We are back this week building and designing new robots for our Bot Bash Party Service. While Zach builds two new robots, he asks for YOUR HELP on the next robot. Please let me know the design type, drive train, and weapon you would like to see on our newest robot. Please keep it non-destructive sportsman weaponry (no spinners or flames, just lifter/flippers/grabbers etc).

My idea is:
ADoorAble, a 4 wheel drive Side hinge flipper
It would be a somewhat long ish chassis, mostly painted in beige, that would look like a door frame.
Ontop of this is the weapon, an opening door, the idea is you get under another robot, and once its on top, the door swings open sideways flipping them over.
The wedge could be styled like a door mat, saying the word “welcome” as a real one would.
Colors, beige for the frame, a white door with maybe a see through window, and a brown wedge as the welcome mat
I feel this would both be a unique adition, as we never see side hinges, and a fun bot to bring out at a party due to its theming
Ive loved this idea for a long time, a tracked bot with two clamping claws like red devil, but instead of a saw its got a defender style lifter that could also be used as a regular lifter if you pull the claws all the way up. The claws should be yellow with black tips to mimick like a bee stinger kind of look and the rest of the bot can be a mix of yellows and blacks
Have you ever heard of Spirit of Taga? It was a World Championship V entrant that had to withdraw. I thought it was cool since it had two drums that caved at a 45 degree angle that, after testing it myself, would have been very difficult to not get picked up by one of the drums.
I would make a 2WD robot with Spirit of Taga weaponry called "Clean Sweep". The weapons themselves focus on torque to pick up other bots and are made of a firm rubber or grippy plastic in the shape of those side brushes you find in a car wash. The idea is that the robot would charge forwards and grip on the corners of the opponent and pick them up without the struggle for ground game.
For decoration, the body is a primary color (I'd say sky blue) and has fake panel outlines to resemble a freshly clean car. The two brushes are a brighter red. If the robot looks too flat and square, you could add a squeegee tail to the back or even double down on the car shape.
This idea I've made in a few robot combat games, but would love to see it tried in real life! Good luck with the new bot ideas!
Do a giant lobster claw clamp bot with 2 wheel tank drive where the bottom portion of the claw would be a ground scraping wedge and that would a single 3D printed part with the wedge, hinge for claw, and chassis. And just a lobster claw with a servo that attaches to the hinge so it moves up and down. Make if all red and if it has self righting issues add antenna and some eyes to it. Call it Larry the lobster or something like that.
You should do a fast Clawviper Style bot, Make the colors Red, Orange, Yellow, then name it Heatwave but make sure it can be invertibleand self right.
I think kind of like how Free Shipping started, like a mini forklift. Only it's like one of the bracer types with steel plates that carry by compression. The only difference, solid spikes on the plates. Call it Lateral Temple of Doom!
A Full Body flipper. Like those things in pinball machines. It makes contact, and the bottom half of the full body shell lifts up, and ideally throws whatever's hit it. I imagine the body of a full-body-spinner. But, the whole thing just ... Lifts? Really quickly, I guess.
I challenge you to make a bubble themed robot. Named bubble-bobble. that has a large clear dome that captures its opponents like the original comedy Central ladybug robot. And to bring this build to expert level for extra credit, I challenge you to make it a bristle bot to coincide with the theme!
My 2 favorite bots because they are weird are:
My favorite bot of all time is Huggy Bear the short empty center grabby thing (4 wheel drive low low man). This bot is meant to drive under you than "hug you" with its side grabbers... making it big enough and short enough is a real challange- kinda flat mammoth problem. I even tried to make a ant weight version of this and gave up due to my lack of ability.
T-minus is a super interesting design for me since it was a winning "thwack bot". The bot would spin in place bot with a t shaped side wedge hammer head (2 wheel drive thwack design). In most of its fights it would side spin, jam its head under its opponent and drag them around, I think this could be optimized, during its run it was terrible (even though it won its weight class to boos haha). It would lift as it spins, making it a terrible wedge, but perhaps you could make side wedge work.
A flipper that stores energy with a flywheel like blip. The frame is rectangular with two powered rear wheels and a long flipper at around 20-30 degrees. The robots color scheme would be orange and black bc why not
And name it grasshopper

