floor heating. The Nest has fan and cooling options which I would not use, any other simpler alternatives? Also each floor has 7 circuits so I would need to fit 14 connect modules which sounds to be an overkill tbh. Where did you order the nest from?
Always thought it's weird the way you need to use a jumper on the box. Just seems a strange design. Or is it wired differently in other countries / different set ups?
Hi Pal, your video is great. Thank you. Can you tell me how to wire vaillant ecotec pro 24 boiler to Nest 3rd generation Heatlink via Opentherm. Thank you
I have a Zaegel Held boiler, it heats the tap water and the heating system, i still don't know how to wire the heat link, did you have this type of combi boiler ?
Do you also heat your normal tap water with the boiler? I have the same and still don't know how to wire the heatlink.. I'm changing the current thermostat.
@@advancedboilertraining I have the same boiler.. (EcoTec Pro) but an older thermostat already installed, so do I need to 'De-bridge' the 24v DC clamp? for it to work?
Very nice video. Is there any chance that you create video about connecting Nest Gen.3 with Opentherm Module VR33 and Vaillant Eco Tec Plus Boiler? Please...
Hey. Long time no see bro. Good to see an upload. Very informative video again. What make is the electrical screwdriver set in the velcro pack btw. Looks really useful.
It’s a draper screwdriver set. If you go on eBay you can get it for about £35. I literally use it everyday. I always end up buying new sets because I end up loosing some pieces 😂
@@advancedboilertraining Thanks for your reply. I've come across something that is different in our boiler. Their are 3 plugs that say, "Burner Off", "24v RT" and "BUS" the first two have jumper cable in them. Do I leave these alone. As I read somewhere that one of these jumpers have to be removed. Many thanks for any help you have.
I got it done by a professional eventually. Took hím over 1 hour so wasn't a DIY-job for me. But works like a charm. My advise? Hire a pro@@erwinmakan4812

I have exactly the same boiler and same nest thermostat, installing this way dosnt seem to work, it appears to look at first however once I remove the 24v rt bridge the boiler defaults to 50 degrees flow temperature no adjustable (d005) even through flow temp is set higher (d071) anyone got a solution to this?** found out what the problem was, the old vaillant thermostat base station was the cause of 50 max flow temp, removed it and this setup was spot on**
It says dont compatible if the wire has that shape like hair like thin and many. But u connected with no problem? Why do they say that it s not compatible then
Shouldn’t be cutting out earth wires, also could have been wired without a link in the heat link. Honestly don’t think heating engineers should be allowed to wire boilers.
Love viewing how other engineers operate.
Your a good man bro for taking the time to film and upload. 👊🏾

Great video have you installed an Centre thermostat. Where on the boiler would you instal the T1 and T2 cable.
Great video and explanation as usual from you
Hey thank you for your video! I see I don't have an RT (switch) connection plug in my Vaillant. Does that mean the Nest is not compatible?
Thank you

Can I also control the hot water with this boiler and Nest V3?
Brilliant video, exactly what I needed. Thanks. 👍🏻
How was you able to wire the nest stat from t1 & t2 of the heat link ??. The stat needs 12v dc and I presume that the heat link end outputs 240 v.
Always thought it's weird the way you need to use a jumper on the box.
Just seems a strange design. Or is it wired differently in other countries / different set ups?
Good job 👌 thanks for your efforts 👍👍

Cheers mate, I got the link in the wrong place first time! Ha
for the rt do you take the original one out? Or do you put them both in
Hi Pal, your video is great. Thank you. Can you tell me how to wire vaillant ecotec pro 24 boiler to Nest 3rd generation Heatlink via Opentherm. Thank you
I need this too. I am desperate.
Where did you buy the cable stripper?, great video, thanks
Google Knipex Ergostrip.
Bloomin great for sparkies.

If you have a Combi boiler then you don’t need to do any wiring for the hot water. All you have to do is open the tap and you’ll have hot water

@@advancedboilertraining nice one. Thanks for the quick reply. I like that it has 2 slightly different handles.
Great video pal, just started following, like nest but really like hive due to expandability 👌🏼
Nice vid bro! What wiring block did you use for N.L.E terminal
It’s just the normal Vaillant block that comes with the boiler. I had a spare one in my van but for some reason this boiler didn’t have it
Great video! Very detailed and helpful. Quick question, what size mm wire are you using in the video? Thanks!
Cheers, excellent video. Do yo know if its the same for a Valiant EcoTec Plus 630 ?

Thanks for the video. My Vaillant doesn't have that RT plug (other than that it's identical). Does that make the Nest Incompatible?

why does my boiler does not have a RT plugin... :'(
I'm missing an RT connection on the circuit board. Any suggestions which setup to run then?
If no RT, use HiVoltage system

Shouldn’t be cutting out earth wires, also could have been wired without a link in the heat link. Honestly don’t think heating engineers should be allowed to wire boilers.
Thanks for your post . He confused me on this. There seems to be an earth termination point on the back of the nest
No we should all call you get out the guy video tosser, go make your own show how it’s done
Wouldn’t let most electricians near heating wiring as well
so complicated...
Bad filming. Camera moves too much.
