I was born in 1972 and I totally remember the candy cigarettes... They had 2 types... 1 was bubble gum and had a powder coating inside the wrapper of the cigarette and when you blew out the powder would come out like smoke...and the 2nd was the hard white ones with the red tip and I agree with the comment above they tasted like Pepto bismol.... What I wouldn't give to go back in time to back then ....simpler happier times in the world. But terrible to make kids think smoking was cool 🤦🤦🤦

The candy cigarettes are fun to mess with other people's minds, especially when it's foggy, and your exhaled breath looks like smoke (BWAHAHAHA! 😈). And beans and franks (franks are a synonym for hot dogs) is a dish with chopped up hot dogs are added to the baked beans. SERIOUSLY TASTY!

When I was a kid the candy cigarettes did have red on the ends. They became less popular and remarketed because certain groups said that the candy companies were "promoting smoking". I think you should try items you already have in NZ because they may taste differently because you may have a different manufacturer. Such as Kit Kat - the ones you have are made by Nestle but in the U.S. they are made by Hershey, so they may taste slightly (or drastically) different.
When I was a kid you had those kind of candy cigs, but there was also a bubble gum one that had a paper wrapper and if you blew on it, the powder stuff of the gum came out like real smoke...
I remember all those candy cigarettes! The pebbly textured solid candy ones, the bubble gum ones and chocolate ones. The gum and chocolate ones came individually wrapped in paper sleeves to look just like real cigarettes and they were both lightly dusted with powdered sugar under the wrappers so if you held them just right you could act all cool blowing out sugar "smoke" at the beginning. All three kinds used to be available everywhere back in the day before they put the Surgeon General's cancer warning on tobacco products.
14:40 Candy cigarettes back in the 70s also had a red center to make it look like it was lit. AND it had powder sugar and you could "blow smoke" one or two times.
When you guys come to the US, you have got to take a day for Hershey, PA. They have plenty to do there but y'all will absolutely love the Hershey Chocolate Factory tour. (Granted I have only been once way back in the '80s, but I just checked to make sure and it looks like it's still a wonderful and fun attraction to visit.) Great video. Sam, the peppermint stick gum you would like is called Doublemint. Also, I think the baked beans and "hot dogs" she may have been referring to is also called "beanie-weenies". A lot of people just call hot dog weenies "hot dogs". But I could be wrong. Baked beans on a hot dog would be an interesting combo actually. One more thing. Our fresh pretzels are usually not hard and crunchy but I am addicted to the Snyder's pretzels you tried. So yummy! Those and the Guardetto's Rye chips. Incredible! Love you all! The Hershey Factory tour HAS changed. You were able to actually go in the factory when I was a kid. I remember watching the Hershey kisses fly off the machine as they were being wrapped. Now you go through a "simulated" factory.

The Maple Sugar Candy isn't usually that rock hard...I guess the "travel time" took its toll. (You could try to reconstitute it as maple syrup with a little bit of warm water and heat or just crush it down and sprinkle on top of frosting on cookies or cake.) I'm pleased you had so much fun with the contents of the box... Oh, the Boston Cream Pie Atlanta made looked delicious. Good show Atlanta! I would only say that the chocolate frosting looked a bit light in color, like milk chocolate...most of the B.C. Pies I've eaten had a darker frosting, not actually bitter, perhaps a bit more semi-sweet. The worse B.C. Pie I ever ate was from a grocery store (in Pennsylvania) and it was made with chocolate cake. I had never seen such a thing, so I had to try it. Just shockingly untraditional. However, Pennsylvania bakers make wonderful Shoo Fly Pies (made with molasses, so the filling is quite dark in color). I'll send you recipes.
I live in Vermont, We have two versions of Maple Candy, one is soft and melts as soon as in goes in your mouth and one that is a Hard Maple Candy, the one in the video looks like it should be the softer version
I was thinking the same thing anytime I’ve had the maple candies that look like that they’re soft almost creamy. I think they spent a little too long at the post office.

