    👍🏻. Didn’t get to watch yesterday. Was splitting cherry wood with my 1975 Case224 garden tractor, which was hooked to my old homemade hydraulic wood splitter.
    I didn’t hear any beeps in the commentary, but I think they were close.

    Hey Chris! This was such an awesome video today! Super enjoyed it!!! I really liked the commentary along with you working! I know for sure that I picked up some tips and tricks from you as you were working along that I’ll keep in mind going forward when you have more processor videos! Really nice work done that day! Glad you were able to tame that large log there an get it busted through wedge!! 🔥💯👍. Thanks again for having us along to the woodyard! It’s always a great time here at your channel! Chris,
    What a great video. Very informative of good and bad with a processor and how ugly wood impacts it.
    Also hilariously entertaining you talking to the wood!
    I never miss your videos.
    As for falling off the bike in a previous video, watching what all you do on a daily based and avoiding injury, I a shocked that an e bike took you down.
    In this video look like your Leg and foot are doing better. Hope so!

    How much more productive do you estimate the processor to be in relation to saw and Splitter?
    I know you can divide a log with the saw quite fast. Yes, your splitter is not a multi - wedge splitter but also quite fast.
    Yes, saw and splitter require more physical Labour but the costs of ownership are quite high with a processor. A processor doesn’t work without a tractor for example and a splitter seems to be necessary also.

    • @InTheWoodyard
      @InTheWoodyard  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The processor is 3x as fast and I can go all day every day ....not so with a chain saw.

      Then I guess it makes sense - if you operate it everyday - or nearly. Sure for homeowners it is not worth the expense.
      I am still working though my first truck load. :)

    • @DaleFarrish
      @DaleFarrish ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Some processors have an attached log loader so a tractor isn't always required. A tractor is also much faster loading though. The biggest advantage of a processor is the wear and tear on a persons body. A processor like this is designed mostly for heating wood, 5 or6" split size. Chris's clients are mostly ambiance burners so want smaller splits. That's where the Axis vertical and Ultra horizontal shine but not too many manufacturers of rounds cutters yet so it's manual chainsaw work. Sooner or later someone will build a processor that cuts the logs to rounds and and drops the rounds onto a platform that has an Axis on it so the operator can then split it to the size they want. Paging @EastonmadeWoodSplitters

    Hey Chris, I have been waiting with bated-breath for your evaluation on the 6-way wedge compared to the 4-way. I mostly use a 4-way;
    Nevertheless, I like what the 6-way is doing from the point of view reducing the quantity of re-splits. We all recognize time is money,, unnecessary handling is wasted productivity. I do acknowledge the destructive aspects of a 8 or 12 way,,;however, it seems to me based on the diameter of your logs, you may have found the proper equilibrium. Your thoughts. Always enjoy your thoughts and comments,, wish you had been around 40 years ago when I was still young.
    Keep -up the great show Jerry

    • @DaleFarrish
      @DaleFarrish ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Many different ways and reasons to split wood. You have to buy the machine that will create the wood you want to sell. I have at least 5 splitters and a processor. I use the processor to make the wood that I sell to heating customers. I put ash logs from about 8" to 14" diameter on this machine and split using either a 4 or 6 way wedge making 5" to 7" splits. I cut all my limbwood into 48" long pieces with a chainsaw and no splitting, it gets used in my OWB. Some logs from 14 to 28" diameter I cut 32" long rounds and split them into 6 or 8" splits using my homemade horizontal splitter with 4 way hydraulic adjusted 24" tall wedge. This is also for my own OWB. I cut ash rounds from 14 to 28" diameter into 15 1/2" long rounds with a chainsaw or my chainsaw jig. These are split into 2 to 3" bundle wood splits using my converted Speeco horizontal. It has a 12" tall single wedge on the foot that drops onto a conveyor and dumps into totes or wire cages to be bundled and sold. I also have a vertical splitter but am presently converting it in to a little different more efficient set up.

    That 8 way wedge seems to be doing much better than the 4 way. There should be much less re-splitting required. Bet you will never try to load and process a log that is as ugly as the one you did today!

    Wow! The running commentary kept me watching. "I liked it a lot". A little bit of a drawback to that is I couldn't hear every word. You were talking with normal voice. The machine in the background was overpowering you at times. Noise cancelling audio software or mic(s)??? Anyway, I hope you do that more... I have to admit on most videos, I fast forward through the parts that get the same after I've been watching you for a long time. I hope that still counts for a "watched" on the TH-cam algorithms. I use the "forward" arrow button on the keyboard to go 5 seconds ahead with every "click" on the button.

      Thanks for watching and yes I will be doing some more commentary on videos. Maybe after the filming so it is easier to hear!

    I know its a lot more work , but the over dubbing in post production is 75% better.
    I find The machine noise is prohibitive.

    • @jeanvaljohn3921
      @jeanvaljohn3921 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is a learning process to most machinery,
      One doesn't learn everything in eight or twelve truck loads.
      He has expressed on numerous previous videos the challenges
      involved and the complexities of operation.

    Not a fan of turtles. I like to cut them off and set them free. Due to the vocabulary they create when I have to stack them not to mention putting them in the wood stove or not 🤬
