Thank you for the update on Charlie!!! I hope that she has a long a fruitful life with you guys and that you are reminded of your time in Japan when you see her :) I hope you continue videos in the style of this series as they have been beautifully done.
You know these lads are proper fishermen when they really care about the fish. I dont mean to sound so soppy but you two really are credits to the sport. Tight lines and clean ponds! 👏👏
If they really cared about fish they wouldnt go fishing. No fisherman really cares that much about fish. Making a fish swim a marathon, then taking it out of the water into an environment it cant breathe in, to unhook a sharp piece of steel they embedded into its mouth isnt caring. I'm a fisherman myself and worked in the aquatics industry for years and I can tell you that a fish is the least cared about animal in the world.
I had a small koi pond at my spa 20 years ago. I sold my spa in 2005. Until your video showing the beautiful koi in Japan, I hadn't really realized how much I missed them and their serene nature. This coming home video literally brought tears to my eyes. Charlie is beautiful! I think I'm very partial to the yellow butterfly koi which I had at the spa a particularly beautiful one. Now. I'm thinking, how can I have a small koi pond again. Then I'm seeing obsession keeping into my life. Thank you for sharing your passion for koi.
Chagois are the best. Friendly, sweet, easy to fall in love with. My Gin Rin Chagoi is over 30 years old and the queen of our pod. Best of luck with your new baby.
Carp have "throat teeth" . Used to siphon bottom of koi pond into a net. In the net there were koi teeth, that my dentist who did programs for a local zoo took for show and tell.
I don't know why. But the ending of you feeding Charlie brought a tear to my eye. It just shows that fish can be more than food. Pets or even family. IMO any pet you get in your life is automatically considered family. Such as Charlie. Her species reminds me of dogs in some way. They can remember or recognize you. Sometimes will allow you to pet them. It's a thing of beauty honestly. I love fish. I wish to get a Koi for myself one day. Thank you for such an amazing video!
As a fellow angler and koi keeper for over 25 years found your videos, especially the Japan visit, interesting. I was advised to buy a Chagoi as it was said to calm other fish and would encourage hand feeding. All true, and still going strong 20years on
@Dalton Jones if you are talking of worm farm..its in cellar ( watch AV wormery on youtube..his is the best) if you are talking of koi keeping..need to have air pump working year around to let poisonous gasses out. I live in new york state..we got 3" of snow last night. Worms dont get fed till water temp in pond is above 50.
I just love Chagoi! There's similar sized one at the garden centre near me. It's always the friendliest out of all the koi in the pond. Charlie is going to give you so many years of peace and happiness. Good luck mate.
So happy for you fella. Fish are great both when you are catching them & caring for them. I hope you, Charlie, Chicken, Carrot & Calypo spend many years enjoying each others company. Take care.
Hi guys! I just want to say THANK YOU for inspiring me. I've been an angler for my entire life, i love lure fishing and a flyfishing. Thanks to You guys, I gathered (almost) complete carp tackle and an equipment and went to my first carp season. And gues what? I got a carp about 30lb! Couldn't weight him because... i couldn't lift this piggy! Too bad, because it could be new fishery record! But I decided to release him without pullim him out of the water! Sorry for my poor english, thank You again!
I'm happy for you Carl! Watching this video reminded of my mom who loved to watch me feed my Koi when I was a teenager. Wishing you and your pets the best!
When I heard "Im not going to buy any" I was excited to see what you'd bring home :) I know all too well that "we are just going to take a look" is a jinx. 😂 I'm falling in love with Charlie too, what a beauty! I have always dreamt of having koi but I'm not sure I'll ever be suitable space wise. Truly majestic animals.
Its interesting that out of all the brightly coloured Koi carp you had to choose from, you chose one that resembles a common carp, or maybe a ghost/common. Your choice obviously, but I'd have gone for one more colourful.
What a beautiful bronze buddy. I would have named him Goujian, after the ancient sword that cuts like it's brand new, since its scales look very similar to the flat of the blade. Maybe when I get my own pond that can be a reality. But that's a plan far off into the future. I hope Charlie is doing well. A pond of koi sounds like something an entire lineage can enjoy since they live so long. That's why I want to have my own pond, for my kids, their kids, and the kids after that and so on. Speaking of long lasting fish, a tank of roughies would be nice, if they hadn't been fished to near extinction. One of the most deadly things to be in the world. Tasty for humans.
Gave a thumbs up because you seemed incredibly happy and that kind of genuine sincerity is rare to see these days. I hope you are staying safe and that Charlie and the gang are as well.
I love love this video, always love Japanese Koi and love the different Colour Markings too. I especially like how they are very docile. This is on my bucket list to visit Japan and see the Koi for myself and enjoy the whole adventure. Cheers ! mate happy for you.
I had so many different wish while growing up,dad kept 3 or 4 separate aquariums. It has been years we don't have any fish but looking at them cute bois and girls,it makes me feel so peaceful. Charlie is so so cute,I felt like cuddling him in fact,he is so cute and gives me just a bust of joy. Thank you for sharing this.
this makes me so happy. your appreciation for fish and the effort to understand the culture behind them was touching. i also love the wysteria i long to have that in my home too
This has been quite educational, to watch, the history of these fish, and your purchase, and arrival, of Charley. You definitely, have a passion, for this and I hope your brother imports a fish one day. Have gained knowledge from your videos, on fishing for carp. Was really happy to see you fellas fish here in the U.S.A. Please when all this current stuff settles down, come to New York State, and give our carp a run Safe travels, and tight lines Sirs.
Congratulations from Cape Fear Koi! Great video. We recently added a Gin Rin Chagoi from Japan to our collection as well. Its a tosai, so we will watch it develop. We made a little video getting our recent fish too. Feel free to see swing over and see them! Always an exciting time!
The zero readings of nitrite and Ammonia could also be sign of a brand new filter system with bacterial with no loading, so not ready for fish, so make sure these two chemicals are cycled first. There will always be Nitrate as this is the end process of the first two.
The filter system has been set up for a couple of years, and the fish have been fine in there for that time. There was a slight peak a week after the big fish went in, when I started feeding more heavily, but that has now subsided to below measurable levels. :)

I have watched your video on 'The most expensive koi fish in the world', and i can't help myself to follow this video immediately. You are lucky to have such a beautiful and elegant Koi in your pond.
Very much enjoyed your videos on the koi journey. I learned a lot and was so happy to see Charlie! Its been a few months and hope we can see her progress. She is beautiful!
What an awesome follow up, absolutely loving the Koi series. I’ve subbed and liked, such quality videos. Big props to you, all the way from Australia 🇦🇺

Keep it up!
Well done Carl, ...she's a real beauty indeed! 😊 ..Chagoi are my favourite Koi as they are incredibly friendly, peaceful souls! I have 2 the same colour as yours in my koi pond and I absolutely love them to bits 😁 🐠🐟

Koi is the reason i have had a worm farm for 40+ years.. Composting worms fed to koi leads to some fast growing koi...and takes care of garden refuse.

Need to. Clarify...worms don't get fed to fish till temptress is over 50 degrees.
I love Charlie. Charlie could have my left kidney with no questions asked.
Some advice, I would put a new over the top, we lost a very expensive koi after it jumped out
I have a cover, with netting on it which is on the pond whenever we are not filming or in the garden ourselves :)
@@fishwithcarl nice one! Good to hear
My grandad lost a small koi to a cat so he now has a cover over it and has never lost a fish since.