The latest loss are the Cain's pickles and relishes...the company bought out in 2021 and off the shelves now. I'm of the English Perry lines but I knew that it was also a Portuguese name. Ben's Sugar Shack is the company name. The item is "Maple Candy" and is available like that one which was Flower shaped, as well as Heart shaped, Bunnies, and Maple Leaf shapes. Interestingly, the actual first letter of "Ye Olde" is the letter "Ч" and isn't pronouned like a Y. It's actually the Old English letter representing a "TH" so "Чe Olde" is just "The Old."
When you guys get something like Rolo’s that you already have there you should still try it as there’s usually changes with ingredients when US products go to different countries. Maybe even start a occasional series called US vs NZ where you do back to back taste tests of things you get that you get that you do have there.
I grew up in upstate NY and we had several maple trees on our property. Every spring we would tap them, collect the sap and boil it down to maple syrup and sometimes maple sugar. Maple sugar is my all time favorite confection.
Putting the baked beans onto the hotdog and bun is great, kind of like a chili dog and sometimes i melt cheese on the beans. Velveeta / American cheese melts great on them and tastes really good. We also put baked beans on Kielbasa also. It's a perfect combination.

Being an American that grew up in the 80s, some of the candies that I loved were Tart-n-tiny's, Fun Dip, Pixie Sticks, Whatchamacallit, Razzles, Wacky Wafers, Gobstoppers, Bottlecaps, Chickosticks, Runts, Sugar Daddy, Bit O Honey, Peanut Butter Bars, Blow Pops, and Nerds. Snacks that we grew up on were Little Debbie's snack cakes (Peanut Butter Bars were my favorite), and being that I grew up in Texas, there were many Mexican candies that were sold in all the stores as well. I also enjoyed Atlanta's vlog of her making the Boston Cream Pie and believe that you might also enjoy Chess Bars. (Chess... not cheese). Enjoy watching y'all !

Beanie weenies: Hotdogs cut into 1/4 to 1/2 inch pieces and cooked in baked beans. Baked beans: 1 can of pork and beans, 1/4 cup of brown sugar, 1/4 cup of ketchup, 2 tablespoons of mustard, bring to a boil, turn them down to low, and cook for about 15 minutes. Stir often.

In Canada Juicy Fruit also comes as a tablet. I don't know if they're coloured or not. Here, almost all gum comes as tablets in blister-packs now. No matter the brand.
Hello from Georgia, USA. Love your videos. The juicy fruit brings back childhood memories for me. We used to visit my grandfather every Sunday. He would meet me and my brother on the front porch with a dollar bill and a pack of juicy fruit gum. Sadly he passed when I was still very young but whenever I see juicy fruit, it puts a smile on my face.

You can still find them in "old tyme" candy stores. The closest you'll probably get in regular stores is the Popeye (the sailer man) candy sticks that are in some bundled Halloween candy packs and I think those are (lol) "fruit flavored"

I remember both the gum and the chalk like candy cigarettes, the puff of smoke was so cool when you were 10. Luckily I hated real cigarettes when I first tried them and never got hooked on smoking.

