    I recently watched this for the first time in well over 10 years, and what really stood out to me was kurtwood smith as the villain. They just dont have great, non sympathetic villains like that in movies anymore.

      Yeah, the villain you love to hate. As I explain in the review a big part of that is the innate personality of certain actors. Kurtwood is so damn good in his role as Boddicker and likable despite being such a scumbag because he himself is a man with an amicable personality. There's something already about him with the way he carries himself that makes you able to still enjoy being around him despite how shitty of a person his character is. With this kind of villain, the actor is the most important thing.
      If you don't have the right actor who already has that charisma that draws you to them despite how awful their character is? The character just winds up being awful and unlikeable. It's a fine balance between actor and role that is missing one of the most important factors as of late. The right actor. They just throw in actors to play these shitty people who are shitty fits for the role.

    Still Awesome and simply the best Sci-fi Action Movie Ever Made! Also, my favorite of the "RoboCop" franchise! Plus, a very awesome Blu-ray set from Arrow!

    This movie is still fucking awesome, and definitely one of my favorite movies from the 80's along with the 1988 remake of The Blob.

    Great movie! i saw this in theaters when i was 5 in St Louis when i lived St Louis and saw it with my parents and 12 year old big brother and we loved it and been one of my fave movies. I had some toys, comics, played the games on NES and arcade, watched the cartoon on sunday mornings and all that.
    I bought the 2-disc LE Arrow Blu and even hang up the poster on my living room wall being the iconic movie poster.

    It's just sad that the 1980s and the 1990s were the last great era for movies like this. Its just this family crap nowadays. Can't wait to see your Robocop 2 review Mike.

      Not true, we do have some awesome action films now like Mission Impossible 5 and 6, John Wick trilogy, Dredd, Raid 1 and 2 and more.

    I think Robocop's humor is so close to tomorrows reality with it's Yamaha Artificial Hearts, accidental laser firings from satellites, the luxurious gas gussling 6000 SUX, etc. We laugh at it all, yet feel it's not THAT far fetched. And Robocop is the technical superhero in a city, if not country of broken spirits. Even today, I laugh how the DC/Marvel movies are so mass consumed - yet, we're all anticipating A.I. to make life better still.
    So Robocop was WAY ahead of it's time, and think will always be. BUT - I'm sticking with my Criterion version for now still. :)

    Would RoboCop be your favorite film ever or are there any other all time favorites you like over it?

    • @OcpCommunications
      @OcpCommunications  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't really have a favorite film ever. There are too many films I really love for there to be only one. But it is definitely high up on my list.

    What can I say? An all time action classic followed by an underrated sequel. The third I know you and Matt didn't like but for me I thought it was a timewaster at best.
    Proudly own the entire trilogy on blu-ray. ^_^

    I know Lance Henrikson was considered for the lead and I can see him pulling it off and I can also see Robert Patrick nailing the role as well but IMO he's better at playing villians like the fake cop in T2.

      If they do it probably won't be a US release because SF already released Robo 2 in the states.

      I am fine with Scream Factory's release to be honest. If Arrow does get it the new features will be minimal and the transfer will more than likely be the same.
