This man truly suffered over the past ten years or so. Poor health and finances and the loss of dear friends. Rest in peace Burt and thank you for the gift of your movies.
he sure didn't leave a penny left for the irs, so he came to this world with nothing and left with nothing, and that's how we all should do it. No money to the irs!
@@shedmanx3640 Yeah, he really made the Trans AM a household name. He possibly helped sale more Trans AM than any TV commercial. The Car company promised Burt a new Trans Am for life. He only got 6 and then they reniqued on their promise. Burt could have sued, but just excepted it. Burt Reynolds and Trans Am . They just go together. Thanks for the reply
I came up from from fla in the summer of 76 at the age of 16 and missed my chance at being with my aunt at the time they where filming parts of the movie there at the area of her home at Fitzgerald and Mundies mill lake. But the story of what she told me of what and what happened that hot summer was something. The time of filming there, she had no problem of having the filming crew and some of the actors to come to her shaded porch to cool off and have some lemonade. She said that Jackie Gleason looked like he was fixing to drop ha ha. Was also told that her daughter “my cousin “ was watching from the distance from the side of the lake during the filming of lake shot where the police car hit the water in the lake and with all the crowd of people “women” trying to get to Burt he saw my cousin to the other side of the lake by herself watching the filming went to her and ended up going out to dinner in the “Trans Am” thought that was pretty cool. R. I. P. Burt, my cousin Jackie, and my aunt Sarah Waldrop. ......
Lots of people don't know but Burt was in a lot of pain most of his life due to all the stunts he did himself. No more pain for Burt just open highways and no speed limits. Thanks for the memories Burt.
40 years later it's still a great looking car. Roll it off the showroom floor right now I think sales would be record-breaking. Thank you Burt Reynolds and rest in peace.
Hell, you are talking to a man who when he was a boy, saw Smokey and the Bandit 27 times in a row, saw it at 10am and left at midnight. Paid every time, just came out the theatre, paid at the box office and went and sat back down. He taught me how to drive just watching his movies taught me how. God bless thatam
Along with Richard Petty and Evel Knievel Burt was And Is one of my Childhood Hero's . . I first saw Burt in the '73 movie 'White Lightning' And have admired him ever since ...RIP and God Speed the SnowMan and the Bandit are together again ....
My first car was a 77 Trans Am, because l saw the movie when l was a kid. Believe it when people say that Burt was a kind funny soul. He is now with his friends. He was one of the few good ones. RIP. Blocker
I grew up in Jupiter Fl, lived near his ranch and was in the area when He and Loni got married. Parts of Bandit two were filmed in jupiter, the semi and cop cars were parked down the street from me in a shopping center, I'm 50 so I was a kid when all this happened. I was very saddened when I found out he passed. He will always be a legend...
I've always been a musclecar fanatic since a kid, mostly Olds 442s, but the Firebirds and Trans Ams I've always have had a soft spot for as well, I was 7 when Smokey and the Bandit came out in 1977, and my mom took my best buddy and I to go see it, I've ridden in many T/As over the years, buddies that owned them in hs, driven them as well, only two men made these cars as famous as they come and that was James Garner and Burt Reynolds, rest in peace to both those Hollywood greats, both genuine men.
One of the few that has ever driven one of the greatest muscle machine car on the street.RIP Burt. You will always be remembered Smokey and the Bandit.❤
NHseacoast They did - they bankrolled a chunk of the movies by supplying the cars for free as product placement. That allowed the movies to be made within budget etc
Jeff King Thanks Jeff, I’m talking about the after effect.. GM selling how many 10’s or hundreds of thousands of theses cars due to the fact that Burt Reynolds made them cool to buy and own. Millions of dollar$$$. I did hear somewhere that GM gave Reynolds Trans Ams for years , urban myth?
NHseacoast I think it is mostly true - I heard that in an interview with Burt on one of those rebuild shows that Pontiac gave him a new TA every year until 1990. Btw, thanks for being so mature in your reply!
RIP Burt. I loved his stories. He had the gift of gab & a great sense of humor. My best friend in college had the gold 1978 t-top Trans Am. We had so much fun!
may burt rest in peace. great guy great actor i loved most of his movies i shed a tear for him the day he passed and i will always have fond memories of him
Love it how Burt casually says "bye.." and proceeds to light up the tires.. What a legend of a man. Number 1 reason I bought my 80 Black on Black WS6 T/A when I was 20, still have it now 30 years later.
One of the movies that got me into Firebirds along with the Rockford Files. I have owned my '75 Firebird/Trans Am clone since '97. And will keep her as pure and as Pontiac as possible. And pretty much all original equipment. No LEDs or aftermarket gauges for me. I will also keep my 15" Cragar Super Sport steel wheels. 15 x10 in the rear and 15 x 8 in the front. God be with you Mr. Burt Reynolds. You will be sorely missed.
The last time I saw him in 2017 I told him that the 70's and 80's were really good to me on account of him, he smiled and said "me too partner, me too"! God rest his soul.
Got to meet him a few times back in the 80's when he use to go to boxing fights with Phil Alessi when I work there at Phil's place, the both would come by and say hello to everyone also party a with him and Marla Maples at the old Malios on Dale Mabry in Tampa. What a great person to talk to. RIP
I got own one of these 1977 Trans Ams, it was the most fun car to drive, nothing after came close. I miss Burt , he was someone who can not ever be replaced. Rest in peace Bandit.
Just to mention it ,I delivered Princes Margarets Rolls Royce to his ranch in west palm beach. Funny he wasn't there but at the end of his property is a real cool restaurant so i stopped in for lunch and yep he was there.fun meeting.
In 1978 , when I was 26 yo , I ordered a gold special edition trans am . I ordered with the TA engine , close ratio 4 speed , t-tops , 8" wide rims . The TA engine was built by pontiac and had 225hp ,the stock 6.6 was oldsmobile 403 ci and had 185 hp . 1978 was the last year that pontiac built a V8 , although there was some TA engines leftover for sale in the 1979 Trans Ams . The car was fun , but at over 4000# took a load of fuel . I think I paid about $7300. .

John D yes I want a trans am SOOO BAD AFTER WATCHING THAT MOVIE🙂