You should make a claw viper style 4wd Graber lifter but put end game style wedges/wedglets on the front. The bot should be styled like sawblaze. A black and green dragon with the eyes on the graber jaw and finally it should be named hungry dragon. (Idk I thought it would be funny and good)
My idea is:
Honey, I Crushed The Bots
(a hammer bot+ crusher)
It has a horizontal crusher, and a hammer. The idea is you grab the bot and continuously hammer it.
For the drivetrain, it will have two wheels, possibly with wheel guards.
Maybe like low to the ground, DUCK!-ish square design, with turqoise monster art on the side.
(If the hammer thing doesn't work out, maybe turn it into a horizontal-clawed suplexer).
I think this bot will be a nice control bot, and be fun to see.
A 2wd mammoth styled lifter bot, probably using the same gear-motor as the drive but geared to the 'weapon', and can even mess with other mechanisms like worm gears if the ratio isn't high/slow enough
A 2 wheel hammer bot called Sasquatch the hammer is a big foot that stomps on opponents. I’ve been trying to learn auto cad and engineering to build it.
I guess it could be shaped like a big foot and “lift/kick” other bots.
Brown and peach colors.
I love flippers so it'll be great to see another one of those
This is just an idea for a new battlebot build. Could add a horizontal hammer saw that swings from the sides forward that knocks bots to the side and can break wheels.
How about a Mammoth-style swinging lifter/flipper. Maybe use a Flap Wire Brush head as the weapon. Also make it as big and spindly-swingset-framed as possible. I suck at names -- the best I'm coming up with is Smack-a-derm or Undead Brush Bot (paint it like a skeleton zombie).
"Clamshell".....a control bot that has a large oval shape shell top with a flat wedge bottom chasis that can engulf its opponent and hide them out of sight and spit them out for a 10 second hold....with some type of purple or blue Pearl eyes for show... 👀 ....it was great meeting you and Diana at SWSX in Austin!

A TPU "flap-tooth" weaponed WRECKS (we've seen some TPU flap-tooth verts that were safe to stop with your finger (reasonably rpm) and worked reasonably well as far as launching other bots without damage...

A nice sturdy 4x4 wheel base, aluminium frame, a tegris arm that swings a REAL edible club sandwich like a bouncy hammer! Mustard yellow and 50s check paintjob with pickle wheels and a label on top with the sell by date (14th May 1985.)
You should build a flipper where it's just a giant linear actuator with a split snow plow wedge on the end that goes forward and forces the opposit back and up. The snow plow would be recessed into the front to protect it and you would have harpoon wedglets to catch the other bot. I am imagining it would be a two-wheeled bot with the cylinder hanging out the ass end. The back of the cylinder would be vulnerable but the bot would have really good reach and turn quick. You could call it Death-Blow.

Make a robot that it's main weapon spins similar to bloodsport but instead of it being a rigid bar make it a chain with metal balls at the end with spikes protruding out

It's colors should be red, black, and fire colors in general, make it look mean. The base could be a triangle to match the wheels 🛞.
I've had an idea for a flipper style bot where the flipper is powered by a wind up mechanism (similar to a wind up toy car) with a tank style drive but haven't even been able to build my first bot yet.
i would do a lifter bot that uses a smiley face from the 😃emoji and its tongue sticking out as the lifter point. It would be a 2 wheeled battlebot with the main color being yellow. If it had LED lights it could be in the smiley face's eyes.
I got one for ya :) 2wd or 4wd Jaw-bot, like Diesector or General Chompsalot (Jawbreaker) from RW and Robotica. The 2wd chassis would likely be a lot easier to make practical since you could take an Electric Boogaloo/Monsoon/Uppercut style on invertible chassis to accomodate the jaw closure upside down or right-side up.
A dustpan bot, but the dustpan is a long tongue, then you have the top be the head of godzilla or a mimic like from dnd. If done correctly you could even find a way to hide the teeth. Just hit up thingiverse to find a good looking head for each idea. Good part about this is you could use your standard n20 / n10 drive and the nano, with a servo to control the mouth.
Two wheeled drive similar to Vector of Armageddon from Robot Wars Series 1 made out of 3D printed plastic.
Flywheel or spring loaded flipper to get Blip or Toro like flipping in a tiny package
You could Try make a Lifter/Grabber like Barrog, with some quite strong drive motors and good motors to lift other robots, soo it can grab the robot and lift it to control it,and make the bigger part of the lifter wedge have a good turn Radius soo it can self right,Some Colors could be like Pink and White, and the Name could be Ms Huggies.
What about a shark themed robot (of a dinosaur theme)
The weapon could be an opening mouth with jaws in it. In the back it could have a moving tail like the first version of deathroll back in the days. Probably there could be problems with the self righting.
The shark could have a lightgrey and darkgrey theme. A dinosaur maybe more green an brown theme.
Names could be "Shaggy the Shark" or "Robosaurus Rex".