Before Covid , the King of Prussia mall in PA always had a sees candy booth set up at Christmas time , I agree, best candy ever, I hope they come back to his year.
A good friend of mine actually credits candy cigarettes for helping him quit smoking real cigarettes. Any time he would feel the need to light up, he would suck on a candy cig until it was gone. For most smokers it's about muscle memory/having something to do with your hands. Just thought I'd share that little story with you all. I love your content, keep up the awesome videos! RE: baked beans & hotdogs- The way we used to do it when I was a kid is to cut up the hotdogs into slices and put them into the beans. Blackjack gum is my mom's favorite- she loves black licorice. I do not. Lol. The same company also makes a "Clove" gum and one called "Beeman's", the flavor of which I can't remember, but could be maybe a wintergreen (?). Anyway, I always enjoy watching your reactions to all these new and sometimes wacky foods. Cheers!
I grew up in Boston and the "House of 7 Gables" is in Salem, MA, which is north of Boston, of course on the Atlantic. This is where the infamous Salem witch trials took place, and all over the north shore of Boston, and especially Danvers MA.
Making your own soft pretzels is really fun but if you find shaping them difficult, pretzel nuggets are very very easy and fun to make and they're bite size for sharing and dipping.
Straight Maple Syrup is very watery and thin. It is also quite the surprise when you taste it, it's VERY strong. What I do is purchase a pint of pure maple syrup and a bottle of something like Log Cabin syrup, which only contains about 4% maple. I then mix the two, and get a delicious syrup topping.
Lol Fannie Mae-Sally Mae's younger sister-who felt so bad about her rolling off the children with her overpriced student loans- that she created cheap but fantastic chocolate to help them get over the depression. Or so I heard. 😝
What about Bloomer’s chocolate? I used to work just a few blocks from there and you could smell it and it just drove me crazy. Oh and by the way Fannie Mae sells government backed financial instruments. Fannie May is the chocolate brand from Chicago lol

Candy cigarettes - growing up in the late 50s and 60's. It was a special treat when in the 5 and dime store. Then smoking was big back then. Grew up in a smoking house - mom and dad smoked but later quit smoking. None of us kids smoked (4) and glad we didn't ever start. Take care - Be safe and have a good winter. Just getting warm up in the midwest. Was 85F Sunday but todays high is a mere 40F. But better then our low for the year of -15F.

Being from Massachusetts myself I was surprised that the state dish you did was not Boston Baked Beans. The most famous dish from here. Boston is even nicknamed Beantown. BTW Boston Baked Beans are the primary style Nationally. They are NOT tomato based. They are slow cooked in molasses and brown sugar

Baked Bean Candy was one of my favorites growing up. It’s hard to find now but I still enjoy them when I can. As you noticed they taste nothing like what they are named after. It’s the look of the candy that gave it their name. Also grew up eating baked beans and hotdogs. You cut up the hot dog and mix them into the beans. It’s not meant to eat together on a bun. Usually, to eat baked beans and hot dogs, which is often called "beans and franks", you would slice the hot dogs up into relatively thin slices (making circles), and then put them in the beans while they cook. It's super quick and easy, and is actually really tasty.
With our tea in ga we boil our tea bags for about 15 to 20 mins and remove our tea bags and pour the tea in our gallon tea jug and add 2 cups of sugar and fill with water.. put in fridge to drink… we call it sweet tea… Lipton tea I use 8 little tea bag’s per gallon or 4 of the big bags per gallon..
Massachusetts is my next door neighbor, I live in Connecticut. So excited to see a New England state represented. ;) Not sure if anyone has mentioned it, but hotdogs and bean are hotdogs cut up in pieces, about an inch or so long and mixed into the beans after it's cook. I typically see them at potluck dinners or cookouts. One of our local apple orchards sells maple cotton candy during their open house for Columbus Day weekend. It's Sooooo good. :)
My recipe for hot dogs and beans (aka beans and franks): in pot saute chopped onions in butter, add chopped celery, stir in can of baked beans and sliced hot dogs ("coins" about 1/3-1/2 inch), add brown sugar (options in addition or instead of: black pepper, honey -- all to taste), simmer until hot dogs are done. You can eat as is or spoon over a slice of bread (my preference).
I actually chipped a tooth on those honey mustard pretzels lol they're hard as a rock sometimes, but they're really good haha i like the jalapeño flavored pretzels the best.
Baked beans with hotdogs is actually made with hotdogs cut up and mixed in with the baked beans -- baked beans are rather sweet, so the saltiness of the hotdog pieces give it a nice sweet & savory flavor blend. Nice! When growing up in Michigan during the 60s & 70s, candy cigarettes were still very common. As young boys who occasionally wanted to act "grown up" or "rebellious" -- but wouldn't dare steal any of Dad's cigarettes -- these did the job for us.
The candy called Boston Baked Beans are, I think, supposed to look like a bean after baking. But it's candy-coated nuts & bears no relation to baked beans. Use navy beans, or small white beans, cook forever, mix with minced onion, molasses, etc. & bake. You can find recipes online or any standard US cookbook. Or take the easy way out & get either Bush's or B&M canned baked beans. Beanie Weinees: boil hot dogs (weiners) for 2 minutes, slice into "coins," and add to baked beans while you heat up the beans. Very popular for quick & easy lunches, "kiddie food," or a fast Saturday supper.
Nadine, Hershey's Milk Chocolate is 43% cocoa, semi-sweet chocolate is 52% cocoa, and special dark is 62% cocoa. As an adult, I now prefer the Special Dark chocolate (62% cocoa) or the heart healthy Dark Chocolate (70% cocoa). As the cocoa percentage goes up the sugar percentage goes down. Atlanta needs to make y'all a Death by Chocolate cake. If I remember the recipe rightly, the cake is made with semi-sweet chocolate (52% cocoa), the between-the-layers filling is made with milk chocolate (43% cocoa) and the top & sides are iced with special dark (62% cocoa) or dark (70% cocoa) chocolate, a chocolate lovers dream. :)
The proper way to do Baked beans and hot dogs is to boil the hot dogs and then slice them into small pieces and then put them into the Baked Beans as they cook, delicious! One better is to brown ground beef in a sauce pan, pour off the extra fat and them put the ground beef in the Baked Beans as they cook. It's a quick, cheap meal that will feed a large family.

