  • Have I made a pirate shirt before? Yes
    Was it great? No
Did I do it again? ABSOLUTELY YES!
This time, I decided to use an actual pattern found here thepirateempire.blogspot.com/2.... It's pretty dang easy to follow and if you're learning how to sew, I think it's a great project to try.

I’ll be posting regularly about my different projects and you don’t need to do anything to see that feed.
And yes, you can donate, and for $2/month, you’ll get behind-the-scenes peeks at my upcoming projects, have a voice in what I should try next, and get your name on screen!
But most exciting, you can get your very own digital pattern of my Box Bag Pattern ko-fi.com/s/9527152c6b
AND I’m doing pre-sales for my DIY Box Bag Sewing Kit. The listing will close at the end of August, and orders will be shipped in September. ko-fi.com/s/3f6991dbb0
I’m so excited to share these with you as I’m so proud of this pattern.

The blouse looks great. The print is nice-had no idea there was one until the dye revealing.. 😄 great video

I had forgotten how much it stands out when I dye it and it was such a great surprise! Now I have to figure out what else to make with that fabric.

@@KatieMakesStuff you will, I have faith 😄.. if it were me, the idea will indeed come and I would hear "Oh that's easy!" 🤣🤣🤣 then many unforseen steps and WTFs later, it would be done lolo..

Katie, I can totally relate to your shame spiral. I suffer from the same condition. 😂😂.
The shirt turned out beautifully and I didn’t realize there was a pattern in the cloth until I saw it dyed. Nice!!

You are such a down to earth person! You inspired me to start on my own pirate shirt. At this point, I'm glad I basted the sleeves. Enough said. Love you!

@KatieMakesStuff I did. First one was a bust, but I learned from my mistakes what I was doing wrong. For the second, I traced out a bodice from a knit shirt and used that to make a yoked shirt. It fit really well. In the end, I took it apart and will be using it for a lot of tops and dresses. Got me over that hump. So, thank you for the inspiration.

My friend once made a pirate shirt from boxer short satin and the pattern on it was lots of little cartoon cows. It was the most amazing thing!

I made this pattern some years ago in a deep green with leaves and gold accents. It is superbly extra but I messed up the shoulders so they are super pinchy, so one day I'm gonna pick it apart and remake it! The pattern on yours is phenomenal! So neat to see what dye does to different stuff.

Very cool 🏴‍☠️ You've inspired me to try! I'm a fluffy gal and mid 60's 🤔 sooo, I may look silly but it's so me! I knew I'd love your channel when I saw your video on Claire Frasier being your fashion icon. 👍😍👍
Oh! Love the headband at the beginning of the video!...did you make it?

Great video! Ora Lin on TH-cam also has a great video on making a pirate shirt based on personal measurements. Hers however, has sleeve slits, armpit gussets AND neck gussets. I am excited to see the next pirate shirt you make.

I was going to say the same thing! Ora Lin's is amazing and the neck gussets are VITAL.

Throw caution to the billows! Then throw some chinese food and waffle house at the brain fatigue, regather.. is that a sewing pun? And regroup, and pirate shirt on!! 👕 I apretia-Tee your candid honesty channel ❤ 😊
new here! Youre Sew Cool 😎 okay, enough puns, argh!
    Question: I do this too when putting a pirate outfit together;
Why do pirate belts have long extra parts that drape, where do we get that from?

I thought about it and someday maybe, but I just loved that Ko-Fi could potentially replace Etsy for me. I've just gotten so frustrated with how overrun by drop-shippers it has become.
