    That was awesome, It looked pretty decent when you started fixing it up, but you really made it look beautiful. Awesome job. My favorite is the cabinet doors with the pictures of the outdoors and one with the picture of the camper on it. Each picture was framed. And the detail on the pictures was amazing.

    You messed up with your "restoration". You didn't put the ice box back to functioning condition. I should know. My family had one for over 15+ years. Other than that, beautiful job! We absolutely loved ours, we just grew out of it.

    • @UpNorthAdventures
      @UpNorthAdventures  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! We decided to use that space for storage instead. So I put some cabinet doors on the opening, but I kept the ice box in case we wanted to put it back in. For now it's good for our needs. We love ours too, but will eventually get something bigger when we retire.

    great job with the trailer renovation. I hope you don't sell it and I hope you have someone you can leave it to that will appreciate it. I like the Woodburn cabinets very nice artwork. I also like how you reconditioned the aluminum brightwork and name of the company and model of the trailer. I like how you kept it original all the while giving it modern touches such as LED lights and ventilation and 12 volt electrical. nice job with the upholstery and carpeting that will help with sound and thermal insulation I'm sure. I hope you enjoy your time in nature.

    Finally got a chance to take a look at this video -- wow, nice job. Hi Kevin, are you located in Wisconsin? I bought a 1987 Uhaul a few months back and Ive had a hell of a first timer experience trying to remodel this puppy, I could really use some pointers. Im in Georgia unfortunately (chicago native 4 life lol)

    • @UpNorthAdventures
      @UpNorthAdventures  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Anna, yep lovin life in Wisconsin. Had to look up the uhaul trailers, didn't realize they made them.. very cool! I'm sure you'll have many great adventures.
      Have fun with the remodel. Nothing I did was rocket science, and some a little unconventional but I guess the best advice I could give you would be to think "lightweight as you design. Also make sure wheel barings have been packed recently. I've seen a few people have had their wheels lock up on them.

    Biggest mistake I ever made was carpet squares, I just spent 6 hrs trying to get them out. Now I'm having to redeck the floor, glue is impossible to get off, as far as I'm concerned that is. LOL. Beautiful rig!

    • @UpNorthAdventures
      @UpNorthAdventures  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's to bad. Sounds like a nightmare! In my case I figure if the squares didn't work something else would end up covering it so I wasn't worried to much. It all worked out for me but I was just trying to do it as cheap as possible. Much better options I'm sure!

    I'm remodeling an 84 scamp, yours looks great! How well did your carpet squares end up sticking on the walls and ceiling?

    • @UpNorthAdventures
      @UpNorthAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! It's been 9 years and still holding. I've had to add liquid nails a few times, mainly in the curves by the ceiling. I'm sure there are better options out there, the carpet squares were just meant to be a quick fix on the cheap, but they lasted longer than I thought.

  • @ptyhml1
    @ptyhml1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just bought a 1987 13’ scamp trailer to restore. I was getting ready to clean and paint the elephant skin on the walls but after watching this I may do the carpet squares. My question is, did you stick these right on the elephant skin or did you remove it? (hoping I can just stick them to it)

    • @UpNorthAdventures
      @UpNorthAdventures  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I stuck it right to the elephant skin and used some additional adhesion spray. The corners were a bit tricky so I used liquid nails in some places. Good luck it can be a challenge getting it all to line up because of all the curves.

    • @UpNorthAdventures
      @UpNorthAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I was just looking to cover it on the cheap. It's held up much better than I expected. The rubber type material was way to nasty and sticky. Tried a bunch of cleaning stuff but none of it helped and the "rat fur" that scamp sells was to much$ at the time. So not sure what else I could've used.