I love Boston Baked Beans! When I eat them, I hold them on my mouth for a few seconds to soften them up before eating. We had the candy cigarettes when I was a kid in the 70s and 80s. They used to have the red tip on them when I was a kid, but eventually that disappeared and the candy is now called candy sticks. They typically are only found in novelty stores and/or shops now.
In the 90s, the candy cigarettes used to have the red tip. I think they wanted them to look less like cigarettes (to encourage kids to smoke), so they removed the red tip and started calling them "candy sticks" instead. I do like lighting the end to make it both look more real and to caramelize the sugar, making it more tasty.

I remember getting candy cigarettes for Halloween as a kid. Built a leaf fort outside in my front yard with my brother and spent all day eating candy in it. Candy cigarettes always felt like eating a piece of chalk to me 🤣.

When I was a kid the candy cigarettes did have red on the ends. They became less popular and remarketed because certain groups said that the candy companies were "promoting smoking". I think you should try items you already have in NZ because they may taste differently because you may have a different manufacturer. Such as Kit Kat - the ones you have are made by Nestle but in the U.S. they are made by Hershey, so they may taste slightly (or drastically) different.
When I was a kid you had those kind of candy cigs, but there was also a bubble gum one that had a paper wrapper and if you blew on it, the powder stuff of the gum came out like real smoke...
I knew there was a cigarette bubble gum. I just mentioned that up top. LOL 🤣😂
I remember all those candy cigarettes! The pebbly textured solid candy ones, the bubble gum ones and chocolate ones. The gum and chocolate ones came individually wrapped in paper sleeves to look just like real cigarettes and they were both lightly dusted with powdered sugar under the wrappers so if you held them just right you could act all cool blowing out sugar "smoke" at the beginning. All three kinds used to be available everywhere back in the day before they put the Surgeon General's cancer warning on tobacco products.
14:40 Candy cigarettes back in the 70s also had a red center to make it look like it was lit. AND it had powder sugar and you could "blow smoke" one or two times.

When you guys come to the US, you have got to take a day for Hershey, PA. They have plenty to do there but y'all will absolutely love the Hershey Chocolate Factory tour. (Granted I have only been once way back in the '80s, but I just checked to make sure and it looks like it's still a wonderful and fun attraction to visit.)

