I was mindblowed by this orc, but not for the technical aspect of it, there are a lot of amazing and admirable sculptors and 3d artist, but the artistic decisions on "how this reinterpretation of an orc should look" really clicked for me, you're an inspiration

That's the friendliest looking Orc I've ever seen. He looks like a fine gentle orc the kind you could sit and share a beer with. With that ribbon shirt, he looks ready for the Orc powwow too. :)

This is amazing to see what our good'ol Blender has become capable of doing when back in the day Blender was never taken seriously, seeing it be accepted by many industries as the default software for their projects is a dream come true. Btw, keep the good work Daniel, you're a huge inspiration for the whole community.

I love how the form evolves from :33 to :36 this is spectacular what I can feel from that two-step how you "care for the character" you are giving life to ;)) and probably like you described " Extremely beneficial to evaluate the sculpt with realtime lighting and shadows ", it makes the presence of the character so strong, that it create a sense of "responsibility" towards this imaginary creature taking life in front of you ;)) it doesn't become the monster you would feel just a bit scared from. or worst laugh against because he looks super weird. >>> actually his vibes reminds me of how peter jackson wanted to treat his cave troll in the 1rst lord of the ring. >>> voila !! that recap this long blalala >>> thanks ;))) hahaha !!!

Dear Mr. Bysted. I am a huge adorer of your art. This is a great presentation. I understand everything so far except one thing: how do you move the instanced objects like that with the move brush at 1:30, without deforming their individual vertices? I would be grateful for an answer, cause if it is possible to non destructively and freely move your meshes around like this, it would blow my mind.

    • @harrysanders818

@@Userdoesnotexit Ok that's pretty good, 40m is plenty for most tasks, at least for the stuff I'm doing. I see a ton of simple cartoony models made with Blender and I wonder if it could handle a full character like this Orc. If it can, that's fantastic. Edit: I tried the build and I have the same setup as in the description. I see what you mean about performance, it's not even close. In Zbrush I can subdivide a cube 11 times before I start to see a bit of lag while sculpting. In Blender if I'm at 8, I see heavy lag. I'm not sure what Zbrush does with it's 2.5d pixols, but it's still unmatched except by maybe Mudbox, but I don't use that. I'd like to see what can be done to get around the lag and produce the type of work shown in this demo.
