2013 Ford Focus Problem with Parking Sensors

  • This is my 2013 Ford Focus Titanium with only 1271 miles on it. Sometimes it will emit a solid beep tone inside the car when nothing is around the sensors... This problem is intermittent and difficult to recreate and it seems to occur more often in stop and go traffic but it can happen anytime. My dealership has been unable to fix it but Ford technical service is working with them to hopefully come up with a solution soon.

parking while facing up hill - when put into park, the car will seem like its positioned ok, but a few seconds later it'll let itself go and roll back a few inches and quickly lock... but doing so will rock the crap out of the car.
Stopping quickly, then going - sometimes it'll go right away, others it'll do nothing when you step on the gas (cause its still down shifting). It'll leave you looking left to check traffic then to the dash to figure out why its not moving after you gassed it.

The sensors are on by default when the car turns on. When they start to beep like that, I turn them off but it's annoying and a bit embarrassing to have to do that every time.

@@slatterjack after going sometimes to ford, in the last service (3 years) they say that had been able to reproduce the problem when the car was at sun, waiting to be washed. As far as i know the flashed all the modules again with latest versions, and said to i give it a try. After some weeks the problema appeared again. Tried not to think about it anymore - maybe sometime i try to buy a sensor and replace it to see it gets better (if it's that one). I've get so many excuses, and one of the last is that seems to be a tiny scratch in the sensor....

@@edgardurao589 Thanks for the response. I just ran into the sensor problem yesterday. If I can’t fix it by cleaning it or getting water/moisture out of it, I’ll buy four new sensors for the car. I live in a area which gets a lot of snow and pretty much all of my family and friends vehicles run into issues due to winter. How is your Ford Focus doing? Any issues I should be prepared for if it happens to mine?

@@slatterjack well problem continues. Tomorrow my car will go to Ford to the 4th year maintenance - I’ll try to report this once more time and see what they say, guess I’ll have to make a formal complaint since I’m my view the car is on warranty

same issue, but not that serious like yours, it only beeps three to fours times every time it happened

Then finally after all that you'll turn a corner at some point and the car will not up shift... it'll get so confused it'll think it likes 3rd gear so much it'll never up shift. Mine rapped out at 6000 RPM before i noticed it was stuck in a gear. When you slow down it'll shift down, but you have to stop and turn the car off to get past 3rd again.
Sure the car's been in the shop... a lot but the techs cant find anything wrong with it when i bring it in... They just say it's working...

How about just shutting the sensors off with that button and turning them back on, I have the same problem occasionally on my 10 year vw touareg with 95k on it with parking sensors

I wanted a new Titanium HB for around 21k. Now I am finding that reviewers and customers seem to not like the myford touch system and the automatic transmission is bad. They recommend the SE with 5 speed which I can find for 16k. What do you think?

I have exaclty the same problem with Ford Focus 2014, Titanium. One of the front sensor is indicating an object in front of the car ongoing. Sometimes it beeps continously,,,sometimes it fixes itself and the parking sensor works perfectly, it is very annoying ...Actually,,,I do not even need any front sensor :D ... just the back ones, however, the problem is there .. and it would be good to know how to solve it. thanks.

Tamas P. M. Did you ever get this fixed? I’m having the same problem on my 2013 Titanium X. The problem is more prevalent in the dry than wet conditions. The paint on the sensor looks raised, as if there’s something underneath, so might just need to replace it.

I bought a 2013 Titanium and loved everything about the car EXCEPT this damn transmission. I dumped it and bought a Chrysler 200 and have had zero problems. More luxury features for less $.

Chrysler 200 my ass, Chrysler is the most unreliable car brand and the 200 is known to have catastrophic engine failure and transmission issues. How does this pertain to this video?

Our 2013 Titanium model will not start due to a "Parking Aid Fault - service required" and dealer says we have to tow to them. I tried the remote start this morning a couple times in possibly the wrong order but can't image that did it.

Holy crap is that annoying! This is why I don't like buying cars with all kinds of options. It's just more stuff to break. Ford has such a hard time making reliable vehicles. As appealing as they are, I still won't buy one. I'd buy a Hyundai/Kia before a Ford these days.

  • @Chilternflyer

It doesn't sound like an error code. It sounds like it thinks it's got something very close to the car. Surely a 'technician' can find the fault. (or may be he is stuck under the front bumper. LOL).
The cars aren't the problem it's the idiots in the dealerships that 'fix' them.

This is why I dont trust Ford anymore. Up until 2011-12, their vehicles were shit, but generally reliable. Now the vehicles are good, but unreliable. I will never buy a new Ford until they fix those issues.

I have a fiesta zetec 2012 plate.. bought it recently second hand from Ford dealer here in Northwest UK.. (1 previous owner before me) the rear parking sensors made the single tone noise.. luckily I had 3 month warranty and they put new ones in.. even though they claimed they checked everything before selling it to me which was bs and tried to get me to pay £212 to install them but i stood my ground and wrote a few angry emails and made a few calls to managers and threatened to call regional manager etc.. anyways they agreed to install sensors free of charge.. these new sensors I've had for barely a month. . they don't work anymore... was working fine like 3 days ago.. weather I've had on occasion is rain.. had some ice too.. and I read that this could cause the sensors to crap up.. but it's stupid because I've had rain weather before and they were working fine.. ford truly piss me off. I am no longer in warranty but I don't see the point in going back to them to sort it. I am assuming in my case it's water and ice which interfered with my sensors. I have tried cleaning my sensors with a towel, get dirt off etc and still nothing.. but dirt and water shouldn't cause any malfunctions. . it could also be the fact my car is a 2012 model. . still. .. I paid over £7k for this car and I regret it. Absolute bloody wankers Ford.