One more thing. Our fresh pretzels are usually not hard and crunchy but I am addicted to the Snyder's pretzels you tried. So yummy! Those and the Guardetto's Rye chips. Incredible!

The Hershey Factory tour HAS changed. You were able to actually go in the factory when I was a kid. I remember watching the Hershey kisses fly off the machine as they were being wrapped. Now you go through a "simulated" factory.

The Maple Sugar Candy isn't usually that rock hard...I guess the "travel time" took its toll. (You could try to reconstitute it as maple syrup with a little bit of warm water and heat or just crush it down and sprinkle on top of frosting on cookies or cake.)

Oh, the Boston Cream Pie Atlanta made looked delicious. Good show Atlanta! I would only say that the chocolate frosting looked a bit light in color, like milk chocolate...most of the B.C. Pies I've eaten had a darker frosting, not actually bitter, perhaps a bit more semi-sweet.
The worse B.C. Pie I ever ate was from a grocery store (in Pennsylvania) and it was made with chocolate cake. I had never seen such a thing, so I had to try it. Just shockingly untraditional. However, Pennsylvania bakers make wonderful Shoo Fly Pies (made with molasses, so the filling is quite dark in color). I'll send you recipes.
I live in Vermont, We have two versions of Maple Candy, one is soft and melts as soon as in goes in your mouth and one that is a Hard Maple Candy, the one in the video looks like it should be the softer version
I was thinking the same thing anytime I’ve had the maple candies that look like that they’re soft almost creamy. I think they spent a little too long at the post office.

Ben's Sugar Shack is the company name. The item is "Maple Candy" and is available like that one which was Flower shaped, as well as Heart shaped, Bunnies, and Maple Leaf shapes. Interestingly, the actual first letter of "Ye Olde" is the letter "Ч" and isn't pronouned like a Y. It's actually the Old English letter representing a "TH" so "Чe Olde" is just "The Old."

When you guys get something like Rolo’s that you already have there you should still try it as there’s usually changes with ingredients when US products go to different countries. Maybe even start a occasional series called US vs NZ where you do back to back taste tests of things you get that you get that you do have there.

I grew up in upstate NY and we had several maple trees on our property. Every spring we would tap them, collect the sap and boil it down to maple syrup and sometimes maple sugar. Maple sugar is my all time favorite confection.
Putting the baked beans onto the hotdog and bun is great, kind of like a chili dog and sometimes i melt cheese on the beans. Velveeta / American cheese melts great on them and tastes really good. We also put baked beans on Kielbasa also. It's a perfect combination.
I like baked beans on a baked potato with shredded cheese on top.
Or I stir shredded cheddar into the heating beans, and let it melt, then put it on the hot dog or sausage in the bun. Yum!

Being an American that grew up in the 80s, some of the candies that I loved were Tart-n-tiny's, Fun Dip, Pixie Sticks, Whatchamacallit, Razzles, Wacky Wafers, Gobstoppers, Bottlecaps, Chickosticks, Runts, Sugar Daddy, Bit O Honey, Peanut Butter Bars, Blow Pops, and Nerds. Snacks that we grew up on were Little Debbie's snack cakes (Peanut Butter Bars were my favorite), and being that I grew up in Texas, there were many Mexican candies that were sold in all the stores as well. I also enjoyed Atlanta's vlog of her making the Boston Cream Pie and believe that you might also enjoy Chess Bars. (Chess... not cheese). Enjoy watching y'all !

Beanie weenies: Hotdogs cut into 1/4 to 1/2 inch pieces and cooked in baked beans. Baked beans: 1 can of pork and beans, 1/4 cup of brown sugar, 1/4 cup of ketchup, 2 tablespoons of mustard, bring to a boil, turn them down to low, and cook for about 15 minutes. Stir often.

