EVERYONE watching this video has the same problem you do! I have seed packets from two years ago. I haven’t even opened, but I’m still ordering more. My Baker seed order for this year is already $200.
The best tomato sauce we've ever put up were Cherokee Purple, Thornburn's Terra Cotta, and Cherokee Carbon slicers combined with Orange Oxheart tomatoes. The Jersey Devil Paste and Oxheart Pole tomatoes are great producing paste tomatoes for us too.
My fav tomato for the past two years have been the Paul Robeson. I tend to just order from Migardener once a year. Ordering 10 seeds will give you free shipping so you’re literally only paying 20$!
Thanks for sharing and welcome to the club! Seed math is like chicken math. No one knows how many is enough. I went through my seeds last month and put all the seeds from 2021 or before in 6 - 32oz olive jars separating the vegetable seeds from the herb and flower seeds; then, I took 1 jar of the herb/flower seeds and sprinkled them over my front flower bed. After the purge, I was left with 7 photo boxes - which hold 16 individual photo boxes each - packed full of seeds from 2022 to now (except for the 6 seed orders I just made). Yep. No one knows how many will be enough.
Growing herbs is a great idea. So many of them are perennial - once you get thyme, oregano, chives and sage established, they will keep coming back and you won't have to buy any more new seeds and plants. In Georgia, you can pretty much count in rosemary being perennial too (I wish I could here in Ohio). As far as tomatoes go, Paul Robeson has become one of my favorite slicers. Last year I tried Dr. Wyche's Yellow for the first time, and it grew huge, tasty yellow tomatoes - some weighed more than a pound. I also grow a lot of paste tomatoes, because I like to make fresh sauce and freeze supplies for the winter and spring. My go-to paste tomato has been Pomodoro Squisito, but I'm looking for heirloom/open pollinated varieties to rival it. I tried Opalka but didn't care for the taste and quality of the fruit (though it was very productive). Hungarian Heart was a good choice for size and flavor, but not as productive. This year, I'm going to try Jersey Devil and Blue Beech along with Hungarian Heart seeds I saved.
MIGardeners Sweetie cherry tomatoes are my faves atm. They were so prolific and didn't quit for well into fall (7a.) Were very tasty until very end of season when cooler weather hit. 2024. I'm relatively new to geowing veg and hadn't had great luck with tomatoes as a rule, but that variety has been the most successful for me so far.
Fantastic haul. I buy seeds from MIGARDENER, Homestead Heart, and Dollar Tree. I'm going to check out Baker Creek and a few other seed stores too this year. 😊
My husband and I love Rosella cherry tomatoes. They're a red/black cherry that has amazing flavor and good production in addition to being really pretty. Sun Gold and sun sugar have great flavor. Cherokee purple, as you mentioned, is amazing, and so is Marbonne, an F1 that's an improvement on a famous French heirloom, and Marnero is a black slicer that's a sister to Marbonne. So good! Great video. I love talking seeds in January, helps us get through the cold winter months! Happy sowing!
Hello Gardner! See you got the seed fever 😅. I have that same catalog from bakers creek but have not placed my ordered. I went thru the book 📕 like a kid 2 months b4 Christmas 🎄 making my wish list. We still have a ton of seeds left over from last year. Glad to know what’s your favorite and what works for you.
Terroir Seeds, Territory Seeds, Botanical Interests, Seeds 'n Such, Nikitovka, Strictly Medicinal, and in bulk as sprouting or microgreen seeds through Walmart to get tons of seeds for cheap. I buy from Baker Creek most often and I think I have all of Migardener's stock. I give out homemade seed packets as prizes in my classroom, so not wasting my excess. ❤ love seeds! Have you grown Motherland okra, yet? I bought the seeds a while back, but forgot to plant them! I love fried okra, yum! Growing them up here in the PNW, mine have been on the smaller and less prolific side....but the flowers are like hibiscus 🌺 so lovely! You have good taste in seeds! You showed most of my favorites!
Thanks for sharing. You are not alone. I have a small gardening space and I am trying to grow too many varieties! My tomato grow list for 2025: Micro-Dwarfs: Betimes MacBeth Fat Frog Groovy Tunes Red Robin Rosy Finch Tartufo Tiny Totem Inkspot Dwarfs: Adelaide Festival Kookaburra Cackle Loxton Lad Purple Reign Rosella Purple Russian Swirl Wild Fred
I grow a mix of tomatoes. 1 cherry, 1 slicer, and 5 Roma. Is the base. I add more depending on how much space and what looks good when start seeds. I use them exclusively to make stewed tomatoes for chili. It is the best!🎉
We are concentrating on herbs 2025 also. We like lemon thyme for chicken and for tea. If you like lemon basil, lemon thyme might be another one you like.We like lemon basil and lime basil for tea also.
I too have a seed buying problem. Homegrown does taste much better. I enjoyed seeing what you have. I’m interested in some of the varieties you purchased. Thanks for sharing.
Thorburns Terracotta have done really well for me in Washington state zone 8. I first got the seeds from Baker Creek as a free gift, but I ordered more. I even got some that self seeded. ❤❤❤ New subscriber and fellow seed hoarder!
hi farmer marshall 🤗 new subscriber. found your channel on a search for seed haul videos. there is no such thing as having too many seeds. i placed my 2025 migardener order in november, I just picked up some corn seeds from dollar tree, my baker creek catalog is starred and highlighted for my next order and i still need to make the rounds at my big box orange and blue stores. a couple local spots have seed libraries where i donate and swap.. plus, i save seeds (not so much last year though). i also shop from etsy sellers and yt gardener online stores. yes, home garden produce tastes so much better than store-bought. im in southern california, zone 10b/11b and am doing something gardening related year-round in buckets, planter pots, vertical planters and mini raised beds. i have a pack of 2014 seeds that im going to sow and will also try my hand at stevia seeds this year. i don't have a greenhouse and do everything outside in my small backyard, but it all works out. tfs
Lmaooooooo I bought over 50 packs at Dollar Tree.😂 And the coco coir is an awesome deal, too. 4 packs is the same prize as HomeDepot but in smaller sizes, which makes it easier to use. And they restocked the plant labels too!!
im doing indeterminate and determinates in one bed like 3 determinate one indeterminate my favorite cherry is sunrise bumblebee and pinolo de velvusa(bakers creek has the pinolo) same thing its a paste cherry tomato good pasty flavor and can be set on the counter for a looong time and have more of a bush indeterminate style so if you dont have a ton of space you can use them for both sauce and to eat
Tigger melons smell sweeter than they actually taste. Just be aware that they are prolific and they fall off the vine when they are ripe. I grew them last summer (7a zone)
Jicama (hick-ah-muh) are crunchy and yummy. I like a little lime squeezed over it sliced up into stick shapes. We have very similar seed interests and seed buying amnesia 😂 I say the same thing about forgetting what I ordered in almost all my seed hauls. 😊
I support you in curating a variety of options. This might sound like enabling but it's support! I'm TRYING to be good but I bought a few from Lowes, I got a few in a discount so I got $10 worth for only shipping. But I went on MI-Gardener and favorited 90 items and they don't even have all the items I really wanted this year. And to top it... I'm waiting for February for the sale one of our garden store does and the Baker Creek catalog to arrive. 🤦🏻
I just hope I don't run out of space to plant everything...but I'm thinking about expanding my garden. Seed shopping is best done over & over. I just pre-ordered 3 seed potato varieties from MIgardener. Thanks for your support!