Robot: Dizzy destruction. Imagine the shape like a staple remover flat on the table, the hinge is powered by a strong servo. The two sections have a wheel with an n20 or n10 mounted on the end furthest from the hinge. Color scheme is white and orange, swirly pattern to reflect that it'll be spinning round a lot. When it's opened wide it can tank drive around, when it clamps it can spin.
if I had to design something for bot bash party I would have to say a full body 360 degree lifter the design is made up of 2 individual systems with it's own weapon motor on each side powering the lifting arm so the robot is able to do a hand stands and back flips and be super fun to fight and play with. similar to razorback but being able to use the arm to lift normal or to lever the body upwards to lift.
The drive pods have 1 drive motor at the front with a belt of gear system to the rear wheel and a low rpm motor with a gear on the inside that goes to the arm system. there is a shoulder bolt for the shaft connecting all parts together the lifter being in the middle and being able to easily be swapped out for a clamp or a hammer etc so if the lifter isn't ideal you can easily give it a different weapon with.
The bot it's self is a simple shape a simple 4 wheel drive boxish shape with a wedge on all 3 pods so it can wedge things but the back of the drive pods and arm are round so it can easily roll around even if the drive randomly dies it can keep being fun. I will suggest if you do decide to select mine put some bushings in the arms and have the arms mainly printable for easy swap outs with the gears bolted to the arms.
I would suggest internals but given I am not super knowledgeable on US robots but maybe use 2 Malenki-Nano 1 in each pod so there is no crossing wires and us you can probably get away with 300mah 2s GNB lipos with the JST or the 380 mah with xt30 they are very small and easily can fit inside.
as for themeing I would suggest maybe some kind of snake and calling it constrictor or something like that.

I have a cool idea which uses a hexbug duck, on my channel I have a custom hammer bit which uses one of those big motors with the yellow gear box and I 3d print an arm with a AA hammer and maybe use a blue 3.7 volt battery for better power too, 😊
You call me crazy but make a bot like tantrum but instead of the mini spinning disc make it a punch with a horizontal disc with a four wheel drive. Make sure to add a self right system to it. The bots name is punchline. It will be red and black
Name: Grape Juice Bonzana! It’s gonna be a 2 wheeled drive chain and a slanted arrow type chassis. It’s mostly gonna be purple but with some black however I want it to specifically have a giant purple splash in the middle of the chassis. For the weapon it would be like a mega tento type grabber but more ovaly and no spinner and no bug decoration and fully purple. And just for fun add a flail at the of the chassis with a mini grape juice can at the end.
Huge style lifter/grabber named chompers. T shaped with large wheels at the top of the T and a long lifter hinged at the bottom of the T with a servo winch actuation half way down the T. The end of the lifter is between the two wheels like a lower jaw so that it can "bite" and toss its oponets away when they end up between the wheels and in the jaw. I've got an idea if you'd like to play a villain. A lifter with a Bulldozer like scoop. I'm thinking 4 wheels, because treads might be too complicated. (I don't know robotics that well. I'm just guessing) The Name: Bully the Bulldozer. It's an Enviromental Nightmare with a Metallic paint job, with black and brown 'smears' on it. Intentional messiness is the best way I can describe it. The black is for the oil spills, and brown for the dirt kicked up from Bully uprooting trees. Again; this is if you'd like to play a villain.

Make a front hinge lifter, with a widened wedge at the front of the bot. It would be 2 wheel drive, and invertible with enclosed wheels, maybe wheelguards that come off for damage points. Paint it blue and orange, like Perry the Platypus. I made something like this in Robot Rumble 2, if you want reference images I’d be more than happy to share them with you guys.
my idea is deep 12, its like deep six but with TWO vertical bar spinners, front and back

A Hydra themed robot named Alpha hydranoid with an angled panel wedge that uses two wheel n20 drive with 3 heads that are black with spikes on the running up the neck of the heads and red teeth it would also be servo actuated and work as a clamping mechanism. It would also have 2 static arms with claws on the ends of them that would be for show more than anything. In the at the very top of the wedge there would be a static partial saw blade that realistically should be 3d printed in a white or silver color for safety purposes and because it’s purely a visual. Another neat visual would be to have 3 hinged(unpowered and able to move horizontally but not vertically) tails that are black with red spikes on the end. If you have read this far and think this visual looks kinda familiar its inspiration is from Alpha hydranoid from the original Bakugan series back in the early 2000’s. If you decide to do this I would gladly send you what I am making in RA2 for you guys to use as a reference for what I am envisioning here. Unless a color is stated everything else is black
How about a mini scorpious with the twist that the weapon motor, battery etc ARE the flywheel to add to its weight. so the weapon arm wouldnt need to run a vulnerable chain but could even be made from something bendy/ flexible like uhmw or so. that motor 'package' would need to be encased in some steel to add to the weight and deal the damage. id imagine this whole thing look probably less like a hammer saw; more like a hammer drum? name? how about Badaboom and dress it in some 5th element color themes i.e. white and orange with some hints of black.