In Canada Juicy Fruit also comes as a tablet. I don't know if they're coloured or not. Here, almost all gum comes as tablets in blister-packs now. No matter the brand.
Hello from Georgia, USA. Love your videos. The juicy fruit brings back childhood memories for me. We used to visit my grandfather every Sunday. He would meet me and my brother on the front porch with a dollar bill and a pack of juicy fruit gum. Sadly he passed when I was still very young but whenever I see juicy fruit, it puts a smile on my face.

14:30... they used to... regulators made the candy cigarettes producers stop doing that we also had a gum candy cigarettes also that were wrapped in paper and had powdered sugar that you could blow out of it to resemble smoke that was in the early eighties... now I think they're not even allowed to make them United States for kids to buy
You can still find them in "old tyme" candy stores. The closest you'll probably get in regular stores is the Popeye (the sailer man) candy sticks that are in some bundled Halloween candy packs and I think those are (lol) "fruit flavored"

A good friend of mine actually credits candy cigarettes for helping him quit smoking real cigarettes. Any time he would feel the need to light up, he would suck on a candy cig until it was gone. For most smokers it's about muscle memory/having something to do with your hands. Just thought I'd share that little story with you all. I love your content, keep up the awesome videos! All kids used to love (?) Bazuka, or Bazuko Joes gum, it was rectangular/squarish shaped, you unwrap it and there was a tiny comic strip inside.

The way we used to do it when I was a kid is to cut up the hotdogs into slices and put them into the beans.
Blackjack gum is my mom's favorite- she loves black licorice. I do not. Lol. The same company also makes a "Clove" gum and one called "Beeman's", the flavor of which I can't remember, but could be maybe a wintergreen (?).
Anyway, I always enjoy watching your reactions to all these new and sometimes wacky foods. Cheers!

I grew up in Boston and the "House of 7 Gables" is in Salem, MA, which is north of Boston, of course on the Atlantic.

Making your own soft pretzels is really fun but if you find shaping them difficult, pretzel nuggets are very very easy and fun to make and they're bite size for sharing and dipping.
I think those maple candies were so hard because they’ve been stored at the postal office for so long. Usually they’re softer almost creamy.
Straight Maple Syrup is very watery and thin. It is also quite the surprise when you taste it, it's VERY strong. What I do is purchase a pint of pure maple syrup and a bottle of something like Log Cabin syrup, which only contains about 4% maple. I then mix the two, and get a delicious syrup topping.
Idk what some of that stuff is but it's always good to see u enjoy urself for the most part at least

Lol Fannie Mae-Sally Mae's younger sister-who felt so bad about her rolling off the children with her overpriced student loans- that she created cheap but fantastic chocolate to help them get over the depression. Or so I heard. 😝

Candy cigarettes - growing up in the late 50s and 60's. It was a special treat when in the 5 and dime store. Then smoking was big back then. Grew up in a smoking house - mom and dad smoked but later quit smoking. None of us kids smoked (4) and glad we didn't ever start. Take care - Be safe and have a good winter. Just getting warm up in the midwest. Was 85F Sunday but todays high is a mere 40F. But better then our low for the year of -15F.

Being from Massachusetts myself I was surprised that the state dish you did was not Boston Baked Beans. The most famous dish from here. Boston is even nicknamed Beantown. BTW Boston Baked Beans are the primary style Nationally. They are NOT tomato based. They are slow cooked in molasses and brown sugar

Hi, Family. About baked beans and hot dogs, Americans eat the baked beans as a side dish with the hotdogs, or slice up the hotdog weiners, put them in the baked beans and eat them that way; no buns/rolls needed in that case.
Baked Bean Candy was one of my favorites growing up. It’s hard to find now but I still enjoy them when I can. As you noticed they taste nothing like what they are named after. It’s the look of the candy that gave it their name. Also grew up eating baked beans and hotdogs. You cut up the hot dog and mix them into the beans. It’s not meant to eat together on a bun. Another great video from you all. 🙌
Usually, to eat baked beans and hot dogs, which is often called "beans and franks", you would slice the hot dogs up into relatively thin slices (making circles), and then put them in the beans while they cook. It's super quick and easy, and is actually really tasty.
With our tea in ga we boil our tea bags for about 15 to 20 mins and remove our tea bags and pour the tea in our gallon tea jug and add 2 cups of sugar and fill with water.. put in fridge to drink… we call it sweet tea… Lipton tea I use 8 little tea bag’s per gallon or 4 of the big bags per gallon..

