Lockdown football was GOATED. You had Everton being top 3 for ages and BEATING Liverpool with James Rodriguez. Man U 1-6 Spurs. Villa 7-2 Liverpool. Everton 5-4 AET.
Dude I'm convinced watching Everton in lockdown was a fever dream, no way did we go from carlo Ancelotti to rafa benitez to fucking frank lampard
Jesse Lingard being world class at West Ham
I'll never forget how MU 1-6 Spurs was on the SAME DAY as villa 7-2 liverpool. Like maybe an hour later. Crazy times
Christian pulisic having his only good stint at chelsea (including the winner against man city to ensure klopps liverpool would win the league)
None of that happened
Don’t forget Gareth Bale scoring double figures, United winning 9-0, Arsenal in 15th in November, there being effectively no relegation battle, and Liverpool going 4 years without losing at Anfield, only to then lose 6 in a row
Mental, mental, mental
Lockdown Michael Antonio was a weird experience. He just turned it on out of nowhere
I made a dream team during lockdown football, it was so tough to pick the players
I feel like it showed how much pressure the crowd adds
I'm going to fucking explode if I see a comment saying "Lockdown football... *something* *something*... had it not been for Niran's knee injury."
Time to combust buddy
If it wasn’t for nirans explosive, catastrophic, absolutely appalling knee injury, you wouldn’t hear these jokes
Lockdown football... *something* *something*... had it not been for Niran's knee injury
@@abnormalanorakdamn you’ve really ticked him off now!
@@abnormalanorakhe’d respond if he wasn’t driving to your house as we speak
Honestly, the fact Lockdown was 4 years ago now scares me. It feels like it was only yesterday, but in reality almost half a decade of my life has seemingly passed like a blur.
Someone's put the years at 3x speed
True, feels like nothing much happened yet time passed so fast it's unreal
"I didn't know West Brom could even score 5 goals" killed me 🤣🤣🤣
West Brom under Big Sam nonetheless
And they played like Brazil 1970 in that game. And they were coached by Sam allardyce, let that sink in
"Dad, tell me about 2020 lockdown football?"
*insert Vince McMahon crying meme*
"It was special"
Lockdown Football Premier League dream team (3-1-4-2)
Emi Martinez (his late season form for Arsenal, including the FA Cup final win, after that infamous Leno injury from Maupay, got him to Villa and in the Argentina team)
Dias (his presence made John Stones look like Beckenbauer and solidified Man City's backline)
Nathaniel Phillips (unexpectedly thrown into Klopp's backline due to an injury crisis, the man with only one season of first team football under his belt and someone who looks 35)
Shaw (when he found out Man Utd were signing Telles)
Ceballos (in Project Restart)
Lingard (at West Ham on loan)
James Rodriguez (who would have thought he would sign for Everton, he was brilliant for the first few months of the season)
Gundogan (man turned into a 17 goal a season midfielder, I found it hella weird at the time)
Pulisic (in Project Restart)
Calvert Lewin (21 goals for Everton, I can't explain how)
Bamford (17 goals for entertaining, newly promoted Bielsa-ball Leeds, his form in the 20/21 season led to him getting an England cap)
Manager - Carlo Ancelotti (the guy actually had Everton top of the league in the early months of the season, and they were still in the top 6 by March. Build this man a statue)
Other mentions - Iheanacho, Martial, Meslier, Bruno Fernandes (who can forget that Brighton game at the Amex 😂), Rhys Williams
Man said a 3-1-4-2
@@TheRSR that's a real formation lol, did my best haha
NHS Martial was like Henry for a few weeks
@@rohithraman6488 lol I knew that
Joe Willock?
lockdown arsenal was a fever dream but not in a good way
@@rrranesbro that was under arteta u okay?
@@adityahingorani7298i know it was under arteta what i meant is we still got him now and didnt sack him
It was a loyalty test 💀
Melbourne united
@@NOT_JBT12 no, it's actually Melbourne Victory
Lockdown football also being the peak of banter era Spurs and Arsenal at the same time was carnage. Spurs qualified for the conference league (a tournament they were only in because they blew a 3 goal lead to West Ham with 6 minutes to go), and although football fans were back, they got eliminated by covid striking the team. Meanwhile Arsenal somehow managed to win an FA cup, get rattled by Neal Maupay, be in a relegation scrap in december and spawn Emi Martinez back from loan hell to go on to world cup glory.
