I’ve watched a good few of videos of yours in recent weeks and am buoyed by yours and Alex’s enthusiasm and good nature. What gives me solace is that I believe that there are more good than bad people in this world and you and Alex have buoyed that belief. Hats off to you.

When I was a kid we had a pond, and my grandfather got a call from a guy that he has a bunch of fish in his pond on a property he bought that he wants gone. He got me several garbage bins lined with plastic and a giant net. We arrived at the property and dredged the pond getting out a couple hundred fish and brought them back home and put them in our pond at home. The fish ended up being koi, and our pond is now full of hundreds of them. I used to go swimming and they'd swim around me and my friends, they are very friendly and curious. I live in upstate NY so they get a similar temperate climate that they are familiar with. It's been about 25 years and I don't even know how many different generations live in the pond now, but I always visit them whenever I go back home.

"Fish can bring about a sense of calm and serenity to a busy life."
Me, cycling my 10g tank for the first time in years: aaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
It's stressing me out so much.
But watching my little betta in the tiny 2.5g unfiltered (temporary until I get the 10g cycled! But still heated and all of that) makes me smile so much. I can't wait to get him into the larger tank. He's really one of the "broken but beautiful" types. He had finrot, one of his dorsal fins has _major_ chunks out of it. It took him close to a week to come out of hiding. He kept the damaged dorsal close to his body for several days to the point he had some buoyancy problems.
But after a couple of weeks, I'm seeing new fin growth where there had previously been holes. He goes nuts when I even pass by the tank. He still hides a fair bit, but that's just his personality. And you know what? That's okay. I love him so much. His name is Edwin

I'm also on my 3rd Black Moor as the other two didn't make it past a couple weeks. I had a fancy goldfish go to the brink of death and come back, only to perish a few months later (swim bladder and probably other problems), while I have a fan tail calico that's rivaling the size of my 3 year old goldfish (incidentally, that goldfish was found in a travel container laying on a small layer of pebbles inside and was almost completely devoid of water... obviously he managed to live).
And I can't even imagine with pond fish. My backyard neighbor had a pond in his yard, and man... during the summer, there'd be this huge blue heron you could see in the trees out back. That thing would just pick his fish off in pairs.

This video makes u look in ur backyard and think, “I could fit a koi pond and just a few koi would make all my worries melt away”.
Congrats on the beautiful fish, Charlie.

Koi means carp in japanese so everytime you say koi carp you actually say "Carp Carp". Do whatever you want with that information.

The best video on the subject I have seen and great to see Omi on the trip as well. Poroperly researched and well filmed and edited. Top marks. It would be great to see a follow up on Koi that have been released or escaped with floodwater into our canals and rivers and if they manage to breed with own Common and Mirror Carp. 5* Video.

not gonna lie, the 1.8 million 2 time grand champion kohaku fish actually looked really perfect, like the embodiment of a true koi fish, I'd probably also want it if I had the same money to spend. more than the fish, I think it was the passion of these gentlemen for these fish that was paid for, it's the art of patience.

I never thought I would love Koi fish until one day, my parent brought me to a manor Coffee in the mountain. That was like a garden with a huge pond. And there were so many Koi swimming. And I notice their pattern and color for some reason I don't know why. I thought it was an illusion but later when I went to the lavatory I found that there were many Koi fish illustrated books around. Then I realize the reason that makes me feel special to those Koi fish. I start to understand their beauty since then

Riveting! I enjoyed that enormously - I have a pond in my garden with 2 developed koi, and a youngster I bought last year. One of the bigger fish is pure metallic gold in colour, and is a real eyeful that actually gleams when sunlight falls directly on it. They also recognise me and come over to greet me when I'm about to feed them. Wonderful fish!