A suplex bot named suplex Steve the from will look like a shovel and the claw will also look like a shovel so it can suplex
so my design is skorpios with your anti jackpot forks but no hamersaw instead it has 2 spinners in the forks so as you go uder the other robot you pull them up while destroying the botom plate

A lifter bot with 2 independent lifters that can be controlled independently. When the opponent drives onto one of the lifters, it can activate that lifter to flip the opponent sideways. Two wheel drive would work. Name would be "Side Kick". Colors could be Robin colors from Batman.
1 foot wide 4WD with 4 N20s 1000RPM. Maybe TPU? Or just PLA+ or some form of Nylon. Depth: 2-3in Low profile chassis. 3mm thick armor. Four hinged forks up front. Invertable. And a smooth red/black paint job. With small Wheels to account for the depth that can be foam with latex. Should turn very well and smother bots. Due to the width, the forks can be very long and painted red. It will be called…

Fast, wide, forks! Everything that makes wedge bots not boring to drive! Everyone knows what a Brick wall is. It familiar, funny, and unique, not just another sloped two wheel drive lifter bot. BRICK WALL IS THE FUTURE!!!

This is actually an idea i want to try myself, but I figured I'd share it and throw my hat in the ring. So my idea is essentially a modernized version of Ray Billing's old robot Swamp Thing, a wedge shaped robot with 2 large wheels that allow it to wheelie with a small flapping plate that acts like a mouth, but instead of it just flapping around, the jaw would be motorized.
The idea would be a wedge shape with 2 wheels large enough to wheelie, a tail on the back to keep it from flipping itself over, and a wedge shaped front. The front would have teeth like forks to get under other robots. Under the wedge is a lower jaw made of forks that pushes up to raise the "nose" up and cause the robot to wheelie, making it look like an animal opening it's mouth. The lower jaw and inside of the mouth would have teeth on them (Can be metal or printed for safety) for grabbing.
With the weapon open it can grab other robots and take them to pits and traps, while when closed it can get under other robots to push or flip them. The robot would ideally be green and have the look of some kind of reptile, such as a snake, lizard or crocodile. Eyes of some kind to give the robot some personality would really help as well, whether they are painted on, are LEDs, or are Googly Eyes. The could be added to the top or sides of the wedge, but it would be amusing to have google eyes on the wheels (thus may make repairs harder so this may not be ideal).
I have no name ideas, but I feel this could be a very fun Sportsman robot that has a lot of personality if built. I'm curious to know what y'alls think. (Also let me know if you need any other details)

A terror top style lifter and torque spinner that has a tetris block shape spinner and call it Scuti base of the 13 year old boy who beat Tetris. (Edit) The full idea is the the arm would look like connected lines and L pieces and the t and a piece are the forks

Make a melty brain with very strong brushless motors tpu chassis with metal Teeth in shape of a sword make it with also black and name it black knight (for everyone who doesnt know what a melty brain it's just a round robot with 2 Wheels and Teeth, it's lila Shell spinner but the while robot Spins becuase of the Wheels )
Meltybrains are not sportsman, they are incredibly dangerous :P

Something I've always wanted to see in robot combat, would be an actual hammer drill on a weapon arm. It would work well in a clamping bot, or a dustpan scoop. Capture or immobilize the opponent, then swing down with a hammer drill, likely with a heavy masonry bit, roughly the same power as the hammer saws already in the sport, but instead of just tearing in with spinning blade, use all that power to drill a lot deeper in past the armor, and do precision damage on the inside.

Make a turtle themed robot. It's shell could be really good top armor. It could be Bowser colored. It's head could be modular, like it could ram out as a spike bot, or it could be more of a wedge shaped head that could lift or flip other opponents. it's front and back flippers could be wedges. It could be four wheel drive, with all four of it's wheels be inside of the shell for protection. I was thinking the name could be torque, or Torque The Turtle.
a bot that has a top and bottem lifer that are made out of aluminum and has 4 wheel and a chassis made out of tpu and a top and bottem plat made out of pla and it well be called wideside or uncel slam and that uses hub moters and hub moter drivetrain and the colors are periwikle and yellow and the name is supernova

No we usually get three months to six weeks notice before filming starts. They have not sent us any update.
