"That beautiful thing about the marathon is it asks you to fight in a way you weren't expecting." So true man. Love watching these. Getting in the feels for my half tomorrow and Philly full next month! You the man Floberg.
It's so incredible how these thoughts come to mind only when I race and have these experiences. Hoping that each race presents a new and interesting thought for others to take with them. Thanks for watching! Go crush Philly!!
@flobergruns Yessir, Eric! Just collected a half marathon PR in Durham today! To your point, I wasn't expecting all the hills but 1,000ft gain for a half was a new challenge!
Just finished a 8 mile run after not being able to the past month. These videos really motivated me so much you wouldn't believe. So proud of you Eric, again this a race of a lifetime and you have so much to give. Can't wait for what's next for you, will be waiting and supporting you all the way🎉🎉🎉
I always get emotional watching these-there’s something powerful about seeing all the hard work and dedication come together. It reminds me why we put in the miles. Thanks for sharing your journey.
Watching your video Chicago marathon 2years ago from 2:57 to watching your video Chicago marathon in 2024 2:33!!! What a journey you made since then! Congratulations! 🎊🎉
Been following, and enjoying, your videos through this build. Sacrifices you made, training you put in and the race day effort, incredible mate!!! Hearty congratulations on an incredible finish!! Your Build and Race videos are the motivational stuff for me. On that note, while I like the ‘easy’ vibe of this video, I still love the intense Openings of 2023 Chicago and 2024 Boston vlogs. Those two Openings are my go to music on Race Day or long runs while driving to the place. Love your intensity.
Way to work through all your doubts and pain and finish with a great time. I enjoyed watching your Chicago training block. Motivational for sure. I just clocked my first marathon here in Chicago at age 45 in a time of 4:01:12. I ran with a stress fracture that hit in Sep. Now I'm just waiting to sign up for 2025 as I have unfinished business. Again, your videos and videos from others really helped me this year. Cheers!
Congrats Eric! The mar is always throwing something new at you. It's a blessing that it always leaves you wanting a little more. Appreciate the enthusiasm and ready for the next one! Heal up then get after it!
So much to be proud of man - the grit, vulnerability, humility and grace you showed us something we all can relate with. Big inspiration for all of us Eric!! 🤘🏼❤️
Yo! Low key emotional at the amount of on-course support you got. Your community is truly great! A+ video Eric (& Cyrus). Looking forward to the breakdown!
You did amazing! Thanks for everything you do, as it impacts each of us that watch your videos! I just ran my first marathon ever, Columbus Marathon, and ran 2:56:27. Thanks again for inspiration.
Congrats on an incredible race! And thanks for always taking us along on the ride (run) and really letting us get inside your experience. This is maybe your best video yet - and that is saying a lot! Keep doing what you do.
Chicago was one of the best experience I've ever had. The race is awesome! Even not achieving the expected result, the only thing I am able to say is: THANKS CHICAGO!
I have my first half in like, 13 days, and im stoked but nervous. Thank you for showing us whats possible and what to look forward too Eric. Be proud of yourself. We are proud of you.
Such a great video, love the lighter tone and capturing the joy of marathon weekend. Name a better duo than Floberg and Cyrus! ALSO Love the shot of my dawgs from Floberg Coaches at 6:47
Love all the spectators cheering you on! Good on you for listening to your body at the beginning. Thankfully your stomach settled and you sent it. So happy for you mam. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼- Carlos
YEES! Been waiting to see some Chicago marathon content. It’s just so awesome to see all the amazing people and content creators having such a great time together 😁🔥
thanks for uploading! prepping for a marathon here in arkansas in march 2025 and it’ll be my second time doing it and hopefully redeeming as i was underprepared for this years race in march
Considering how you were feeling and the negative chat in your head you did amazingly well to push on to achieve something great!! So much mental strength! Fantastic race Eric 🎉
This is revving me up for my Revel Big Bear Marathon in November...Eeek! Thank you for all your amazing and inspiring content. Eager to see what's next!
I loved see the Akron shirt in your shake out run part of vid, I have never ran the full but it's one of favorite half marathons to do, besides my home town race Medina Half Marathon which I haven't missed a year and it was the only half marathon that my Mom got to see me race in so it holds a special place in my heart. If you ever want to travel to Ohio I think those are musts to run. Although you will need some hill training!!! Oh great video, I got up early last Sunday to track you and watch the pro runners, I was hoping that you were happy with the out come!!! I am glad that you were!
Set aside the A goal, well done on this massive PB, Eric! I was following the 5km splits live, now that I have the context about how you felt on each part, I'd say you've executed such a composed race!
I was following you the whole race in the app and I was wondering how you would feel at the end. Congratulations on the PB! I admire every step of your journey and for some reason I feel extremely proud. Like I’ve said before, you have become a big, big inspiration, being a dad, having a job, and putting in the miles (km for me). I hope one day I can sign up to be trained for a marathon. Congrats again, and thank you!