Lockdown Jesse Lingard was playing like prime Kaka
Everton was crazy that time. Calvert Lewin was arguably the best striker in the league, James was showing class again, Ancelotti was their manager and they even won a game at Anfield after some 10 years. It was mental.
As a Chelsea fan, lockdown Pulisic was a contender for Ballon D or
Came here for this. He was sensational for some reason
Faxx bro, especially against city
MAN THE 3-3 TOTTENHAM V WEST HAM LAST MINUTE SCREAMER BY LANZINI WAS PEAK WEST HAM LOCKDOWN MOMENT
leon goretzka's body transform was peak lockdown football
Bro isn't natty
Lockdown Pulisic was insane, man was wilding out
Lingard, Pulisic, Antonio, Bamford, Joe Willock were some ballers during lockdown, even Dwight fucking Gayle hit a purple patch during lockdown
Lockdown football was actually so fun to watch you could hear the players talking to each other which was really nice to see
Kelechi Iheanacho in that Leicester 3-5-2 with vardy next to him was the greatest thing ive ever witnessed
As a West Ham fan, lockdown West Ham was so different, at the start of the season our fans were 8% optimistic about the season, a lot of the fanbase (including me i must admit) thought our season was to head for Relegation before it even started as there was so much uproar about own ownership and how the club sold at the time a high talent in Grady Diangana
Lost our opening 2 matches against Newcastle and Arsenal, but the game that really started what was going to be a great season was that 4-0 win over Wolves. We were 3-0 down away at Spurs with 10 mins to go and pulled it back to 3-3 with an absolute screamer from Lanzini. Soucek was different gravy alongside his Czech mate Vlad Coufal. Jesse Lingard was unstoppable when he came in on loan in January. Fast forward to the end of the season we had finished 6th which was beyond our wildest expectations to be in the Europa League the following campaign. Sometimes i even really do have to look back and think was this West Ham team even real
🤣🤣🤣
Lockdown bayern was just different. Prime lewy, müller, Thiago, alaba...so many legends. How times have changed
Frr
Niran would have been a staple of lockdown football if it wasn't for his horrid knee injury
lockdown pulisic was crazy
That goal against City will live in my mind rent free
My last memory of lockdown pulisic sadly was him pulling up in the fa cup final whilst taking a shot
Martial Rashford and Greenwood was a cold front three in 19/20
Coutinho's contract allowed him to play against barca and it actually always depends on the contract. Usually a deal changes eligibility with the parent club
This was a fun video in the nostalgia aspect, gave me a proper chuckle lad
The Aston Villa 7 - 2 Liverpool and Man United 1 - 6 Spurs games happened on my birthday, and as a chelsea fan I couldn't have been happier
I'd kill for lockdown football nowadays as a chelsea fan. We were so much better overall
@rohithraman6488 yea man I miss the old chelsea so much
Honestly Niran is probably the best footballer TH-camr. Nearly every line he says has me howling with laughter and I absolutely love it 😂😂
4-0 in your own backyard
I only started watching football during lockdown because it was the only sport on, started with Bundesliga and then that Liverpool title run and champions league final made me an football fan ever since.
I remeber Neymar’s incredible Champions League form. He was genuinely wonderful to watch and it was sad when he was in tears in the and of that match against Bayern
Maupay having Arsenal on strings and kicking off the chain reaction leading to messi's WC win was my personal highlight
Lockdown football was crazy as a Luton fan, when the championship was paused we looked dead and buried set for relegation to league 1. Nathan Jones comes back just over a year after he unceremoniously left the club for Stoke and we go on a crazy run staying up on the last day beating Blackburn 3-2 thanks to 2 own goals and a penalty. And now we're in the Prem. Truly unbelievable
lockdown football was a different vibe man, a time when Dominic Calvert Lewin was relevant, James Rodriguez and Carlo Anchelotti were in Everton of all places, Jesse Lindgaard turning into Prime Isco at times and so much more
Brevv dont remind me. The covid time was the worst 2 years of my life easily. The lockdowns still haunt me.