@jody I thought i had a handle on my seed buying, and then I discovered dollar tree sales seeds, 4 packs for $1.25. 😂😂😂

Are you seedaholic? I can’t blame you ,You are ready for spring best tasting vegetables out of your garden 😮😅😊
I have that "seed fever"! Using seeds is the best way to get more variety. Thanks for watching!
Also, Shishito peppers. They produce abundantly, and blistered and dipped in aoli or sauce of choice…delish!
Good suggestion! I've heard of those. Never had a pepper that I didn't like. Thanks for watching!
I love Shishito peppers! I am adding Ise, Padrón, Fushimi, Manganji Togarashi and VSRP Poblano peppers to my garden this year.
My favorite and it produces so well

That's the best way describe it..."seed fever". You're right that Baker Creek catalog is like the old Sears Christmas catalog. Thanks for watching!

Black from Tula and Wisconsin 55 are my current favorites. I am growing a dwarf Cherokee purple mix and some Paul Robeson this Summer.
Informative haul! Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Never too many. We have to keep sowing and growing our food

I love the Cherokee purple & grow them every year, even though they don’t produce a lot for me. My fav to make a sandwich out of.

Thanks for watching! I'm happy you found me! I'll be planting seeds soon!
@ me too! I’m in Oregon so I have to wait a bit for the weather dry out and warm up. Happy planting!
Turkey Creek from Lazy Dog Farm. It’s a big beefsteak Heirloom. Absolutely delicious.
Lazy Dog Farm is great. I'm thinking about getting some figs cuttings from them. I'll check out his seeds. Thanks for watching!
Your not alone. I have the same problem.😂
One of my favorite tomato is Ponderosa pink
Sweet 100 cherry tomatoes were so prolific for me last garden season (2024).
Yes, they almost give too many tomatoes but I'm learning how to make sauce out of them.

Taste clean and raw okra is delicious to me
Don’t feel bad, I been ordering plus picking up seeds packs that have been in store now for spring.
I'm just happy to have seeds instead of buying starts. They are so expensive now. Happy growing!
Yellow pear is an inderterminate very prolific
Yes, I saw them on MIgardener's site. I've grown a similar red variety...very prolific! Thanks for watching!
Where are you located? Do you have squash vine bore and or squash bugs? If so how do you deal with them?

I grew up in Chicago! Southside!!!
Try glass corn
Purple cherokee is the best tomato
I don't understand the title!! What are too many seeds? Is that a thing?😂