"The beautiful thing about the marathon is that it asks you to fight in a way that you weren't expecting" DUDE WHAT A PHRASE In my preparation for my penultimate marathon, almost all the long runs started off great, but towards the end I felt terrible. But on race day it was the other way around, to the point that I thought I was going to quit when I got to km 12 (you went back through the start line). However, at km 10, out of nowhere AND RUNNING TOWARDS A BRIDGE I started to feel great to the point that I started running 15 seconds faster every mile. That was the marathon (and the run) I felt the best in my life. So yes, the beautiful thing about the marathon is that it takes you to unexpected places. Congratulations on your new and incredible PB
Floberg! super proud of you man. It was great meeting you at the Expo and the LIS boys! Thanks for taking the few minutes to hang out with my wife Linnea and I and putting us in the video! Haha. Meant a lot to me. Youre always an inspiration. Congratulations on an EPIC race! Cannot wait to see more of your videos and future running goals! 💪
In almost every shot of the last 10k you are passing people left and right. As bad as those cramps must've felt you found a place mentally to push past those and keep the drive forward. Great race, fantastic video, congrats!
This was my first ever Marathon. I rolled my ankle a week before but still made it work. Learned a lot and had a blast Chicago course was so welcoming and fun. Hope to do it again someday.
Well done mate. What an achievement you should be proud of yourself. Enjoy it.....and thank you for all of the motivation you give maybe without realising......enjoy the rest...... Then we go again 💪💪💪
Amazing video my man! I was looking forward for this one. You have an amazing community with you and it's amazing. Hope to see you next year if I can make it
Awesome race man, really impressive grit fighting through to the finish and still coming through with an insane time. Marathons always seem to have SOMETHING go "wrong"!
Just had a similar experience today, albeit slower. Trained for sub 3:15 hour and hit every pace for the first 19 miles when the worst cramp I've ever felt came on suddenly in my left calf. It took me everything I had to finish, and I still PBed by 30 minutes, but losing 20 minutes on the last 6 miles really sucks. But your quote about the marathon asking you to fight harder than you expected is what it is all about.
From watching your video, Nico’s, and my own experience I feel like all runners have the shared experience of staring down a bagel or pice of toast for breakfast on race day
Nice edit as always 💪 congrats on the PR and was very nice to meet you in the shakeout run and discover you speak a bit of spanish 😂 cheers from Chile mate 🇨🇱 see you in the next one
Chicago Marathon was epic! At mile 22 I experience cramps in calves like never before. It hurt so bad I had to stop til the pain left a minute later. Kissed my sub 2:50 A goal goodbye. I still got a PR though of 2:53. I hope to come back someday! I love all of the domestic marathon majors for different reasons. Boston for its history. NYC is imo the best city on planet earth. Running through all 5 bureaus and finishing in Central Park cant be beat. The Chicago is the best of the 3 for fast time though!
Amazing running!!! 🎉 Should definitely be proud with that run mate. I'm on a sub3 journey and have decided to take small jumps and just try chip away at it. Sub2:32 is in you, it just wasn't on that day 👊
5 mins at that level is huge congrats. Crazy how much fructose you’re ingesting in the carb load though, could be a contributing factor to the unsettled stomach.
Me in my air b and b in Chicago trying to take a nice “flat photo of my gear” not realizing my dude has a team of photographers 😂. “Comparison is the thrift of joy”!! Love the content man!!
I can't wait till I run my first US Marathon next year. Will finish 6 marathons during my 3 year work stay in Europe. Stockholm, Athens, Barcelona, Prague, Lisbon, and soon Valencia. So far besides Barcelona and Athens these races have been a grind and mentally tough because of conditions and little crowd energy. Can't wait to be back home with my people and do these big races
So glad you said that about your vlogs at the out. I have been feeling this about your content for a long time. Can we step down and turn around from contrived epicness?
Dude, the last video I watched where u talked about oj and liquid carbs upped my long run nutrition. I have a hydration electrolyte mix and a bagel within the first 15 mins of waking up and half a glass of juice. Then about 30 mins before the run another glass of oj and some water….my stomach feels way better than when I try doing another bagel or banana.
Your hairdresser looked about as interested in your taper plan as my wife does. 😂
lol Patrick always listening to my nonstop running chatter
Perfect timing as I put my feet up and get hyped to race the Toronto marathon tomorrow
Same here, getting antsy to start
See you out there! Im running too
Go get it!!!

I’m a week out from my first marathon. You’re a huge inspiration, congrats on the amazing PR and putting it all out there 👊
Go get it!!!!

Congrats on a great race Eric, cool to see your hard work paying off with a new pb! 🤩
I would love to see you run a marathon someday Mr. Winblad! In the meantime congrats on your last ultra, it looked incredibly difficult...
that last shot crossing the finish line was incredible.
Kevin Gunawan is an absolute legend.
congrats on the pb! didn't expect to see Yowana at 17:20 lol
Thank you!! I didn't know about him until everyone started commenting haha! Seems like such an awesome dude!!
@@flobergruns oh he’s great. can’t wait for a collab someday

Great race, Floberg! That personal best is legit! You should be very proud.
Thank you so much!!!
The fact that you have so much footage from this is amazing. Love the recap and the last 2-4 minutes of this was just 💯

How can you not endlessly root for this guy!? So passionate for the city and his craft. Inspiring stuff, congrats on the new PR!
So cool to see the growth from the Carmel shakeout run to the Chicago shakeout. Congrats on both a great race and all the success you deserve it dude