Christian Pulisic lockdown was something else too
Not even a mention of the 9-0 that Southampton held when playing against prime Ole ball
Probably my strongest memory when it came to lockdown and football was the artificial crowd noise. Here in the US for a super short time, you had a choice to watch the game with or without the crowd noise. During that window, I chose without because I wanted to experience the weirdness that was lockdown sports in its real form.
Lockdown Pulisic was absolutely world class 😩
It's only been 4 years and already I'm bizarrely nostalgic for this period.
Lockdown football pushed me to the brink of insanity as a Schalke fan. 1 Win in the entire year of 2020 was the worst thing I ever had to go through as a football fan😭
These were some crazy times delivering some crazy moments
In the international football, lockdown era was also the beginning of Argentina's golden era. You know that there is a Butterfly Effect regarding this matter, which was happened in the Premier League. During the game between Arsenal and Brighton & Hove Albion, Bernd Leno was brutally injured. As a result, Mikel Arteta decided to start Emi Martinez, who had a brilliant performance that resulted in FA Cup and Community Shield victories. When Aston Villa avoided a relegation at the expense of Bournemouth thanks to some kind of harsh decision vs Sheffield United in the previous season (the infamous ghost goal that wasn't counted by VAR), the club decided to sign Martinez and he impressed a lot. Argentina then called Martinez up for the Copa America and he helped the country won the tournament for the 15th time (as well as the first international trophy for Lionel Messi), particularly his penalty shootout saves vs Colombia. What followed the next year was the historic year for Argentina, as they won the World Cup thanks to brilliant performance for Martinez, most notably his save vs Randal Kolo Muani on the dying moments of the World Cup Final. Now imagine if there's no lockdown football ever, and the GOAT had to retire from the football without Copa America and World Cup once more.
In addition, even though it's funnier, England also had a surprising Euro 2020 run, when they went all the way to the Final at Wembley. Of course, they lost to Italy on penalty shootout.
Lockdown Lingard was Ballon 'Dor level
Still a promising young player
bro the best part of lockdown was how, by some miracle, liverpool got back into the top four, like some statistics were saying they had a ten percent chance
Bale returning to Tottenham and then not starting was the wildest one for me
Southampton first was the best memory ever in lockdown
I'll always treasure hearing Rob Holding shout at the ref "He's built like a brick shithouse how's he gone down?!" After a light tackle on Adama Traore
United counter football was crazy during lockdown. I miss it
Youri tielemans, klechi iheanacho and harvey barnes in lockdown were different gravy
Wow, what a video, I'd forgotten a lot of that.
What a crazy time!!!!! 👏👏👏
Watching Leicester bottle the top 4 whilst I couldn’t go to the local barber shop was an all time low
10:34 I can’t remember who it was but him shouting at the ref “He’s built like a brick shithouse, how has we gone down like that” about Adama
"And at the same week as that" Blud, later that afternoon.
The more I look back at lockdown football, the weirder it gets
Nat Phillips was absolutely sensational at the back. With no other quality option with injuries, he held the ship together
An unexpected surprise video from Niran. Cool
Iheanacho was in the absolute form of his life for like 10 games as well, I remember he hit a hatrick against sheffield utd (yes I know its sheff utd but still)
I’m glad to say I took part in a social experiment
Being an arsenal fan
Who would have thought Bamford, Danny Ings, and J Lingz would of been some of the best players in the prem
Jesse Lingard was one of my favorites growing up and I’m was so happy to see him play really well during Covid. Also got some great celebrations again from him that year
Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount at Chelsea were absolutely sensational.
Jordan Henderson pledging 10% of his wag e to the NHS and getting all other captains to do so is so respectable
Im a Lfc fan ,just started following in 2021 season.I don’t know how the lfc fans in lockdown felt as they had to go through some disastrous results but still comfortably finishing in 3rd😅
Lockdown Bamford was R9 level. And the fact that Leeds were 3 points away from European football their first season back was crazy as well
I know this ain't lockdown but pre-lockdown Sheffield untied was underrated
This is a great video, West Ham during lockdown was class
4 games a day after the season restarted was unbelievable. Not had a time like that since the World Cup
"Ryan Mason" Bale was special
My team losing 9-0 and still finishing second on just Ole ball vibes was something amazing.