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it, but hotdogs and bean are hotdogs cut up in pieces, about an inch or so long and mixed into the beans after it's cook. I typically see them at potluck dinners or cookouts.
One of our local apple orchards sells maple cotton candy during their open house for Columbus Day weekend. It's Sooooo good. :)

My recipe for hot dogs and beans (aka beans and franks): in pot saute chopped onions in butter, add chopped celery, stir in can of baked beans and sliced hot dogs ("coins" about 1/3-1/2 inch), add brown sugar (options in addition or instead of: black pepper, honey -- all to taste), simmer until hot dogs are done. You can eat as is or spoon over a slice of bread (my preference).
I actually chipped a tooth on those honey mustard pretzels lol they're hard as a rock sometimes, but they're really good haha i like the jalapeño flavored pretzels the best.

When growing up in Michigan during the 60s & 70s, candy cigarettes were still very common. As young boys who occasionally wanted to act "grown up" or "rebellious" -- but wouldn't dare steal any of Dad's cigarettes -- these did the job for us.
The candy called Boston Baked Beans are, I think, supposed to look like a bean after baking. But it's candy-coated nuts & bears no relation to baked beans. Use navy beans, or small white beans, cook forever, mix with minced onion, molasses, etc. & bake. You can find recipes online or any standard US cookbook. Or take the easy way out & get either Bush's or B&M canned baked beans. Beanie Weinees: boil hot dogs (weiners) for 2 minutes, slice into "coins," and add to baked beans while you heat up the beans. Very popular for quick & easy lunches, "kiddie food," or a fast Saturday supper.

Nadine, Hershey's Milk Chocolate is 43% cocoa, semi-sweet chocolate is 52% cocoa, and special dark is 62% cocoa. As an adult, I now prefer the Special Dark chocolate (62% cocoa) or the heart healthy Dark Chocolate (70% cocoa). As the cocoa percentage goes up the sugar percentage goes down. Atlanta needs to make y'all a Death by Chocolate cake. If I remember the recipe rightly, the cake is made with semi-sweet chocolate (52% cocoa), the between-the-layers filling is made with milk chocolate (43% cocoa) and the top & sides are iced with special dark (62% cocoa) or dark (70% cocoa) chocolate, a chocolate lovers dream. :)
The proper way to do Baked beans and hot dogs is to boil the hot dogs and then slice them into small pieces and then put them into the Baked Beans as they cook, delicious! One better is to brown ground beef in a sauce pan, pour off the extra fat and them put the ground beef in the Baked Beans as they cook. It's a quick, cheap meal that will feed a large family.

Russell Stover still has stores in the St. Louis area, where you can buy chocolates by the pound, pick from their assortments, build your own, or get chocolate covered strawberry's etc as they dip them.
I love Boston Baked Beans! When I eat them, I hold them on my mouth for a few seconds to soften them up before eating. We had the candy cigarettes when I was a kid in the 70s and 80s. They used to have the red tip on them when I was a kid, but eventually that disappeared and the candy is now called candy sticks. They typically are only found in novelty stores and/or shops now.
In the 90s, the candy cigarettes used to have the red tip. I think they wanted them to look less like cigarettes (to encourage kids to smoke), so they removed the red tip and started calling them "candy sticks" instead. I do like lighting the end to make it both look more real and to caramelize the sugar, making it more tasty.