Fun fact: Luton have scored more goals in PL this season than Manchester United
0:56 thats the mcg
2020-2021 version of Lewandowski is in top 20 players of all time
Can't believe it was 4 years ago already. FOUR YEARS!
love this new type of content !!!
"Yorkshire pirlo" is probably the most nostalgic title ever
Ifykyk
Crawley battering Leeds 3-0 will always be in my head, what a game and we almost did the same to Bournemouth the round after
I remember every single game got called of on Saturday and there were meant to be 9 games on but all 9 games got postponed cause of Covid
My team Barnsley nearly got promoted to the prem. We finished 5th which is our second highest finish in the championship and had players like Darryl dike and Calton Morris. The one thing I miss about lock down was the fact I watched every Barnsley game
Cavani was class
michail antonio so slept on throughout lockdown football. there was a stretch of 33 games where he had 22 goals and 7 assists
being a Leeds fan that win at the Etihad with 10 men or Bamford's hattrick and Villa Park was my fav moments in that season
You forgot to mention the fact that teams were literally piping in 'crowd noises' through the speakers to make the stadiums feel a bit less empty (and putting cardboard cut outs of fans in seats lol). I actually hated that though. I wanted the silence!
It's rare that you actually get to hear what the players and managers are shouting to each other during matches, unless you regularly go to non-league games, but top flight football on TV, you can't. Not with 40,000 people making noise! But during lockdown you could hear all the shouts. It was quite interesting.....until they started playing fake crowd noises over the tannoy. Maybe TV stations were just shit scared of the amount of swear words that might have been shouted out during live broadcasts.
8-2 was gold
1:42 Manchester United’s penalty terrorism absolutely floored me 😂😂
Iheanacho's 2020-2021's that purple patch run was LEGENDARY
Let's not forget another mental part of 2020 lockdown football - perhaps the most insane final day of the Championship in history. Absolute CHAOS. Barnsley beat Brentford with a last minute winner to stay up, and cost Brentford an automatic promotion place in the process. Wigan nearly stayed up despite a 12-point deduction. Swansea winning 4-1 to turn round a five-goal deficit to snatch the final playoff spot from Nottingham Forest. Luton with a 3-2 comeback win over Blackburn to stay up including TWO OWN GOALS. I remember listening to it all unfold and I genuinely couldnt believe what I was listening to. 🤣
Forgot to mention arsenal playing a home game against benfica in the EL in GREECE
The other thing I remember everyone came out of lockdown as a massive sports pundit with knowledge of every league in the world not only in football but , nhl, baseball, Aussie rules
Now all that knowledge has gone
My favourite memory from that time was pulisic's insane form, literally tuened into messi to get us top four, defeated pool and city in such clutch time, God I miss it all
Bielsas Leeds finishing 3 points behind Arsenal that season was crazy. They tore teams apart that season
Maybe the most criminal thing I’ve ever said.
As an American who didn’t have baseball start until July, lockdown Pulisic singlehandedly made me a Chelsea fan. Still the LeBron James of soccer in my book 🐐
banter arsenal winning the fa cup playing like a top 4 team and also southampton going from top of the league to losing 9-0 to man united the only team to lose 9-0 twice and united being the only team to win 9-0 twice
Cavani and Dan James in lockdown was just 😍😍😍
I personally think the lack of fans allowed players to make decisions abit easier and not buckle under atmospheres (I think fans still make it better tho)thus creating freak achievers like Calvert Lewin that season
Honestly miss lockdown football at home watching it all. And going for the one walk a day to the beach. In the summer as well.
Lockdown football, the period that saw Stuart Dallas score twice against Man City
Fr i thought Todd Cantwell was going to be the next great English midfielder 😂
You just reminded me the lack of stability meant our FPL sides were always missing a player or two so we got given extra wild cards and free hits 😂
I loved it when Itv and BBC had premier league matches and thwre like 3 matches a day
Yeah man, the fact they actually showed free matches was so good, after the Prem tryna charge 25.50 for Fulham Vs palace
AFTV were the peak and it’s not even close
